Aalborg Carnival
• The largest carnival in Northern Europe with up to 25,000
carnivalists in the Grand Parade and more than 100,000
spectators

• Close to 13600 students – 12.5% are international students
• ~ 3500 students enrolled at the Faculty of Humanities
• ~ 4600 students enrolled at the Faculty of Social Sciences

Project groups
Group sizes:
• Fall semester; normally 3-5 persons,
• Thesis projects; normally 1 or 2, (but 3 is allowed)
Supervisor: Each group gets assigned a project
supervisor, who supports the project, gives advise
and feedback to drafts, etc.
• Normal to have fixed meeting times once per week
Students form the groups themselves + select their
project during the first week of the semester.
• Groups are formed from professional interests in
the project subjects, but also from personal
preferences

VGIS programme overview
1st semester: Networks and Distributed Processing (with VGIS
oriented project and supervision)
2nd semester: Synthesis and Analysis of Images
3rd semester: Advanced Interactive Systems
• Work with advanced theories and techniques from the core
disciplines of the specialization: vision, graphics, and
interactive systems. Furthermore, the presented theories
and techniques shall be applied in the context of interactive
systems.

Vision and graphics projects are quite often with a substantial
interactive system element, both during your studies but also
later in your carreer
The VGIS master’s programme also contains as an important
element the study of interactive system aspects with focus on
the systems and integration issues, and in combination with
other modalities such as speech input

Comment se déplacer ?
Vous avez la possibilité de vous mettre en colocation avec qui vous voulez.
Pour ma part, j’ai été affecté dans une belle maison de huit étudiants :
1 français ING 3 de l’ECE
1 française ING 5 de l’ECE
1 estonien en Master 1 d’électronique
1 chinois en Master 1 de communication
1 lituanienne en Master 1 de management 1 canadienne en Master 1 de marketing
1 polonaise en Master 2 d’économie
Nous partageons une cuisine et une salle de bains à trois.
Prix du logement : 17 000 DKK ~ 2 300 € pour six mois (~ 380 €/mois)
Il existe trois moyens de se déplacer à Aalborg.
1)La marche à pied
Aalborg est une grande ville mais le centre-ville, les logements et l’université sont
relativement proches. Marcher est donc un très bon moyen de transport !
2) Le vélo
La plupart des étudiants achètent un vélo sur place (1 000 DKK ~ 150 €) et le revendent
en fin d’année pour le même prix.
Pour ma part, une dizaine de vélos se trouvaient dans le garage de ma maison.
3) Le bus
Les bus sont très grands et de très bonne qualité mais coûtent relativement cher. Un ticket
coûte 18 DKK ~ 2,5 €, et la carte mensuelle 150 DKK ~ 20 €.

A propos du système d’enseignement
Ce qui m’a étonné :
Les cours en TD n’existent pas. Ils ont un système de « Group' room ».
Qu’est ce qu’un Group' room ?
C’est une salle située dans l’université réservée à chaque groupe d’élèves (4 ou 5).
Tout le monde se déplace à vélo
Ils peuvent y accéder 24h/24 et ont chacun une clé.
Tous les danois sont bilingue anglais
Comment est la charge de travail ?
Ils ne connaissent pas les cahiers : ils n’utilisent que des feuilles
Le niveau des cours et des exercices est très élevé.
Ils sont très accueillants et ouverts
Étant donné que le planning d’une semaine classique est plutôt « light », le travail personnel est
par conséquent énorme.
Les magasins sont ouverts le dimanche
Personne n’utilise d’anti-vol
Les casquettes et les capuches sont autorisées en cours
Les rues sont extrêmement propres
Les boissons sont à volonté au McDonald’s
Deux fois par semaine ont lieu des meetings avec notre superviseur de projet pour faire le
point et discuter des tâches à venir.
(rappel : le projet compte pour 2/3 dans la validation du semestre)
Les pizzas familiales coûtent 4,5 €
Les jardins sont ouverts sur la rue : il n’y a pas de portail
