Moss Library Book Club, 12:15 p.m., Third Floor Atrium, University Center • May 30 - Memorial Day (campus closed) • July 18, 20 – Angioscreens by Wadley Regional Medical Center, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., UC Plaza Registration open for tech summit The Texas A&M University System Council for Academic Technology and Innovative Education (CATIE) invites faculty and staff to attend the third annual Chancellor’s Summit on Academic Technology June 22-23 in College Station. Opening speaker is Dr. Rob Robinson, who will present on how to leverage predictive analytics to power student success. Closing speaker is Dr. Darcy Hardy, who will present “Who’s on First?” Dr. Robinson will show participants how to connect the various silos of data and unlock some surprising insights surrounding student success. Dr. Hardy will examine the role faculty, academic affairs and information technology plays in this new era of learning. Continued on page 2 Col. The event, which benefited Patriot Paws, drew more than 60 veterans and others attendees from the campus and community. Faculty: Volunteer for the core curriculum review panels! By Dr. Jade Jenkins, Academic Assessment Coordinator What: Faculty volunteers from the College of Education and Liberal Arts, College of Business, and College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are invited to participate in the core curriculum review panels. In these panels, faculty will review artifacts submitted from core courses and evaluate them using rubrics. Results from these panels will be published in the 2015-2016 Core Curriculum Reports. When: The current dates set aside for these panels are Wednesday, May 18, and Thursday, May 19. Participating faculty will need to be present at 9 a.m. on each day of participation but may come and go as needed following the completion of training. Compensation: Faculty will receive a stipend for participating (up to $200 for each full day). Furthermore, food and refreshments will be provided each morning and a catered lunch will be provided each afternoon. How to sign up: Please send an email to Jade Jenkins ([email protected]) and your Dean (CC) indicating what day(s) you would like to attend by Monday, May 16. Summer hours for bookstore The summer hours for the Eagle Central bookstore will begin on Monday, May 16, and end on Monday, Aug. 8. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. Young Professionals ‘Hats and Horses’ is Saturday The Young Professionals of Texas A&M University-Texarkana will host its signature fundraiser “Hats and Horses: A Day at the Derby” on Saturday, May 7, from 4-7 p.m. at the Texarkana Country Club, 1 Country Club Lane, Texarkana, Arkansas. Tickets are $50 for the general public and $40 for members of the Young Professionals of A&M-Texarkana. Proceeds from the event are used to fund scholarships for A&M-Texarkana students. Wadley Regional Medical Center will be on site Monday, July 18, and Wednesday, July 20, performing vascular screenings for those who are interested. This test is a 15-minute, non-invasive vascular screening, which provides participants with immediate information about their circulation and risk of heart disease and stroke. The cost for this service is $32. Payment can be made via credit/debit card or cash. Those who plan to use a credit/debit card should bring a driver’s license for verification purposes. Appointments are required to be made no later than July 5 in order to finalize the schedule prior to the date of the event. Eagles Baseball Team Eagles baseball leaves Thursday for AII Tournament In its inaugural season, the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Eagles baseball team has qualified for the Association of Independent Institutions Baseball Championship Tournament. The No. 3 seed Eagles will leave Thursday morning for Lawrenceville, Georgia, and will take on No. 6 seed Edward Waters on Saturday, May 7, at noon. Go, Eagles!
