WHAT’S INSIDE:
I
n most cases the students of MCA have parents who have made
extraordinary sacrifices to enable them to attend Christian school.
Often I am privileged to hear parents share their stories of how
the Lord has provided the financial means to insure their sons and
daughters continue the pursuit of academic excellence. The smile on
everyone’s face at graduation speaks volumes of the satisfaction of
their investment. At that
ceremony I have never
had anyone come and say
to me, “I have no idea
why we struggled so
much to make this
happen.” Actually, it has
been just the opposite. It

sounds more like, “It has been worth it

negative is a strong motivating factor.
MCA student atmosphere is
overwhelmingly where students challenge
each other to be stronger and more

all.”
Public school parents often ask Christian
school parents, “Why do your children go to
Christian school?” Let’s look at that
penetrating question for a moment. Indeed,
why should one sacrifice to enroll their
children in Metrolina Christian Academy?
4. Academic Excellence is certainly not the
least value of Christian Education.
Statistics prove that because of the
student/teacher ratio and the quality of
the instruction that graduates have a
much higher SAT and better chance at
life because of the higher standards that
are set.
1. To guarantee the opportunity to obtain a
biblical world-view. Students learn that
the Bible shapes how we think about
every realm of life, who we are, where we
came from and where we are going.
When you know those things then it
enables one to walk through this life with
great confidence. It impacts the decisions
that we make, the vocation that we
choose, the way we raise our families and
how to confront the enemy. When the
Bible becomes one’s basis for life then it
affects your response to every area of life.
Today, I praise the Lord for obedient
parents who take seriously their role to
“train up a child in the way he should go.”
All the sacrifices, time, money, energy,
commitment and inconveniences that you
make to see your sons and daughters
become mature servants of our Lord,
trained and equipped to carry out His plan
for their life will be rewarded. It may be a
simple “thank you” from them or the
ultimate “Well done, good and faithful
servant.”
2. Teachers are our mentors during these
formative years. What better mentor than
knowing our sons and daughters are
being impacted 35 hours a week by
people who are filled with God’s Holy

J
oel 1:2-3 describes so powerfully the story and testimony that God
can create in the life of individual believers and organizations that
are set apart for His glory. These verses tell us when God writes
the story it will be unique and special as evidenced by the question of
“has anything like this happened before?” Verse three goes on to
instruct us that it will be a story we will want to pass to the generations
to come. Metrolina
Christian Academy is
such a story. There is no
explanation for our
school other than God.
He has set this school
apart for the last 23
years as a place that
would train champions for Christ and seek
to bring Him glory! God has written this
school’s story throughout its history and it is
indeed a special and unique place.
God has given us an incredible spiritual
legacy here at Metrolina. More than 2200
students have received Christ as Savior in
our history and many more have deepened
their walk with God while here.
Additionally, God’s story for Metrolina has
unfolded over the years into a strong and
vibrant community of families who make up
this school.
As we look forward to the start of the 20152016 school year, I am so excited for all
God has in store for us. Our theme verses
for this school year will come from Joel 1:23 with the tagline of “What’s Your Story?”
We want this school year to be about
drawing students, staff, and families back to
the idea of allowing our great God to write
the story of our lives.
God has so much more planned and in
mind for our lives than we could ever think
or imagine. My prayer is that we would
allow God to write our individual stories
and then in turn we would pass these God
stories down to the next generation.
Similarly, my desire is that the faculty and
staff will continue to pass God’s story so
powerfully off to our students so they will
one day do even greater works for the
Kingdom.
The Annual Cornerstone Fund has made it
possible for God to continually write His
story here at Metrolina. This fund has done
so by helping us to grow our program while
still keeping our tuition affordable for the
average middle class family. Once again, I
ask you to consider how God might use you
this coming year to support the cause of
Christian education at Metrolina Christian
Academy.
We have a new two-building campaign
called “Limitless” and we will shortly see the
fruit of Phase One – Math and Science
Building. However, the needs of our school
are still very great and could be best
described as God-sized needs. One of our
top priorities now is that we press on
towards raising the funds needed for the
development and completion of the Phase
Two - Fine Arts Building.
I ask that you pray about how you might be
involved in helping our school impact more
students for the cause of Christ through the
Annual Cornerstone Fund. Always
remember that no gift is too small.
From Our
Head of School
“Hear this, you leaders of the people.
Listen, all who live in the land. In all your
history, has anything like this happened
before? Tell your children about it in the
years to come, and let your children tell
their children. Pass the story down from
generation to generation.” - Joel 1:2-3
Thank you for your love and support! It is
going to be a great year in the life of our
school and I look forward to seeing you
soon!
Sincerely,
Rev. Rick Calloway

accomplish our mission of educating our
precious children for the cause of Christ
without our volunteers. While it is
impossible to tally the countless hours
poured into our school through the efforts
of our dedicated volunteers—parents,
grandparents, alumni and friends; it is
possible to say that their shared sacrifice and
service made a difference in the life of our
school during the 2014-2015 school year.
“For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus
unto good works, which
God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them.”
- Ephesians 2:10
Thank you to all the volunteers for giving so
generously of their time, talents and
resources to minister to Metrolina Christian
Academy. Whether in big or small ways,
each volunteer blessed MCA and our
students through their service. God bless
you!

METROLINA STUDENTS SERVICE PROJECTS…
SHARING CHRIST WITH OUR COMMUNITY
Project Serve:
Students
Hearts for Service | Servant Leadership | Students in Action
One of the objectives of here at MCA is to show students that part of sharing Christ with our community involves some hands-on interaction
at times. Each year our teachers and students are encouraged to find ways to serve our neighbors in outreach projects. Below are listed this
year’s projects.
 The TK class made several visits to the
FBCIT Boomers & Beyond group. The TK
students sang and passed out seasonal
crafts to the senior citizens. 
 Kindergarten ministered to Mrs. Margie
Berry and Mrs. Frances Williams by
sending holiday decorations and praying for
these widow ladies.
 First grade students wrote letters to
veterans and created Butterfly Hugs.
 Second grade ministered to their high
school reading buddies through cards and
crafts.
 Third graders visited with the residents of
Brookdale Assisted Living. They shared
crafts, songs and scriptures. 
 Fourth graders raked leaves for widow Jean
Tomlinson. 
 Fifth grade made its annual visit to JAARS
Center where they provided cookies and
Christmas decorations. They also
performed Christmas songs for the JAARS
members.
 Sixth grade students visited with FBCIT
Boomers & Beyond group quarterly. The
sixth grade also adopted the Oliveira IT
team for the year. They prayed for them
and gave them seasonal crafts/decorations.
 Seventh graders participated in a campuswide recycling program. They collected and
delivered to the recycling center weekly,
September through May.
 Eighth graders assisted FBCIT with
backpack ministry once per quarter.
 The tenth grade Bible classes visited with
the residents at Carillon Assisted Living.
They read the Bible with them and sang
songs to them. 
 Eleventh graders acted as Reading Buddies
to Lower School classes. 
“This service that you perform is not only
supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is
also overf lowing in many expressions of thanks
to God.” - II Corinthians 9:12
10
 Twelfth grade spent a day sorting and
packing shoeboxes at Operation Christmas
Child. 
 Sassy Sampler students made ornaments
for the residents of Carillon Assistant
Living and Woodridge Assisted Living
Communities.
 Lower School Student Council assisted
with the counting of pennies during the
Penny Wars which was part of the
Cornerstone Kick-Off.
 Christian Leadership students read with the
students in the Early Education Center
from the 2-year-old's through K4 every
Wednesday afternoon.
 High School Student Government
participated in Beautification Day, which
involved landscaping, general cleaning and
maintenance on the MCA campus. Also,
officers decorated and kept up the bulletin
boards for high school teachers.
The Cornerstone
Fund
Each year, one of the many ways God
supplies the needs of Metrolina Christian
Academy is through the Cornerstone Fund,
the school’s annual giving program. The
funds raised annually through the
Cornerstone Fund provide a strong
foundation to the continued growth of
MCA’s ministry. By supporting the
Cornerstone Fund, you allow the school to
add the “extras” to many of its programs
sooner than they would otherwise be
available to our students, faculty and
coaches.
The Advancement Office annually
coordinates a variety of special events and
programs to raise funds for the school.
The funds raised from these special events
and programs, as well as other designated
contributions received from donors,
comprise the Cornerstone Fund.

W
hat a privilege it is to be a part of Metrolina Christian
Academy and see what God is doing daily in the life of our
school and students. Our theme for the 2014-15 annual
Cornerstone Fund was ‘Be the Light’ – Matthew 5:16. It fills my heart
with joy to experience and celebrate the many God-moments that
occur throughout our campus, because I know we are equipping our
young people to make a
difference for the cause
of Christ and to ‘let their
light so shine’. Thank
you for generously
investing in Metrolina
Christian Academy. It is
because of your
generosity and the Lord’s blessing that MCA
is able to shape the hearts and minds of our
young people to be leaders for Christ.
providing your prayers. God has truly used
you to help advance the ministry of MCA.
Thank you for being the light for MCA!
The annual report is our opportunity to
demonstrate MCA’s good stewardship to all
you have entrusted to us.
Thank you again for richly blessing MCA
and for loving our school. May the Lord
bless you and your family.
In His Service,
I also consider it a privilege and a blessing to
share this annual report with you. You
invest in MCA in so many ways:
volunteering your time and talents, faithfully
and generously supporting our annual giving
opportunities and most importantly

“Every man according as he
purposeth in his heart, so
let him give, not grudgingly,
or of necessity: for God loveth a
cheerful giver.” - II Corinthians 9:7
Special Events &
Fundraisers
With the start of 2015, Metrolina Christian Academy launched its first on-campus
construction project, the Limitless Building Campaign. The new buildings will add nearly
10,000 square feet of educational space for our students. The goal is to build debt free and
have construction completed by 2017. (Phase 1 - Math & Science Building: Projected CompletionDecember 2015)
The Limitless Building Campaign involves the construction of two new educational buildings
that will reshape Metrolina Christian Academy’s campus, expand our community and
enhance the quality of programs available for all age groups for many years to come. MCA
has always been a place where we have seen our students soar academically, and more
importantly, blessed to see God move powerfully in their lives. Our desire for the facility
expansion is best expressed by the truth found in Proverbs 24:3-4 -“A house is built by
wisdom and becomes strong through good sense. Through knowledge its rooms are
filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables.”
Please note: The donors listed below contributed to the Limitless Building Campaign from July 1, 2014
through June 30, 2015.
