Rhonda K. Robertson
Chief of Police
Fort Worth Police Department
“I entered the academy on July
29, 1985; and I will retire January
1, 2016. I plan on traveling and
enjoying time with family and
friends. I am also considering
beginning a Ph. D. program in the
fall of 2016 or 2017.”

Chief Rhonda Robertson has been a police officer with the Fort Worth Police Department since 1985. She served in
several areas of the Department as she promoted through the ranks. As a lieutenant, she oversaw Critical Police
Incident investigations in the Major Crimes Section, and was a Neighborhood Policing District commander. She also
served as the Public Information Officer for a brief period of time. As a captain, she commanded operations for the
East Patrol Division, the Criminal Investigations Division, and the Internal Affairs Division. In 2007, Chief Ralph
Mendoza appointed her to the rank of deputy chief; and she was assigned to the Patrol and Finance and Personnel
Bureaus. In 2013, Chief Halstead appointed her to one of the three newly created Assistant Chief positions. As an
Assistant Chief, she was assigned to the Support Bureau.
Chief Robertson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration from the University of Oklahoma
and a Master’s Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Criminology and Criminal Justice. She is also a
graduate of the 210th Session of the F.B.I. National Academy.
Chief Robertson has been married to Floyd Hopper for twenty-five years; and they have a daughter and
granddaughter. Mr. Hopper retired from the Fort Worth Police Department in 2005.
Looks like the police department in Allentown
Pennsylvania will soon begin looking for a new police
chief.
Earlier this month, Fort Worth
leaders selected
Dr. Joel Fitzgerald to lead our Fort Worth Police
Department.
FW city manager David Cooke explains what made
Dr. Joel Fitzgerald stand out among the other finalists.
“Chief Fitzgerald brings with him more than 20 years of
experience, combined with his strong leadership skills
and his
personal commitment to community
engagement and involvement, make him the best choice
to lead the FWPD….”
Chief Fitzgerald will begin his new assignment on
October 18, 2015.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual
campaign to increase awareness of the disease.
Many businesses and
organizations participate and show their support of Breast Cancer Awareness
month by decorating or wearing a multitude of items in various shades of pink.

Breast Cancer
Awareness Month
In honor of this month, Chief Robertson has approved all officers to have the
option of wearing a pink ribbon on their uniforms. Those in uniformed
positions may wear a pink
ribbon on their uniform and those that wear
departmental approved Polo’s with our Molly and FWPD monogrammed above
the left chest area, have the ability wear a Polo, in pink.
The ribbons worn by uniformed officers may be either fabric or metal.
TRICK-OR-TREAT: HELP YOUR CHILD HAVE A SPOOKY GOOD TIME!
Before leaving the home remind your little goblin that scary costumes are just pretend.
Avoid vandalism by keeping your porch lights on.
Travel in groups and remind children to remain together.
Use costume masks that provide adequate visibility & fit securely.
Use costumes with reflective tape & flame retardant material.
Choose a route of well-lit homes in familiar neighborhoods for trick-or-treating.
Have children walk on sidewalks or paths, if no sidewalks walk facing traffic.
Carry a flash light (check batteries) or a glow stick.
Remind children never to eat treats until an adult has checked them.

Americans lose an
estimated $40 billion
each year to the
fraudulent sale of
goods and services
over the telephone.
Never send money without
first discussing with a
trusted friend or a close
family member what you
plan on doing.
Know who you are
sending money to.
And remember, if it
sounds too good to be
true, it probably isn’t.
Far North Division NPOs treated Code Blue members to
a evening of appreciation. Code Blue members assisted during summertime night details. Code Blue members worked
during the hours of 11pm to 4am beginning in June to August.
Both Code Blue and NPOs joined efforts to prevent crime
by patrolling neighborhoods looking for burglary actors.
North Division is very proud of their Code Blue members.

Do You Have What it Takes to Be a Fort Worth Police Officer?
Busir Motto
FW Police Training Academy
Officer John Choyce, Recruiter
(817) 944-0184
[email protected]
If you are concerned over the shortages of police officers or the response times of
the officers in your neighborhood, you are not alone. Everyone from the caller to
the 911 Call taker, from the police dispatcher to the officer, to the person needing
help, all have at some point felt the frustration of not being able to get help sooner.
It is something that effects us all.
I recently contacted Officer John Choyce, who at the time the call was made, was
headed back to FW after attending a career fair hosted by Texas A&M
Commerce. Officer John Choyce doesn’t shy away from acknowledging that FW is in
need of police officers. But to get to that point an applicant must successfully pass a
written exam, pass a physical assessment, pass a background check, pass a
psychological examination, a polygraph examination, an interview examination and
finally a medical examination. Why does FW demand so much from an applicant
whose only desire is to become a police officer?
Because Fort Worth residents deserve only the most qualified, well informed &
skilled individuals to answer their call for help.

A Message from Your Neighborhood Police Officer
NPO P. H. Moore, #1825, Zone 2, N24
Neighborhood Crime
Watch
Homes and properties
cannot be protected 100@
of the time. Homes are
left unattended when
owners go to work, go
shopping, or on vacation.
By organizing a Neighborhood Crime Watch in your
neighborhood, neighbors
work together to reduce
crime - before it starts!
Crime Prevention is the
most logical and most
economical approach to
deter crime from happening in your neighborhoods.
We need you to consider
organizing a crime watch
group in your area. If you
are interested please call
me at @ 682-225-0517.
Thank you, Rosalinda
Begin a neighborhood
Crime Watch group in
your area.
Hello All, I am Officer Patrick H. M. Moore.
I am the Neighborhood Police Officer (NPO) assigned to the North division
Zone 2 & 3. My area is N24, which is considered the SUMMERFIELDS area.
Though it encompasses much more than that. North 24 has 13 apartment
complexes, numerous restaurants (with 4 new eateries under construction).
Along with numerous retail businesses (including medical facilities, hotels, movie
theatre just to name a few), schools include 4 elementary, 1 middle and 1 Jr.
High. A large part of N24’s area is made up of residential areas, which represents
an excellent mixture of culturally diversity.
The crime rate in this area has shown a significant drop. This is due to the continues efforts of not only the Fort Worth Police department, with special details
that target burglary of vehicles, residential burglaries and other part one crimes.
As stated this drop is also due to a large effort from our COP ‘s (Citizens On
Patrol) these citizen voluntaries work along with the police department and also
a great source of information and knowledge in and around the area. They are
also excellent ambassadors with promoting and being liaison for the police department with other citizens.
Historic Stockyards
NPO D. Shipp, #2837, N55
The Historic Stockyards beat is a very exciting place to
work. I get to meet and greet people from all parts of the
world that love the Cowboy theme.
Traditionally the Stockyard’s is well known for the night life
that represents honky tonk, dancing, and brawls, but there is
a family atmosphere during the day time hours.
Stockyards Station does an excellent job in promoting this
atmosphere by bringing vendors that are kid friendly. The
Shrine Circus will be arriving November 13th -22nd and
the Big Top performances will be in the North Forty Lot.
Remember that the crime in the Stockyards is crime of
opportunity. Be smart when you visit the Stockyards and
don’t leave items visible in your vehicle. Lock your vehicle,
hide items, or simply take them with you!!
