M&A activity isnʼt always good for transportation real estate
Toronto Mayor Rob Fordʼs parade of antics is the most interesting news story in Canada today to be
sure, but itʼs not the only one. Celadon, a US truckload carrier, has made its third acquisition in
Canada this year; Kenan Advantage Group (KAG), a US bulk-hauler, purchased western Canada
bulk carrier RTL-Westcan adding Westcanʼs 480 trucks to its fleet; and Canadian trucking giant
Transforce will likely buy Vitranʼs Canadian operations and announced last month that it would
acquire Clarke Transport, both of which are rail-oriented Canadian LTL carriers. After a sleepy year
for Canadian M&A activity, things seem to be picking up as the year closes out, eh?
