EXECUTIONS . Evangelos Voutsadepoulos. was sentenced to death by
the German Martial Court of Athens, for printing
secret newspapers and executed on the 16/10/43.
On the 2/11/43, 8 'persons were . executed in Athens
for oommunisM and spying. Only the.names of the following 4are known. 1) Alexandr0 Kairie 2) Constandinos Maoris, aged
20-'3) Evangelos Papadas, from Thebes, aged 19- 4) I.oukas TSQUstas, shepheard, from Ievadia, aged 22On the 27th November 1943, 1) Conatandinos Ventouris
,
2) Vassilios Skareas 3) Ilias Tsamouranis 4) Ioannis . Kilados,
detained as Communists, were executed in Athens on November 27th
1943, in reprisal for acts against the occupation authorities.
In jaauary 1944, the German authorities in Athens
'announced the execution of 30 hostages, in reprisal for the murder of a soldier belonging to the Secutity Battalions.
MURDERS In July 1943, a German soldier attacked a young man
.aged 18-at Kallithea (Athens) who was trying to fill
up his lighter with petrol leaking from the german's car. He
was beaten so savagely that he died.
On the 5/8/43, theGermans executed without trial the
following in reprisal for the murder of 4 german officers.

From reports received on the 7/9,/43, we learn that 3civilians were executed without trial in AMphilohia.
In September 1943, Germans murdered many inhabitants
of Astakos,.in reprisal for Guerillas activity. The number of
victims is yet unknown.
In' September 1943, Mytika villagê waS- shelled from the
sea: 29 inhabitants Were killed: Few days later, german detaohments . attacked the village and slaughtered Most of women and
children.

T'roM information dated the 12/10/43, we learn that the
german authorities hanged 8 civilians in Agrinion, because telegraph wires had been cut betWOen Agrinion and kheloos bridge.
In December 1943; german_detachments killed many peasants in Zaklarovi village
In December 1943, tie unarmed population of Zapanos
village was deported to Agrinion. During the 'transport 2 men were
killed by the German guards.
ARRESTS
In April 1943, 60 civili ans were arrestedas hostages
in Platistomon village.( Akarnania). Nothing more of
their fate is known.:
Aftr ItalY's collapse, 21 hostages from Samos together
with 81 . others detained ab Communi sts escaped from 'Teas concentration camp to Syros.
- 2 In October 1943, the Germans recaptured them and sent the
21 hostages to the Averoff prisons, keeping the Communists..on
Syros island.
In December 1943, German detachments arrested 5 inhabitants
of Asprokampos village. (Akarnania) in reprisal for Guerilla
activity.
. During the same period 30 inhabitants of Bouzi village were
'arrested and detained as hostages.
After December 1943,.Gertans made chance arrests Of civi- •
Ilan's in the streets of Athens employing them for small compulsory work, such as the transport or officers luggages, cleaning s houses, etc. During December 1943, 15 inhabitants walking
peacefully in the street(amongst them were 2 phYsicians)were
arrested and compelled to carry the luggage of German officers.
In January 1944, Athanassios Loukas, was arrested in Athens
for being a member of a National Organisation. He is detained
it the Athens prisons. During his interrogation, he was savagely
tortured and had all his teeth extracted.
About the same period, Evangelia Reizi, aged 14, was arrested and detained in prison in order to compell her father and
brother to give themselves up.
IMPRISON:TT/ITS In April 1943,
Frs. - Katehaki, Miss Petrahaki and
another girl (name unknown), all employees of'
the "Bank of Greede" Were arrested in Athens for distributing
clandestine newspapers. They were condemned to 3 1/2 years imprisonment and sent to Italian prisons, from where they were
released after the Italian armistice.'
On the 28/8/43, Ioannis Peristerakis, Stamatelos from
Dovrena and Karamboghias were arrested by German detachments
in Thebes for partaking in the Guerilla movement and were sent
before the Athens Martial Courts. Karamboghias was. condemned
to 8 years imprisonment, Stamatelos was found not guilty and
Peristerakis - was detained as P.O.W.
ILL-TREATMENTS In August 1943, German soldiers entered in the
house of Vassiliou Tatti in N. Smyrni (Athens)
and attempted to rape his wife. The neighbours ran to help and .
succeeded in saving her. Two men of the Tatti household were
left unconscious from blows received from the Germans. .
In September 1943, :Lieut. Loilosi was-seriously wounded by german soldier in Athens, because he refused to
get off a tram when ordered to do.so .
On the 21/11/43,Ai'rs. Palaska, aged 70, was
arrested by the German Security Battalion in Tea Smyrni.(Athens)
because I. Ghemenakie, her nephew who was wanted, was found in
her house. During the interrogation
the unfortunate
woman was tortured and.h few days later released in a.very poor
state of. health.
German soldiers using as excuse the discovery
of arms bought from Italians,. search every house in Athens, robbing and ill-treating the inhabitants. Thus, they entered Major
Kyriazi Drossos' house and threatening him with their pistols,.
robbed him from an important sum of money.
CONCTMRATION CAMPS On the 26/10/43, 43 Greek hostages were sent
to Germany from Ghoudi (Athens). concentration camp. 18 of these had been arrested in Krokeon (S.,arta)
and 11 in Patras. 521 hostages arrested in Kalama are detained in
the Ghoudi conceltration camp. They were taken on foot to Athens
as was reported in Bulletin C.41Hostages from Kalamas are
also detained in Haidari concentration camp. In all some C00- hostages from Kalamas are detained in these two camps.
- 3 On the 3/11/43, 173 hostages of Kalamas were released
from Haidariou concentration camp.

ACTS OP •HSON During September 1943, - Koukouta village (Thebes
area) was burnt to the ground.
In November 1943, the Villages of Parnis,Skourta •
Pyli,Kavossila,Krora and Pyrghos were burnt to the ground by German detachments. Many of the women and children were killed.
The following villages were also butnt to the

ground ;- AriliaZirika, Aghios Isukas;Aghios SraphimpAno Kalivia, Variani, Ano •ouvala,Kato Souvala, Kato Aghoriani. Many
of the women and children werS killed. The villageä hravia,
Koukovitsa and Ano and Mato Yousounitsa were bombed by air by
16 German planes.

villages were burnt to the ground.

Tho monasteries of Aghia Lavra and Yegha Spyleon were
e,lt en fire by the Germans..All the monks in the latter
as wc11 as 3 Seminarics were executed: Their bodies were thrown
down precipices near the monastery.
On the 10/9/43, 3 german soldiers were killed at Hani,
between Sidirokastron and Sidirohorion (ressinia) villages. In
reprisal, the germand shelled and set fire toSiAirokastron village,
killing the following :- 1) Christos KOnstandipidis : 2) Efstathios
Pc!tropoulos 3) Geolge ; kndreopoulos and 4) Kyrilicou.Yaima.,

Ghazou.
On the 13/9/43; 10 inhabitants of Kalama were executed be
cause arms were found in the town.
About the same period a woman was killed.by German soldiers
during a manifestation.'
Dimitri Tsagris who was arrested on the 25/9/43 with 5 other
civilians by the Gythion german authorities for unknown reasons, was killed by a german soldier who thought that he was
attempting to escape from prison. •
Theodoros Simopoulos aged'25 years was executed at Meghaloupolis. in November 1943, because stores intended for the Guerillas were found hidden in his house.
George Trembelas was hanged at Meghaloupolis for being a member of a National Organisation.
In November 1943, Germans hanged 51 hostages in Hilous. Their
bodies were left hanging for 3 days.
On the 3/11/43, 4 german soldiers were found killed in Skala,
Tsoukaleika and Aghia Flora (Yessinia) . villages area. In reprisal 230 ,.inhabitants of these villages were shot.
In Diavolitsion (Yessinis) 70 ciVilians were arrested for belonging to:!National Organisations. 17 of then . including 4 railway
.employees were executed without trial on the 7/11/43,
On the 8/11/43, 200 inhabitants of Barbati (Arghos) village.
were executed in reprisal for the murder of 4 german soldiers.
On the 26/11/43, George Koronios, Prokopios Tsoukanas alias
Frangos, Christos Papailiou alias Paloumbas, Sotirios Hronopoulos and Athanassios Hrissovissiotis were executed in reprisal for Guerillas activities. .
On the 26/11/43, the Germans in Sparta executed the following
hostages in reprisal for Guerillas activities. :1 Christos Karvounis

ganisation were arrested when German detachment altered Nazeika. On the 8/12/43, they were tortured and then killed.
In December 1943, 5 inhabitants of Kato Vlassia village
were killed-and 5 houses burnt.
20-30 inhabitants were killed when Ano and Kato Zagorou
were set on fire.
.40 inhabitants were killed when Rougkas village was set
on fire in December 1943.
From reports received on the 12/12/43, we learn that 50inhabitants of Ahladokampos were hanged by the Germans.
From reports received on the 12/12/43, we learn that 30hostages of Pattas were hanged by the Germans, The President
and members of the War lasualties Association were amongst
those executed.'
FT= reports received on the 28/12/43, 40 hostages of Tripi
village were hanged in reprisal for Guerilla activities.
On the 18/1/44, 18 hostages were hanged in Teghean . by the
Germans in reprisal for the murder of a German .soldier.
ARRESTS On the 11/10/43, German detachments attacked the Rahi
quarter (Ghithion) and arrested all the inhabitants
taking them to Sparta. They then set fire to all the 23 houses
of Rahi quarter and shelled it to complete destruction.
On the- 21/10/43, German authorities arrested 44 persons
in Sparta as well as• all male inhabitants of Yaghoula Community,
numbering some 179. All were 7-.nt as hostages to Korinthos,
Athens and Tripoli. Panayottis Andretsakis is amongst those
arrested.
During'November 1943, 20 inhabitants of Yeghaloupolis

From information received on the 3/11/43, 130 inhabitants were arrested by the Germans from Pyrghetos,Kranea,
Alghani and Ipsani villages, in reprisal for sabotage commit-.
tect.on the railway line. 85 of these were released and the remainder detained with the threat that they would be executed .

ACTS OF ARSON Yeteora monasteries have not escaped from the
general destruction of Thessaly. Only walls are
still standing and all the fine workth of art which the monasteries housed.have all been bombed to dust by the German artillery.
During September 1943, Flambouron,Farnaki and
Gioukovon villages of Thessaly were set on fire.
The Kastania, Vilgitsa,Pepinitsa,Kotortsi and
Klinovos villages were completely destroyed.

Salonica for Spying. luring his arrest a friend
of his named Nikos was killed. Mihalas was 'sentenced to death
by the German Martial Court of Salonica and executed or December

MURDERS On the 25/7/43, 2 Greek merchants crossing SalonicaLarissa railway line near Pourliä place, were shot by
the German guards and robbed.
ARRESTS In January 1943,.the-ZGermans in reprisal for Guerilla
activities, arrested 5.0 inhabit fants_Of Morns: village'.
(Ekaterini) as hostages. A few days they were liberated
by Guerillas.
On the 6/5/43,'600 civilians were arrested as hostages
in Ekaterini. During the same month another 300 were arrested
in Saloniea . in reprisal-for the refusal-of the Guerillas to
cease hostilities and surrender.
On the 16/8/43, 80 persons were arrested and detained
for 46 days in the Eptapyrghion- prisons (Salonica),Ticolas
Karazissis and Const. Karazissis, arrested with the above-for
attempting to escape to M.. were tortured.
On the 15/12/43, a german-bulgarian detachment encircled Aghios Nicelas (Halkidiki) village in order to arrest sone.

The same ship shelled Prokopion village.
On the 25/9/43, an m gagemeht took place in Halkis
. between Austrian and .German soldiers in which 2 Germans were k4led. The German authorities arrested 20 hostages
from the towh, in reprisal for this.•
The population of Halkis aroused by this tried to prevent them being taken to Athens. The Germans replied
by arresting another 30 hostages and 5 Greek gendarmes, all of
whom were sent to Athens.
On the 8/12/43,'60 inhabitants of the Island were* arrested and, sent to Halkis prisons, in . reprisal for Guerilla
activities. All have been strictly isolated and are being illtreated.
In December 1943, 80 inhabitants of Filla,and Afrati

(Halkis) villages were arrested by German detachments as hostages in reprisal for Guerilla activity in this area. All were
