GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS IN MARCHING BAND
for 2011-2012
POSITIONS
3 Graduate Assistantships
(1 Brass / 1 Woodwind / 1 Percussion)
DUTIES
Assist with teaching in the areas of brass/woodwind and percussion, marching technique and show
development. Assist the directors with all administrative aspects of the program. Other duties include assisting
with the Basketball Pep Band and the Symphonic Band. Additional responsibilities such as music arranging and
show design are contingent upon the applicant’s qualifications.
STIPEND
Stipend of $16,000 over nine months plus 100% tuition assistance. Opportunities for additional income are
also available. Assistantships may be renewed for a second year upon faculty approval.

August 15, 2011, contingent upon acceptance for admission by the University and the Department of Music.
MARCHING BAND
The 300-member University of Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band focuses on being a visually
innovative musical performance ensemble. Our halftime productions are corps-style, incorporating
contemporary show design, as well as entertainment value.
DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC
The University of Delaware Department of Music offers the graduate degree Master of Music, with a
concentration in either Performance (emphasizing studio instruction, and culminating in a public recital) or
Teaching (directed towards music educators in grades K-12 who desire a Masters degree in this discipline).
Music study at Delaware is enriched by the well-equipped and modern facilities in the Amy E. du Pont Music
Building, with its large rehearsal rooms, practice rooms and Loudis Recital Hall. The Roselle Center for the Arts
adjacent to the Amy E. du Pont Music Building provides performance spaces for recitals and chamber music,
ensemble/rehearsal rooms, and many additional practice rooms. An excellent collection of scores, books and
music journals is housed in the University’s Morris Library.
