Installation
When you insert disc A, you should be presented with a box on your screen
similar to the above. If you have not done so already before, you should click
on the Install button. The program will guide you through the installation;
make sure that you DO install the Indeo Codecs when prompted as these are
required for the program to run.
When installed the program will add shortcuts to your Start menu as shown
below.
The two discs both contain different data so you need to install them both.
The program will place two shortcuts into the Atlas folder in your start menu,
one for disc A and one for disc B. You need to have the appropriate disc in
the drive when you click on the shortcut to load the program.
For example, running the disc A shortcut will allow you to access the Pictures,
Videos, Maps and Town Plans in the program. Running the Disc B shortcut
will allow you to access the higher detail maps. Both discs will allow you to
access the lower-detail maps.
Getting Started
When you load the program you should see a box similar to the one below.
Note that it tells you if it is loading the ‘Disc A’ or ‘Disc B’ part of the program.
Once the program has loaded you will see the following screen:-
There are various options you can click on at the bottom of the screen to
access the different parts of the program. Please note that you can get much
more detail on what each of these features is and how to use them by clicking
on ‘Help’ at the bottom-right of the screen.
Loading A Map
To access a map, click on ‘Search’ on the bottom of the screen, then choose
a place name from the list and double-click it to display the map. Doubleclicking again anywhere on the map will zoom in; double-clicking with the
right-mouse button will zoom out.
To get access to the higher-detail Ordnance Survey maps, you must run the
program from Disc B. Click Search, then click Maps and double-click on a
place name to see the higher detail map.
The above is a sample of one of larger scale maps available on Disc B. You
can use the scroll bars at the bottom and right of the map to see more of the
map.
Adding Pins
You can mark your own annotated places to the map by adding pins. Click
on the Add Pin button at the bottom of the screen, and then click where you
want to add a pin on the map. You should see the following box appear:-
You can add a picture, text and a web address if you wish for each pin. As a
minimum you must add a title for the pin and place it in a group. If no groups
exist you must click ‘Add New Group’ and type in a name for the group.
Clicking OK will then add the pin to the map, it should look similar to the
following:-

The program will not let me add any more map pins.
This problem can occur if the name of a pin group that you have created is
changed. Once a pin group name is changed you may find that any pins
within that group disappear and you will not be able to place any more pins on
the map. The only way around this at present is to uninstall the software,
delete the UserPins directory within the program directory (C:\ATTICA\IAGB4
for OS4 or C:\Program Files\Ordnance Survey\IAGB5 for OS5) which is left
after uninstallation. Then re-install the program and you will be able to start
again.
Error referencing IAGB5 caused an Invalid Page fault in IR41_32.DLL.
This may be due to an incompatibility with your graphics card and the current
display settings. Do the following to overcome the problem.
> Select START, then SETTINGS, and select the Control Panel
> Double click on DISPLAY to display the display properties.
> Click on the SETTINGS tab on the display box.
> Check that the Desktop area "slider" set to 800x600 or greater.
> Change the colour palette to 24 bit or 32 bit colour.
> Click on OK, and reboot if required.
"Display size" error or Things not placed correctly on the screen / things
missing.
Try the following, which should help here:
> Select START, then SETTINGS, and select the Control Panel
> Double click on DISPLAY to display the display properties.
> Click on the SETTINGS tab on the display box.
> Check that the Desktop area (or Screen area) "slider" set to 800x600.
> Click on OK, and reboot if required.
The software should now work properly.

We have examined this problem carefully, and have tracked down the most
likely cause to Pinnacle Systems Capture cards, if you have such a product
inside your pc and are having this problem then you can be almost sure of
this.
Possible solutions to this problem:
Un-install the drivers + software for your Capture Card, Install the Indeo 5
codecs from the CD and then re-install the Pinnacle drivers and software, that
has been known to work, but you will have to try it.
Contact Pinnacle Technical Support and explain the problem, a new driver
may fix the problem, failing they should be able to help.
Adding a pin with OS Atlas 4th or 5th edition
1. Click on ‘Add Pin’ on the bottom menu of the program screen.
2. Select a group for the pin (i.e. caravan site etc). If the group list is blank
then a group needs to be created using the ‘Add New Group’ option.
3. Enter the Pin Name (i.e. our chalet).
4. Click on ‘Ok’.
The pin will be added for the currently selected zoom level. If you view the
map at a different zoom level the pin will not be seen.
