Troupis This custom-built Bay Harbor “castle” is looking for its royal family. A barely lived-in home on the shores of Bay Harbor Lake could be yours— but only because the owner was so enamored with the design that he built another just like it. “He’s going to move into the other one,” says Logan Ciesielski, a sales executive with Bay Harbor Properties. And who can blame him? The 9,020-squarefoot home, just a hop, skip and a jump from Lake Michigan, is jam-packed with amenities, and not just the standard ones. Boathouse? Check. Elevator? Check. Motherin-law apartment? Check. On one of the largest lots in the Harborside community of Bay Harbor, Michigan, the three-story home has an attached boathouse and is right on the lake—perfect for the boating enthusiast. “The boathouse can hold up to a 52-foot boat,” Ciesielski says. “It is all finished in cypress and includes underwater lights, access lights and two 30-amp hookups.” With Lake Michigan just through the channel, day shopping trips to Traverse City, or weekend trips to Charlevoix and Mackinac Island are a breeze. “We call it the nautical center of the Great Lakes,” Ciesielski says. A workout room is found on the second level, too, along with two more bedrooms, each with two closets and a full bath. The mother-in-law apartment, complete with a living area, small kitchenette, full bedroom and bath, connects to the home on this floor. It also has its own entrance above the four-car heated garage. The third-floor loft is whatever you want to make if it: his-and-hers office space, an extra bedroom or a billiard room. Just down the street is the yacht club, the “social hub of the city,” which includes a workout room, a bar area, three different dining areas, an outdoor pool, a 20-person Jacuzzi, a sand beach, squash courts, tennis courts, a bocce ball area, basketball courts and meeting rooms. “This home is really perfect for a person who is ready to step into day-boating activity,” Ciesielski says. WHERE: Built over what used to be a cement plant on Little Traverse Bay, Bay Harbor stretches for five miles along Lake Michigan. “The village of Bay Harbor has spectacular shops, art galleries and monogram shops,” Ciesielski says.
