HUNKY DORY, NAMED AFTER THE SEMINAL DAVID BOWIE
ALBUM, IS NESTLED IN THE HISTORIC HEIGHTS AND HOME TO
CELEBRATED CHEF RICHARD KNIGHT.
Neighboring its sister restaurant, Bernadine’s, Hunky Dory is an elegant reflection of Austinbased architect Michael Hsu’s attention to detail and elevated style. Tucked in the embrace of
a 100-year-old Live Oak tree, the building’s structure complements the traditional architecture
of the neighborhood. The restaurant’s interior transitions seamlessly between English country
decor, classic pub styling, and a bit of Bowie’s ’70s glam flair.
Hunky Dory features Chef Richard Knight’s whimsical take on British-American cuisine. Our open
kitchen is built around a crackling wood-fired hearth from which he is proud to offer our guests a
formal dining room menu featuring dishes meant for the table. Chef Knight affectionately refers
to his cooking as “simple things done well.”

THE PRIVATE DINING ROOM brings our
two concepts, Hunky Dory and Bernadine’s,
together. This event space is decorated
with personally-curated cookbooks from
around the world and features white marbled
tables, generous floor to ceiling windows
and wooden light fixtures made by local
artisan, Haden Garrett. Our Private Dining
Room can accommodate up to 50 guests for
receptions and 40 guests for a seated dinner.
Accommodations may vary based on the
arrangement of the room. This space requires
a food and beverage minimum that is subject
to change based on the event’s date and time.*
THE PATIO looks out on 18th Street and
was creatively designed around the Live Oak
tree that embraces the front of our tavern.
The patio can accommodate up to 50 guests
for receptions and 40 guests for a seated
dinner. Accommodations may vary based
on the arrangement of the space. The food
and beverage minimum is subject to change
depending on the date and time of event.*

RICHARD KNIGHT’S CHEF’S TABLE is located
next to our centerpiece at Hunky Dory, the
wood-burning hearth. Sitting here, you’ll be
able to see all that goes on in our beautiful
kitchen and you will learn about each of
your uniquely customized menu items from
Chef himself. The Chef ’s Table is able to
accommodate a maximum of 10 guests.

CHEF’S FEASTING MENU
THE CHEF’S FEASTING MENU allows you and
your guests to embark upon a very special
dining experience. A fantastic five-course
feast, set by Chef Richard, awaits you. You
will sample a mix of individual and familystyle items, centered around a large format
protein (suckling pig, whole roast bird, etc).
Chef ’s choice on all courses. Please discuss any
dietary restrictions upon booking. The Chef ’s
Feasting menu can accommodate between 11
and 40 guests.

The restaurant is available for buyout for a
minimum requirement in food and beverage
that varies depending on date and time.* A
buyout is to be considered to include the
main dining room, the private dining room,
the tavern and the tavern patio.

CHOICE OF MENU
Special dietary substitutes can be made available by prior request when possible.
In the event that any guests in your group have food allergies, you should inform us
of the names of such persons and the nature of their allergies in order to take the
necessary precautions when preparing their food. We provide, upon request, full
information on the ingredients of any items served to your group.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
Hunky Dory’s beverages are provided and charged on consumption. The restaurant
does not permit any alcoholic beverages to be brought onto the property from any
outside source.
C O N F I R M AT I O N
In order to ensure a successful event, final set up and menu information is required no
later than three (3) business days in advance of planned function.
DEPOSITS
Hunky Dory is pleased to hold a room tentative for up to one week, after which
time a contract must be signed and deposit due or the space will be released. The
cancellation policy is as follows:

PARKING
Self-parking in our lot as well as complimentary valet parking is available.
AUDIO/VISUAL
Please ask your event sales manager for details regarding audio visual
availability and pricing.
GUARANTEES
A final confirmation or “guarantee” of your anticipated number of guests is required
by 12 noon, three (3) business days before your event. This guarantee may not
be reduced. Your guarantee number is what you would be charged (food, tax and
gratuity) even if fewer guests attend. When you have set the guarantee Hunky Dory
will be glad to set for an additional few guests (10% of the guarantee). Your event sales
manager would be happy to provide more details if required.
