Club Activities & Sports
Fitness Corner

A good part of every fitness
routine involves keeping your skin
safe from the summer sun. The
outdoor activities that we all love to
partake of in the summer can be a
danger to your “skin fitness”.
Too much sunlight causes dry skin,
sunburn, heat rash and may lead to
the start of skin cancers. That tan
that many think of as healthy color
is a skin damaging color.
It’s easy to look and feel good
under the sun while protecting your
skin; here are some tips to help make
your summer a safe skin summer.
Wear proper clothing. Wear a
wide-rimmed hat to protect your
ears and neck, and sunglasses for the
skin around your eyes. If it’s too hot
outside and you don’t intend to get a
tan, wear a long-sleeved cotton shirt.
Remember: 10 to 3 is bad news.
The sun’s intensity is at the highest
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., so it’s best
to stay indoors at this time of day, or
Swimming News
Our pool has seen lots of action this Summer, with the LPYRC Summer
Sports Camp underway, the Swim Team Practices, Water Aerobics, Individuals
doing their laps for exercise, and lots of FUN in general!
Be sure to join us on July 3rd, from 12-4:00 pm poolside for our
Independence Weekend Party, with the popular waterslide, and games with
Jane and her staff. Our Dive In Movies for the Little Skippers are a popular
feature, and the next one is scheduled for Friday, July 29th. We’ll have pizza,
and enjoy the pool before the movie.
If you are interested in swim lessons or the swim team, please call
Linda in the Membership Office, (954) 942-3524 for more information.
stay under structures such as trees
and umbrellas. Here’s a tip: if you’re
out in the sun and you see that your
shadow is shorter than you are, then
the sun’s rays are at their highest.
Slather on sunscreen and
moisturizer. You can never get too
much sunscreen. Apply 30 minutes
before going out, and re-apply after
swimming or sweating. If you’ll be
staying under the sun the whole day,
apply every 2 hours. A sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 is
sufficient.
Go for the faux tan. If you just
want a darker complexion you can
skip the sun’s rays -- and the risk of
getting sunburned -- and get a
spray-on tan instead.

a raft-up. If you have any interest in
joining us for the weekends, please
e- mail me and you will be provided
all the information about each
event.
