RADIO HAS A NEW SHERIFF! MEET BIG BRUCE RADIO.
www.bigbruceradio.com.
by Val Jones - www.fayettevillepress.com
How many of us miss the old days of radio when music used to
really move, groove and inspire us? Remember when you heard more
than the same 10 songs in rotation? Remember when announcers actually sound like radio personalities instead of some “Joe Blow” just pulled
off the street? Remember good radio with a pulse?! Well, it’s back!!
Introducing Big Bruce Radio — an internet station owned by B&B
Broadcasting. B&B stands for Bo$$ B and Big Bruce.
Bo$$-B is a music producer and technical engineer from Orlando,
FL. The ultimate business man, he is a master of mathematics and has
been his own boss for over a decade. His resume includes production
for DJ Magic Mike and the 69 Boyz as well as independent artists.
Big Bruce is known to many in the area as, not only a radio host,
but a jack of all trades in the industry. He has been in the radio broadcasting industry over a decade and his resume is extensive, having
worked with a major radio station as well as in entertainment promotions. He has promoted “The Apple Chill” for 3 years and “The Pre
Bike Rally” for 11 years and both have been sell out events. Thus his
alias “Mr. Bike Fest” comes from his love of bikes and bringing fellow
bikers together. Big Bruce is a born hustler and has excellent business
savvy. So after years of seeing how things would be done differently if
he had the chance to run his own radio station, it was easy to see why
he jumped on the opportunity when it presented itself.
“Brian (Bo$$ B) and I came together through our own respective
businesses,” says Big Bruce. “I was working at WCCG and he came
with a great idea. Unfortunately, plans fell through and we found ourselves dealing with folks who really didn’t know how to facilitate it
properly. So, it’s ironic that we connected through a negative situation;
yet still came out with a positive solution that would benefit us both. I
remember his words well: “Why work for anyone when you can work
for yourself and we can create our own radio station?” And with his
partnership, I knew it was more than doable. So, we created Big Bruce
Radio.”
Bo$$ B is the quiet type who’s always listening and thinking and
allowing his actions to speak for him. He’s like E.F. Hutton; when he
talks, people listen. Or they’d better. But don’t let that intimidate you.
He’s just a savvy businessman...and a down to earth guy who keeps it
real. “I will be the first to say, I don’t know everything about radio. But
I’m learning,” says Bo$$ B. “What I do know is how things are supposed to sound. And I know a good business opportunity. And we are
building something amazing here.”
Bo$$ B shares his business tips on the website. But how does the
ultimate businessman feel about possibly becoming an air personality?
“Everyone around me keeps saying I should try my hand,” he laughs.
“But my background is music and music production. I’ve been into
music and audio production since 1988. That led me to start my own
business with AHOD Music Group (All Hands On Deck). I’m a firm
believer that all hands from a dream team can make any business a
success. With that being said, I’m very picky on who I deal with...because
if you don’t have a work ethic or the right mentality, we can’t work
together. Sometimes you have to work from 6am to 6am the next morning. Sometimes all you have time to do is take a shower and grab something to eat and water - not that other stuff - WATER...and be back on
your grind. I’m passionate about what I do and I expect others around
me to be the same way too. If you don’t have a good work ethic it
won’t jell. That’s just good business sense.”
Good radio sense too! If you’re a serious music lover, you’ll appreciate Big Bruce Radio. More than hip hop, more than soul, more
than some of the best quiet storm mixes on the planet, this station has
an “attitude” for playing the music that a real music lover dares to hear
but doesn’t hear any more on their local stations. Plus, it’s still fresh
enough where younger listeners will still get a better variety of today’s
music while ole school hip hop lovers will get a kick out of listening to
back to back jams from Whodini, 3rd Base, Johnny Kemp, Rare Essence, Chuck Brown and on and on and on. Every song you hear,
you’ll find yourself going, “That’s my jam!”
If that wasn’t enough, Big Bruce Radio gives you its own unique
twist of a “quiet storm” format. DJ Trinstar spins a “quiet storm mix”
of your favorite slow jams.Whether you’re in bed or at work, it will hit
the right spot that will keep you grooving softly into the wee hours of
the morning. Unorthodox...just like Big Bruce Radio.
“Radio as we have grown to know is going to change in a couple
of years,” says Big Bruce. “Everyone is on their mobiles and iPods. So
radio is going to change as far as how people listen to their music. With
us jumping on the internet and becoming worldwide, that’s going to
open a lot of doors for us. I found out that Ryan Seacrest started out
like this when his career took off.”
“Everything I’ve ever learned, I’m putting it into practice here,”
says Big Bruce. “Working with two stations and learning what to do as
well as what not to do, has made me ready for this moment. We’ve
assembled a great team of workers with vision who bring their own
excellence to the team. Plus, we’re people from the streets and in the
streets. We know what the streets want to hear. We’re in the entertainment businesses and we’re in the clubs. We know what people are
saying. People want to be able to feel you and to follow you. So, you’ve
got to put yourself out there with the people and rock with the people to
know them. And we know our audience.”
The great thing about being a part of today’s social media? People
can follow wherever you are or wherever they are. This gives internet
and satellite radio an equal, if not more of an advantage with brick and

mortar radio stations.
“We don’t have to stay in one city. We
can set up anywhere,” says Big Bruce. “We
have a mobile device where we can broadcast from any spot in this area and any place
in the world. Big Bruce Radio is everywhere!”
Make no mistake, building a radio station and all that it entails is not as easy as
some may think. “Seeing how radio operates
from the inside is a different experience,” says
Bo$$ B. “As a listener, there are a whole lot
of things happening that you have no idea are
happening. Trust me, it’s a lot different than
how we imagine it to be. But, since being with
Big Bruce, I’ve seen the inside picture of
what’s going on in radio before a concert...and
how cutthroat things can be. It really broke
my heart. Plus, there are so many business
details that can fall through the cracks. Contracts not honored. Station drops not enunciated right. Lighting and sound not together.
Backup plans have to be ready at a moment’s
notice. And if all fails, not by your own fault,
you still have to be able to come out and still
smell like roses afterward because you have
to be in the streets with these people.” Sounds
like Bo$$ B got the full radio experience!
He continues, “I’ve just learned a lot and
have a great appreciation for what people in
the radio industry do. I really thought people
in radio made a lot of money...til I learned
otherwise.” (Side note: Big Bruce and I are
both rolling over laughing at this statement.
But back to the comment...) “You got a lot of
great people that’s on radio who are not valued. But they have a deep strong passion
and they really love what they do...and they
love their listeners...because it’s their listeners who made them what they are. So if you
take care of the listeners, the listeners will
take care of you.” True that.
So, 3 1/2 months later after its launch on
May 17, 2013, Big Bruce Radio is doing BIG
things. The station has amassed over 25,000
listeners and is heard in 40 countries, as well
as every major market in the U.S. As of this
writing, Big Bruce Radio officially has over
915 members and the numbers continue to
grow.
“We have listeners in 40 countries and
our graphs are going up,” says Big Bruce. Our
listenership and members are growing at a
rapid pace. The name along with the music is

attracting all of this. And we’re still building our staff. Wait until everyone officially
hits the mic! We’re proud of the fact that we have a talented crew and we’re
building a New Age radio station for people all over the world to enjoy.”
Ever sharing business tips, Bo$$ B has one for upcoming artists: “A lot of
these independent rappers must understand that you just can’t step to radio people
with any old thing and expect it to get played. There’s a reason why they’re turning
you down and saying, ‘I can’t play your stuff.’ But let’s turn that negative into a
positive and regroup and do this the right way to get your product tight and air
quality. Have it properly mixed by a professional because you just can’t put something behind Lil Wayne or T.I. that sounds like it just came mixed out of somebody’s
kitchen. That’s not a good look or sound for the station...or for you.” Sound advice
indeed.
The success of Big Bruce Radio is showing in the listenership. The station
started out being ranked #871 and now it is ranked # 20. “Our fantastic rise in 3
months is saying something. It shows we must be doing something right,” says Big
Bruce. “ We’re all music heads, so we know what’s hot and what’s not. There’s
something people weren’t hearing before...even at the top stations. So, we’re giving
our audience something that’s worthy of listening to...something that they felt they
were missing.”
Oh by the way, did I mention? The writer of this article was so impressed, I
joined the “dream team” myself! Now, you can hear me as well on Big Bruce Radio
with my show “Soul School Cafe” - Sundays from 3pm -5pm.
Radio has a new Sheriff. And it’s called Big Bruce Radio! Tune in today.

Protect Your Child
(NAPSI)—Parents need
no longer fear the dreadful note
home from school announcing
an outbreak of head lice, if they
heed these hints:
• A weekly head check
can help you stay ahead of an
outbreak. According to a recent survey, 56 percent of parents do one. Lice lay eggs in
warm, moist areas around the
head.
• Wash your family’s hair
with a product clinically proven
to help prevent them, with organic herbs and natural plant
extracts, and no chemicals or
pesticides. Called Rosemary
Repel®, the shampoo and
crème conditioner gently
cleanse, nourish and protect
hair.
If you still get lice:
Vacuum floors, carpets, beds,
car seats and couches; wash
bedding daily in hot water. Dry
on high heat; and consider Lice
Good-Bye. Safe, easy, natural
and clinically proven to remove
lice and their eggs, its Terminator Metal Lice Comb has
micro-grooved teeth that are
gentle on the scalp.

So it appears troubled pro baller
Lamar Odom has checked himself
into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation
center...again! “He realized he needs
help,” a source says of the NBA free
agent and husband of reality star
Khloé Kardashian Odom. Lamar,
32, is a past abuser of drugs. He violated NBA drug policies twice in
eight months back in 2001, he has
had constant problems of falling off
the wagon. Because this has put an
obvious strain on his marriage, the
problems have escalated again as he
was arrested recently for DUI, not
long after supposed kicked out of the
house. Unfortunately, Lamar’s drug
problem seems to run in the family.
His father struggled with heroin addiction, and Lamar said once that he
thought he was “fighting my father’s
demons.”

If Hollywood is looking for a drama filled script based on a true story,
they’ve got one right in their own backyard in actor Terrence Howard. The
actor – who’s starring in the new “Winnie Mandela” film with Jennifer
Hudson and “The Butler” with Oprah Winfrey – threatened suicide with XActo blade, calling himself ‘Satan’ during fight with estranged wife. Note
to gentlemen AND women: WHEN YOUR EXES MAKE YOU CRAZY,
LEAVE THEM ALONE! PERIOD!! THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY
ARE EXES!!! Just saying.... Get it together, Terrence!!
Dave Chappelle tried to keep it together when he engaged in a nasty
stand-off with the crowd after several loudmouthed fans heckled him during his set in Hartford, Connecticut. “I don’t want anything bad to happen
to the United States,” Dave said ... “but if North Korea ever drops a nuclear
bomb on this country, I swear to God I hope it lands in Hartford, Connecticut.” Calling the crowd a bunch of “young, white alcoholics” and saying he
wanted to pull a “reverse Kramer,” Dave took the stage next night in Chicago and kept it moving in typical Chappelle style. Go Dave GO!
Shaking my head at my “soror,” Sheryl Underwood and that ‘nasty
hair’ comment she made recently. Sometimes...there are reasons why you
just don’t connect with some folks. Self hate really IS a BITCH. Just saying..... #attitude
