Novi Pazar is economic, cultural and university center of the Sandzak region,
located in the south-west part of the Serbia, at the crossroads of routes from Belgrade
(280km) to Podgorica (220km), Sarajevo (200km) through Priština (125km) to Skopje
(195km). Novi Pazar is the section of road which connects through Ibarska main road
central and eastern Serbia with the Adriatic Sea. Distance of the airports: Niš airport
(190km), Priština airport (130km) and potential proximity of the airports with existing
infrastructures: Dubinje in Sjenica (39km), Ladjevci in Kraljevo (120km), and airport in
Berane (94km) make Novi Pazar accesible to the world. Novi Pazar is the city located in
the valley of the seven rivers: the Jošanica, the Raška, the Dezevska, the Ljudska, the
Trnavica, the Banjska, the Tušimska i the Sebecevska, at the altitude of 496 meters. It is
surrounded by high peaks Golija (1833m), Rogozna (1479m) and the Plateau of
Preševska, according to the north-east opened to the Kopaonik Mauntain. The area of
Novi Pazar is 742 square km with 99 populated places, and the city with surrounding
area has about 125 thousand inhabitans. According to statistics the city of Novi Pazar is
the youngiest city in Serbia, the average age is 35 years. Children up to 18 years make
up 25% of the total population, and over 60% of population consists of children and
young people under 40 years old.

Mountain Golija
THE MOUNTAINS
The Golija Mountain is the northern edge of valley of Novi Pazar. The highest peak
is Janko's stone (1833m). Below the mountain slopes are springs of Rivers: the Ljudska, the
Dezevska, the Moravica and the Studenica. The Golija Mountain is under UNESCO
protection and the border park area, which inludes cities and municipalities (Ivanjica,
Kraljevo, Raška, Novi Pazar and Sjenica), is precisely defined.
The Rigozna Mountain is a part of south-east edge of valley of Novi Pazar, and gives a
lenght of 20km.

primary, and one lower class music school, five secondary

The main significant of water flow has river the Raska with area of 1193 square km.
Total length water flows network is 876,500 km.
Spa of the Novi Pazar is a rich sourse of thermal-mineral water (15-52 C). According to its
chemical properties, this water belongs to the sulfur hyper termal water. This water
treating rheumatic diseases and the consequences of injury and with termal threatments
helps in the rehabilitation of disability.
Rajcinovic's Spa has a termal springs with temperature range from 30-40 degrees. General
operating capacity of three springs are about 146.000 liters in 24 hours. This water
belongs to the alkali-acid character of the hyper termal water.

are Bosnians, Serbs and others.

Starting from 1990 there is a rapid development of the private sector. A large number of private
enterprises, shops, agencies and others have been establishing.
The greatest resources of Novi Pazar are creative people. Over 700 private companies are engaged
in the production of clothing, footwear and furniture, services and trade. Novi Pazar is currently the
largest producer of jeans clothing in the Republic of Serbia. Textile and clothing industry during the
last few decades root in the city, giving a significant contribution to its economy. The number of
employees and other real economic indicators in private enterprise is increasingly gaining
importance in relation to the social economy.

During time of establishment in the city of Novi Pazar was an important
economic center. Renewal of the road network to Novi Pazar, created prosperously
climate for development of the city through connection with other markets.
The economy structure is moving in the direction of the dominant role of industry
(textiles, leather shoes, wood and timber industry), with strong decline with a greater
share of tertiary activity and services, especially in the private sector.
The introduction of market principles and economic restructuring, development of
the private sector gets more and more important, so that private capital goes slowly in
all economic activities.
The investing in the development of industry and other fields have achieved major
results on the economic strengthening of Novi Pazar, which will be through the
sustainable development and creating a favorable climate for investors to achieve

TOURISM
One of the most populated territories was the valley of the river Raska. Located
in the plain area in the middle field of Novi Pazar, the city of the Novi Pazar was
originally conceived as a base for further penetration of the Turks to the north.
Between 1459 and 1461 hit the foundations of the city at the mouth of the river,
Jošanica and Raska, and gave his name Yeni Bazar, apropos Novi Pazar. Its founder was
the Turkish Beg, Isa-Beg Isakovic. Passing over it important roads which connect
Dubrovnik, Bosnia and the south coast to Thessaloniki and Constantinople. In the
middle of the bazaar was located with the shops of craftsmen and merchants.
According to Evlija Çelebija, they were about 1100. Around bazaar were a number of
momentum in which the inhabited, and in each there was waved mosques.
Altun Alem Mosque
Altun Alem mosque is located in the central part of the Prvomajska Street. Turkish
traveler Evlija Çelebija, who traveled through this region sixties of the seventeenth
century, wrote: “The mosque called Altuna-Alem is old prayer, and is located in Jeleè
waved at Constantinople road. It is known that Altuna-Alem mosque built, midsixteenth century Musluhudin Abdul Gani. The exact year of construction Altuna-Alem
mosque is not known, but assumed that it could be between 1516th and 1528th year.
In any case, it is about the first half of the sixteenth century.
Ðurðevi Pillars
Ðurðevi Pillars in the old city Ras. Monastery of St. Ðordje is founded by Zupan Stefan
Nemanja, the hill above the capital of Ras. Church, according to the inscription built
1170/71.Year. Fragmentary frescoes have been preserved, while a part of the frescoes
transferred to the National Museum in Belgrade. Of all Nemanja's Endowment, only in
this church preserved frescoes.
Lejlek Mosque
The real name of the Lejlek mosque, which though preserved only in documents, is
“Ahmed-beg”. That is to say that the mosque was built by a certain Ahmed-beg. There
is a tradition in which the Sultan Mehmed Fatih, in his quest to Bosnia 1459th was
praying in Lejlek mosque in Novi Pazar. Turkish census XVI and XVII century mention
Ahmed-beg mosque in Novi Pazar and the same name Mahala. Lejlek mosque is like
many other Novi Pazar mosque repeatedly demolished and burned. In 1981st was
renewed by Salih Begovic.

The Monastery Sopoæani
The Monastery Sopoæani is close to the old city of Ras. Foundation of King Uros I.
Frescoes of the church of the Holy Trinity in Sopocani is one of the most impressive
ensembles-fresco in the Byzantine painting. Sopocani frescoes were created in the
second half of the thirteenth century. The monument is in the whole Old Ras with
Sopocani, added to the List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage 1979th year.
Amir-agin Han
Amir-agin Han (hostel) from the seventeenth century. It is located in the city center,
where it is assumed that in the fifteenth century became the first rudiments of Novi
Pazar. In Serbia, this is the oldest preserved and most beautiful monument of this kind.

The church of ST. PETER
Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, or Peter's Church near Novi Pazar is the oldest
monument of ecclesiastical architecture in the territory of Serbia. The church is located 2
km north of the center of Novi Pazar, and the now well-known written sources comes
from the eighth century, but probably older. Church itself has the rotunda inscribed with
cetvrorolistom and comes from the Byzantine era, while the frescoes in its interior come
in X, XII and XIII century. In its place there was an early Christian building which was built
in the VII century. Some of the most important events from the period of the reign of the
dynasty Nemanjica related to this church.

Hamam
According to chroniclers Becir Hodzic - Šecerovicu, Ottoman army went down to the
valley of the river Raska on 5th July 1389th years, the estuary Jo sanica. In the fifteenth
century, on the place where the army had been camped was built Gazi Isabeg Hamam. In
Hamam was a great school they attended Christian children. School was burned 1689th
year, in the Austro-Turkish war. The founder of Novi Pazar Hamam was built next to the
mosque each year by the 5th July as a day of founding of the city, which was abolished
1908th , when it was changed in the 12th July by order of the Porte.

The old city of Ras
Ras is the most famous medieval fortress in Serbia in which the medieval Serbian named
Raska. The term was later used as the equivalent term for Serbia and Serb (Rašanin), and
