On behalf of the Waikato Primary Schools and Waikato Rugby Union, I would like to
welcome all players, management, coaches and supporters to the 2015 Gwynne Shield
Tournament. We look forward to a great week of rugby with great contests between all
teams.
The tournament has a remarkable history that began back in 1921 and has evolved over the
years as the premier competition within the Waikato for schoolboy rugby. Many who have
played in the Gwynne Shield competition have gone on to be Waikato senior representative
players and All Blacks.
For many this will be the first experience of representative rugby and could lead to being
selected for further honours with the Waikato team at the NRM Roller Mills Tournament, to
be held this year in Whangarei during September/October.
I wish to thank the Cambridge Sub Union for the offer to again host the tournament during
the week and the Finals Day on Sunday.
Thanks also to the Waikato Rugby Supporters Club and Waikato Rugby Union who are the
generous sponsors of the tournament.
This is a great opportunity for players to be part of a team where fair play and comradeship
combine to create a memorable week on and off the field. Enjoy the occasion.

The Waikato Rugby Supporters Club has had a very long association with the Gwynne
Shield. We exist to foster and support all rugby within the boundaries of the Waikato Rugby
Union.
The Waikato Rugby Supporters Club has its club rooms at Waikato Stadium - at the Fraser
Tech end under the WEL Networks stand.
We invite membership from like minded rugby people. To become a member check out our
page on the Waikato Rugby Union website at www.mooloo.co.nz/fanzone/waikato-rugbysupporters-club.
We open our club rooms for all Waikato home games and our members enjoy the pre-match
enthusiasm and after-match camaraderie.
The Waikato Rugby Supporters Club is proud to once again support Waikato Primary
Schools Rugby with our sponsorship of the 2015 Waikato Rugby Supporters Club Gwynne
Shield Tournament.

Waikato Rugby Supporters Club President
