Greetings from your President
Happy New Year! I am very excited about the upcoming year and all the events we are planning
for a fun year. If there is anything you would like to have me present to the board please feel
free to email me at [email protected]. The first event coming up is the Re-Up Party which
will be held on January 11 at 7:00 at Babs McDance. The meal is going to be catered by Middle
of the Island. There will be two meats, three vegetables, and dessert. The cost for current members is $5.00 and the cost for guests and new members applying that night will be $6.00.
Please invite all your friends to this party. Joey Warren will be the DJ. I need a head count by
January 9, 2014. Contact Connie or me (see contact information on the next page). Let’s make
this a GREAT event!
Our first board meeting will be held on January 2, at 6:30 at Pat Ellis’s and Bob Cancro’s residence. Board meetings are open to club members. Anyone wishing to attend this meeting
should please let me know so we can be sure to have room for everyone.
The February meeting will also be at Babs McDance—on February 8, 2014. That night we will
discuss where our future meetings will be held, as our contract with Babs expires in March. If
you have venues in mind you would like us to consider, you may contact any board member.
I am happy to announce we have some eager and motivated board members and chairpersons
for the coming year. Their names and contact information follows on the next page. Some of
them are sure to be calling on you for help—let’s make this every member’s club!

Valentine theme. Please bring a Valentine
Card (It can be homemade) and we will exchange cards at the meeting. Also, please
bring a dessert to share.

who have been ill recently. Elaine Hobbs, Hospitality Chair, always sends a card from the club to
them. Unfortunately, Elaine herself has been having some serious health issues. Elaine, we all

Christmas Party December 14 at Pine Valley Country Clubhouse. 6-10 pm. Contact Toni Decker for tickets. Must be ordered in
advance and paid for. Meal choices will be Prime Rib or Chicken Marsalis, Salad, Potato and veggies, and key lime pie. Cut off for ticket sales is December 6th. Gary Burges will be the DJ. Cost is $25 for members, $35 for guests.

NC Funeral Director’s Association has asked club to put on a shag demo for their May, 13, 2014 meeting. BOD approved this
and passed on the commitment to the new officers. Will be held at the Hilton downtown with the Band of Oz.

February 21-22 will be the Winter Workshop in Columbia SC

Membership applications were presented for Peggy Lewis for voting at next meeting. Diane Armstrong, Brenda Anderson, Cher-
ry Bland and Doug Bland were voted in as new members.
