 Where: Grand Rapids Children’s Museum When: Thursday, July 17th from 5:30-­‐7:30 pm JOIN THE GRAND RAPIDS CHILDREN’S MUSEUM AND TRAVELER’S TRUNK PUBLISHING ON THURSDAY, JULY 17TH, FOR AUTHORPALOOZA! A family-­‐friendly event where kids will receive free books and get the chance to meet local authors. Traveler’s Trunk Publishing is dedicated to promoting literacy in children, and is excited to find new opportunities that not only help kids discover new books, but also help fuel their desire to read more. The goal of the AuthorPalooza! is to create a unique and personal interactive experience where kids can meet local authors and get free copies of their work – enriching their overall experience with books. This year’s event coincides with “Family Night” at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, where admission is only $1.50 per person, ages 1 year and above. The authors participating in this year’s event include the following award-­‐winners: • Ryan Hipp – an author/illustrator from Grand Rapids honored by the Michigan Reading association as recipient of the Gwen Frostic Award – for work greatly impacting literacy. Ryan is the leading expert in Michigan on fostering visual literacy and creative thought; with 10 years experience and research in the field. He actively gives presentations to aid educators to inspire and motivate young people. Ryan is dedicated to helping kids achieve their goals and overcome life’s obstacles as depicted in his newest book, Little Steps. • Shirley Neitzel – Cascade Township children’s author and recipient of the Michigan Reading Association’s Gwen Frostic Award, Neitzel is also a founding member of Peninsula Writers – an organization that promotes standards of excellence for the teaching of writing. We will also be featuring these local authors and illustrators: • Amanda Litz – author of various children’s fiction including chapter books, early readers, and a picture book. Her latest release is The Traveler’s Trunk: Medieval Quest. • Christy Beckwith – illustrator of multiple books including The Great Gumshoe: The Case of the Missing Bear and The Traveler’s Trunk: Medieval Quest. • Katie Seifert – author of four picture books. Her most recent title is Littleleaf Linden. • Laura Becklar – author of an interactive, rhyming picture book called, Bumblebee Bumblebee. • Lisa Orchard – author of the YA mystery series, The Super Spies. Her latest book is The Super Spies and the Pied Piper. (continued) •

Dave Stricklen – author of the YA fantasy series, Blackwater Pond. His newest book is Through the Eyes of the Beast. Tess Grant – an author of literary suspense in addition to her YA series, The Kitty Irish Trilogy, complete with her third book Flying in the Dark. Sharon Willett – author of a middle-­‐grade trilogy including, Country and the Rock and Country Captured. Anneke Huisman – author and illustrator of two picture books. Her lasts release is Wet Giraffe.
