YogaFit Kids
The essence of YogaFit Kids is breathing, feeling, and listening to the body without competition,
judgement and expectation. Children come into the world as natural yogis. Their joints are
pliable and their muscles are flexible. Yoga encourages kids to explore their natural flexibility
and to become stronger through natural and functional physical movement using their own body
weight. The benefits of yoga for children include developing strong, limber and healthy bodies,
improving coordination and posture, developing flexibility, increasing body awareness, improving
concentration, attention, focus, and emotional balance.

Girl Guides
Martensville Girl Guides provides an inclusive, all-girl environment that invites
girls to challenge themselves, find their voice, meet new friends and make a
difference in the world around them. The girls in each unit will be given the
opportunity to try new things as well as understand the rewards of community
involvement. Some of the activities that the girls have participated in over the
past couple of years include dog sledding, doing graffiti art, sewing, meeting
Olympic medallists, learning about and interacting with therapy dogs, wall
climbing, traveling to Calgary to sleep in the zoo, and of course camping.
Meetings are held at 6:30pm Mondays OR Wednesdays starting mid-September. All registration is now done online at
www.saskatoongirlguides.ca. We are in need of adult leaders for the coming year. When you volunteer with Girl Guides
of Canada, not only do you enrich the lives of girls, you gain a personally rewarding experience. No Guiding experience is
necessary, just a willingness to be involved. Girl Guides will run from September 2015 until the end of April 2016. Please
email [email protected] if you have any questions.

Skate Martensville – Catch the Spirit
Become part of Martensville’s skating family. Skate Martensville is an association
dedicated to the principles of enabling individuals to participate in skating for fun, fitness
and/or achievement. If you want to introduce your children to a healthy life-long sport,
Skate Martensville is for you!
CanHockey is a program designed for 4 year olds who have some skating experience
and can’t wait to hit the ice in their hockey gear. This program focuses on basic skating
skills needed for the sport of hockey; forward skating, balance, stopping, and backward
skating. Put on that favorite jersey, shoulder pads, hockey pants, helmet and learn the
fundamentals of hockey skating. CanHockey packages are available to skate once or twice
per week and sessions run on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 6:00pm-6:45pm.
CanSkate is Skate Canada’s learn-to-skate program, designed for beginners of all ages. The CanSkate program focuses
on fun, participation and basic skill development. CanSkate participants earn badges and other incentives as they learn
fundamental skating skills. CanSkate lessons are given in a group format led by our NCCP certified coaching staff using
teaching aids, music and activities that create a fun environment and promote learning. CanSkate packages are available
to skate once or twice per week and sessions run on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 6:00pm-6:45pm. A PreCanSkate
program is available for skaters age 3-4 with no skating experience which runs from 6:15pm-6:45pm on Tuesdays or
Thursdays.
STARSkate has been the mainstay of figure skating in Canada for more than four decades. The STARSkate program
is for those more advanced skaters wanting to move into figure skating. Skate Canada’s STARSkate program offers
opportunities for skaters to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate
and interpretive skating. STARSkate lessons are led by our NCCP certified coaching staff and are offered in group and/
or private lesson format. STARSkate lessons occur on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays after school. Some Fridays will
alternate to Saturday morning. Skate Martensville offers a variety of STARSkate packages from ice and lessons included
to ice only packages. Skate Martensville has a package that’s right for you!
Join the Fun!!!!! Registration Night for CanHockey, CanSkate and PreCanSkate programs is September 8th at 7:00pm at

Sask. Valley Riding Club
The Sask Valley Riding Club was formed in 1996 and is made up of members of all ages, promoting a family atmosphere.
The club holds several events throughout the year to support causes or charities that are of special interest to its members
including the Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation, the Equine Health Research Fund, and Breast Cancer Research. Some of
the events organized include fun gymkhanas, poker rally’s, and the Telemiracle Pony Express 8-Day Ride.
In addition, we coordinate various riding clinics for club members throughout
the year and take part in as many local parades as we can. Weekly winter
riding was added in 2011. Both English and Western riders can enjoy some
of the advantages of membership, including access to our library which
contains an assortment of training videos and books.
As a club we enjoy spending time with other people, both riders and nonriders alike, that share our interest in horses. In doing so, we are given a
chance to learn from each other and the various experts we have contact
with along the way.
Our goals include helping each other, helping our horses and helping our community. Whether you’re just looking for
some new people to ride with or for the opportunity to learn a little more about your horse in a relaxed atmosphere,
the Club may be right for you. Come on out and let’s see what we can learn from each other. Contact Ashley Woodvine
- president at 306-881-9336 or Carol Barbour - treasurer at 306-934-3315. Like us on facebook or check the website –

Minor Baseball
It has been another successful year of baseball in Martensville and surrounding communities
with over 200 kids registered this year. We had very strong competitive teams this year that
represented Martensville very well. All the ball players from JR Rally cap to Midget AAA age
learned a lot of new skills and had a lot of fun doing so. Congratulations to our Midget AA team
coached by Chet Walker for winning the City League Championship!
A huge thanks to all the coaches, players, parents, umpires, executive members, and volunteers
for everything they have done this season. Without you we would not be able to have a successful program.
Registration for JR Rally Cap to Midget divisions will be taking place in January with pitching camps and indoor practices
following shortly thereafter. Please check our website regularly at www.martensvilleminorbaseball.com for these very
important dates and for other updates in our organization.
