ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI…FROM NEW ORLEANS TO MEMPHIS!
There is something about the Mississippi that gets in your blood and just won’t let go! On this tour we will
step back in time and travel the “Great River Road.”. After spending our first night at the magnificent Beau
Rivage in Biloxi, we will then travel to New Orleans (only an hour’s drive) where we will spend 2 nights
across from the French Quarter at the Doubletree. We’ll get our first taste of the River aboard the Creole Queen and then follow the
Great River Road to see the Southern plantations that still line the levee. Of course, there will be free time in New Orleans to explore the
French Quarter, too. We’ll tour Nottoway Plantation and have lunch in their lovely dining room before continuing to follow the mighty
Mississippi to Natchez, spending 2 nights at the historic Eola Hotel. One of the highlights of this tour will be the world-famous Natchez
Pilgrimage! We’ll tour 2 of these magnificent antebellum plantations plus have lunch at Whitehall Plantation. There will also be time to
enjoy a spectacular re-creation of life in the South before the war at the Confederate Pageant! Then, we will make our way northward,
following the River to Memphis, staying 2 nights in the Memphis/Tunica area. On the way, we will tour the Vicksburg National Military
Park. We will take a boat cruise on the Mississippi there, too; plus tour the lovely city of Memphis and have
some of their world class barbecue at Neeley’s. A visit to Graceland will be optional and on the way home, we
will stop in Tupelo, to view Elvis’ birthplace! It is amazing what they have added to this site…we were so
impressed when we visited it last year! We’ll spend our last night in Birmingham and arrive home the next
