Experience a moment of Japanese culture with
Chigirie(Torn Paper Art)
Create your own original artwork using Japanese rice paper!
Chigirie comes from the Japanese word chigiru(tear) and e(picture/art). In other words,
Washi chigirie involves tearing paper and using glue to paste colorful torn paper to a
cardboard. The traditional art of making washi has been around since ancient times and
involves craftsmen working and enduring extremely cold winters to carefully create sheets
of washi. With the care that is given to making the washi, the sheets are delicate but
strong.

Using Washi(Japanese rice paper), you can an endless array of artwork such as seasonal
flowers, scenery, animals, and many other beautiful images and as originally as you
choose to be!
