VALVE BODY STYLE OPTIONS
The Severn Glocon Series 5000E Mod.D provides two basic body styles: globe and angle. Many parts are
interchangeable, with the exception of the valve bodies. The angle type has an optional venturi seat which may be
specified in order to provide additional protection to the valve outlet.

Hybrid Trim
This type of trim has several concentric cages in the initial part, one cage in the remaining part. Usually the value
of Cv increases in the last 10 % of opening stroke. The first part of trim is designed to prevent the onset of
cavitation in the start-up phase.

The Severn Glocon Series 5000E Mod.PC/L provides two basic body styles: globe and angle. Many parts are
interchangeable, with the exception of the valve bodies. The angle type has an optional venturi seat which may be

Seat leakage rates are normally measured in accordance with the ANSI/FCI 70-2 specification, using the leakage
class designation. The following table defines the achievable leakage class with the plug/seat design available in
the Series 5000E Mod.CH/H.

Actually there is the version with balanced trim, used
both for fluids mixing and for fluids separation. This
kind of valve has a single seat body, with an
additional stub for the third way.
The trim balancing is got by a ring put on the piston
having the same section of the plug.
A passing hole in the plug let the fluid exerting
pressure also on the upper face of the plug; this
configuration
makes
possible
to
use
low
power
servomotors without the damper.
Being similar to a single seat valve, this kind of valve
has the advantage of a good seal.

Severn Glocon Series 5000E 3 Way
Formerly, because of different types of dynamic
actions, three ways valves for fluids separation were
differently structured from those used for fluid mixing.
In fact, using low-power servomotors needed:

In case of fluids separation, to use diverting
valves, with trims in a steady equilibrium
respect to the actions of fluid to partition, i.e.
valves that fundamentally keep partially open
both outputs.

In case of fluids mixing, to use converting

valves, with trims in an unsteady equilibrium, i.e.
valves that tend to close either input. Thus the fluids
to be mixed tend to reinstate the equilibrium.
