THE HUBUB
Transistor is Duluth’s best
free entertainment calendar,
distributed every Monday to
over 70 high-traffic distribution points in Duluth, MN,
and Superior, WI.
Clean and concise; edgy,
colorful and irreverent; the
Transistor is for residents
and visitors who are looking
for art and entertainment
in the Twin Ports. The new
“broadsheet” size has condensed the same amount of
relevant calendar information into a smaller, more eye
catching format.
THE *BEST* CALENDAR
We provide the most comprehensive, up-to-date local
arts and entertainment calendar featuring an array
of traditional and outsider
events appealing to wide audiences: students during the
school year, tourists in the
summer, and your friends
and neighbors all year
round. Limited calendar
space, combined with informed event research, and
active hunting for hidden
entertainment gems makes
this the most credible calendar they will reference all
week, every week.
COLUMNS
Every week features local
writers covering a variety
of alternative topics, with a
distinctive, bitingly funny
voice. Writers have included: Teague Alexy, Wendy
Grethen, Erik Kalstrom, Ann
Klefstad, Mark Lindquist,
Paul Lundgren, Patrick McKinnon, DJ Mouse, John Ramos, Jim and Alan Richardson, Anna Tennis, and more.
COMICS
Israel Malachi, Emily Michog, Chris Monroe, Jim Richardson, Andrew Stern, Adam
Swanson, and Chris Warne.

audience where they live,
work, and play. The Transistor
distributes
1,000
copies every week. The
broadsheet format is designed for optimal counter
space visibility and portability, encouraging locals,
students, and tourists alike
to pick one up and put it in
their pocket.
Distribution is every Monday to high foot-traffic areas like UMD, downtown
Duluth, Dewitt-Seitz, UWS,
Lincoln Park, Spirit Valley, as well as restaurants,
breweries, nightlife venues,

MISCELLANEOUS
After a hiatus, Monthly
Open Mic Prose is on at
the Amazing Grace again.
Put on by Lake Superior
Writers, and hosted by
Paulette Warren, writers
will be given around five
minutes to speak their
piece. The suggested format is to open with a one
sentence bio, and then a
sentence or two from another writer that you find
inspiring. It has no need
to be tied to the piece you
read, which can be any
form of prose. Genre or
subject matter is irrelevant, and truthiness need
not be considered. If its
prose you’ve written, you
can read it. Sign up starts
at 5:30PM, readings start
at 6PM. Monday, June 13.
