– Presenting a new level in snow removal efficiency
The VAMMAS 3-in-1 PSB-high speed concept has
been proven for years both in Europe and North
America. All PSB units are manufactured to the
highest standards of quality and reliability. The PSB
concept is for airports where speed and efficient
snow removal are most important – both for the
airports and for their customers.
The superbly engineered VAMMAS PSB takes
multitasking to a new level, combining the efficiency
of a snow plow, sweeper and air-jet blower all in one
unit. The PSB unit is designed to give the operator
maximum visibility with the unique VAMMAS cab.
The machine is short, but still long enough to have
the broom parallel to the frame in transport position
making it easy to drive to the garage or service
area.
VAMMAS PSB unit has both wheel and articulated
steering, so it can turn around easily on taxiways
and runways. The articulated frame steering also
maintains optimally the same path for the plow,
sweeper and air blower.

The wide PSB unit offers substantial savings in
capital and labor resources for airport operators by
dramatically reducing the need for large fleets of
narrow or single function vehicles. Several airports
using VAMMAS PSB units have 3 000 m (10.000 ft)
runways that are cleaned to bare pavement in less
than 10 minutes.

VAMMAS SB 3600, SB 4500 and SB 5500
VAMMAS tow-behind sweepers are built to operate
at speed up to 60 km/h thanks to the use of onhighway truck components and unique design of
the broom assembly. Operators only require short
training since they are already familiar with driving a
standard truck. Trucks can be used for other tasks
in and out of season.

VAMMAS SB series tow-behind sweepers have
been used in high speed snow removal in all sizes
of commercial and military airports. The units are
manufactured to the highest standards of quality,

VAMMAS SB series units share the same design
principles and standard components as other
VAMMAS units. The units are fast to couple to the
fifth wheel or drawbar coupling of the towing truck.

Tow truck specifications
Any make of truck can be used or Fortbrand
Services Inc. can supply the truck including the
plow hydraulics and additional features required.
Vammas SB-units can be towed by a 2 axle
4x2, 4x4 truck, or a rear tandem 6x4 truck. The
recommended minimum truck front axle capacity is
9 tons and total weight 18 tons.

Large diameter broom
Vammas has the large broom available for PSB5500 and SB5500 units. The broom assembly is
revolutionary producing the best sweeping results due to its dense broom coverage, accurate broom
pattern control, eliminating the broom bouncing due to broom suspension as well as being simple in design
for reliability. The broom is available as a wafer or cassette version. Maximum broom diameter 1170mm.
Cassette broom has 30 rows.

Compact Sweeper Blower
VAMMAS CSB 3600
The VAMMAS CSB 3600 Compact Sweeper Blower is designed for usage on aprons, taxiways and
runways.
The CSB 3600 is built on the adapted accordingly MERCEDES - BENZ ACTROS 2032 A 4x4 chassis.
Roller brush is placed between the axles of the vehicle, while the turbine (fan) cleaning the surface is built
behind the rear axle. At the front of the vehicle is mounted snow plough LPC 5.
The unit is working very precisely, brush speed change as well as the hydraulic ground pressure control
allows for quick and efficient work. Due to the short length and rear torsion axle, which may be directed
opposite to the front axle, or in the same direction as the front axle, this unit is highly manoeuvrable.
CSB3600 has the ability to work simultaneously plough, brush and a blower. It is also possible individual
work of those elements. This allows the unit can also be used for summer cleaning. Changing the direction
of cleaning is very quick and simple, one move of the joystick on the control panel to change the direction
of the plough, brush, and the air outlet.

CSB 3600 Sweeper Blower
Engine room
In the rear part of the superstructure, there is a engine
room of the sweeper. All control and drive systems
like solenoid valve blocks, electrical system, hydraulic
system, hydraulic oil tank are placed in the engine
room. When the cover is rised, the engine room is free
accesable for service and maintenance works.
Broom
It is located between the axles of the truck. Its
attachment to the chassis frame to obtain exact
constant brush pattern. The broom-pattern is adjusted
hydraulically to provide optimum broom wear life.
Rotation speed is adjusted automatically according
to the driving speed and the broom’s wear. The
hydraulic ground pressure and rotation speed of the
brush can be also overdriven by manual settings.
Brush in the raised position is located at a height of
about 15 cm above the ground. The broom-axle for
the standard model is delivered with 21 cassette and
support legs.
Blower
The blower is located at the rear end of the vehicle.
The blower fan is hydraulically driven. Blower inlet is
screened to prevent the entry of foreign objects and
damage the fan blades. On the left and right sides of
the device are tunnels through which the air comes
out and cleans surfaces. Tunnels are lifting and
lowering automatically, depending on the cleaning
brush direction.

VAMMAS PS-plow - unique mechanized method for
cleaning airport edge lights
The VAMMAS PS edge light plow with sweepers is
designed to be an efficient heavy duty V-plow, but it also
has a unique concept to clean the edge lights. Vammas
PS 4200 plow has two sets of brushes, one for cleaning
edge lights and the other, vertical one for airport sign
cleaning. The vertical brushes can be moved in or out
hydraulically.
The plow can be mounted to a wheel loader, a
tractor or a high clearance farming tractor with quick
attachment. The only connections needed are one set
of hydraulic ports and electric voltage from the base
vehicle. During the cleaning, the operator opens the
front cone of the plow in front of the edge light, and the
sweeping brushes start to rotate. Simple.
Low investment for efficient, fast cleaning and satisfied
personnel
Edge lights can be cleaned immediately after the snow
event with minimal labor force, since a manual
cleaning is history. The plow can be fitted with various
types of cutting edges; plastic, steel net or solid steel.
The small snow bank is normally cast away by a snow
blower – which can use the same carrier.

with self adjusting moldboard curvature
Fortbrand Services Inc. has full line of airport plows
to match Vammas sweeper widths. The plows have
low friction polyethylene plastic blade with adjustable
curvature for more controlled windrow.
VAMMAS P-series plows have segmented cutting
edge elements to maintain the maximum contact on
the surface even if one segment hits an obstacle. The
moldboard radius and height is self adjusting to better
match the snow conditions, operating speed and to
control the shape of windrow.
