BOOKS FOR CHILDREN
& YOUNG ADULTS
Cyls Editores . 2014
WHO ARE WE
Cyls Editores came about as the result of countless
meetings and proposals from a group of entrepreneurs
who were determined to create information books that are
«different», capable of bringing kids closer to knowledge
and critical thinking. Cyls Editores is an independent
publishing house committed to educate passionate
new readers through a number of books intended for
discovering the world around us.
That is why our collections cover relevant topics discussed
at length, ranging from creative writing, thinking, science
and arts to universal values, feelings and emotions that
shape us as human beings.
Cyls Editores . 2014
OUR BOOK COLLECTIONS
KEY Collection
The topics within this collection are not dealt in keeping with common
standards for informative books. We are not content with providing
a number of references and facts. This has already been done.
Our primary goal is to encourage reflection and critical thinking
in young readers, and to trigger off their innate curiosity so that we
can bring them closer to knowledge.
Its name KEY reflects both the focus on critical issues to humankind
and, thus, crucial to the expansion of knowledge; and the way they
are dealt with, taking into account different yet fundamental viewpoints
which arouse the reader’s curiosity for more, and create interest in new
cultural experiences.
All of the titles in this collection are intended to be used from Grade
4 onwards; the latter being for guidance only.
The KEY collection is made up of four series, all of them based on
today’s complex affairs and thinking of tomorrow’s world; they are:
Photon, Habit, Person, High-flier.

Sub-category. Science
SYNOPSIS
This book does not only look over the most interesting
aspects of Albert Einstein’s life: how he overcame
hurdles, his childhood, and so forth. It also attempts
to explain to children the theory of relativity with examples that are familiar to them
as well as easy to understand.
PHOTON
Series
This series provides
an overview of
ground-breaking,
revolutionary scientific
and technological
notions; discoveries,
inventions and
scientists that have
brought about a
turnaround in the
history of humankind,
and their connection
with daily life.
It starts off by providing a chronological context that situates the scientist within
his epoch, and describes other events that took place during the early decades
of the 20th century, the era in which Einstein lived.
The book has been conceived for children of 9 years of age and older; nevertheless,
it has different levels of reading, making it suitable for younger kids who show an
interest in science.

SYNOPSIS
At present, we all are part of many networks that,
like cobwebs, connect us with their strands, almost
always invisible. It doesn’t matter where you are, at
home, at school or in your vehicle, you just need to open a faucet, turn a key,
or simply push a button to become part of a huge hyperlinked web.

that people are oftentimes forced to leave their
places of origin and establish themselves in other countries, seeking a higher
living standard or fleeing from war and persecution. Why does this happen?
What are the causes of it?
Such exchange and interweaving of customs and languages enrich recipient

of inclusion, as well as raising awareness of the reasons why we are sometimes
forced to migrate.

So Alike, So Different
Author. Boris Muñoz
Illustrated by. Iván Estrada
Graphic Design. Elena Terife, Natalie Flores
Category. Informative, Literature
Sub-category. Social Sciences, Cultures, Values
SYNOPSIS
What is tolerance? And intolerance? This book
presents all those arguments that have sustained
such behaviors throughout history, and deals in a
sensitive, creative way with issues such as race, sex, religious and ethnic
discrimination, as well as related topics including terrorism and totalitarianism.
PERSON
Series
We tackle subjects that
touch highly sensitive
cords for all human
beings, such as emotions, feelings, values,
and prejudices. Their
reading should lead to
essential questions:
Who are we? What are
our values? What is life?
What are those things
that thrill us, worry us,
and define us?
A topic that today is more relevant than ever: accepting differences.
We recommend it to stimulate critical reading among youngsters. It is an ideal
starting point in the study of social sciences by way of an issue which children
come across on a daily basis in their classrooms, their relationships with peers,
and the news in newspapers and TV.

OUR BOOK COLLECTIONS
WHOSE-IS-WHAT Collection
Aimed at children in an early stage of primary education, and keeping
in line with our informative titles, we present a collection where the
main theme revolves around animals, an interactive reading calling for
the child’s attention. The information stems from questions and hints,
up to
leading the reader to anticipate the answers provided in the books.
5/6
years
Although animals are the core theme, intertextuality is one of the
old
peculiarities of these books. With a bold design and stunning illustrations,
they give the opportunity to learn about the animal world in an
interesting, amusing way, and make it easy to associate the different
features among species: how they feed themselves, how they reproduce,
where they live. Detailed information supplemented by a glossary
of terms that are most likely new to readers.
Recommended from Grade 2/3 onward.
