A Partnership for our Kids
C
ardinal Bank welcomes friends, players and special guests to the
2012 Cardinal Bank Charity Classic. We are delighted that you
are supporting the 10th Anniversary of this fundraising event. In our
decade of community outreach, we have had the opportunity to witness
first-hand its growth and success in helping our communities. With
heartfelt appreciation, we thank William A. “Bill” and Eleanor Hazel, for
serving as our Honorary Chairs for this special anniversary. The Hazels’
commitment to furthering the Kellar legacy helped create this effort - they
were our Founding Sponsors when we established the Cardinal Classic a
decade ago, and their support has never waned. We are honored by their
philanthropic leadership, and proud to call them friends.
Cardinal Bank’s commitment to our communities remains as strong as
ever, through our ongoing support of and partnerships with organizations
throughout the area. We are proud to report that we have raised more
than $2.5 million since our inaugural event in 2002, to support not only
our continued partnership with Inova Kellar Center, but our expanded
outreach efforts through the Cardinal Bank Community Fund. The
Cardinal Bank Community Fund, launched in 2008, provides vital
funding for a variety of organizations, programs and local initiatives
across the Greater Washington region. Your continued generosity makes
this support possible.
It takes a vibrant community to create an outstanding event like the
Cardinal Classic, and this year we’ve challenged ourselves to make the
10th Anniversary event the biggest and best yet. We are truly grateful
to the more than 1,000 business partners and community members
who have made today’s events possible. When you combine generous
sponsors, enthusiastic players and spirited volunteers with gracious
benefactors, you surely find yourself having nothing less than a magical
day. We thank you for your overwhelming generosity with your time and
talents!
It is an honor to participate in an event that has such a positive and farreaching impact on families and children across our region. We truly are
helping to create brighter futures for those in need. To every community
champion who has joined us for the 2012 Cardinal Classic, and to the
countless others who have contributed in some other way, we thank you!
Enjoy your day!

A Legacy of Charitable Commitment
F
or the past twenty-one years, support from
Art and Betty Kellar and the Kellar Family
Foundation has ensured that families receive the
highest quality of mental health and substance
abuse treatment possible to address their
individual needs. Their generous gifts and vision
created dynamic and unprecedented clinical
services and programs. Since 1991, Inova Kellar
Center has provided a safety net for the community
by offering a continuum of outpatient services for
children and families living in the Northern Virginia Region.
Art and Betty were living examples of the importance of philanthropy,
community and keeping families together. More than visionaries,
their commitment to improving the health and welfare of all children
has been an inspiration to the thousands of families impacted by the
generosity of the Kellar Family Foundation.
Today, that same commitment to children and their families prevails
under the leadership of their daughters’ and the Kellar Family
Foundation. Their support continues to assist families in gaining access
to needed treatment regardless of their ability to pay. Last October,
at the annual Inova Health System Gala, Art & Betty’s legacy was
acknowledged and celebrated when they were announced the recipients
of the 2011 Innovative Excellence Award (Posthumous Award).
It is selfless partnerships such as this that ensures Inova Kellar Center
will continue to provide programs and services to help meet the needs
and challenges that lie ahead, and care for children and families in a
respectable, loving and meaningful way.

The Kellar Cup
The Kellar Cup
Arthur and Elizabeth Kellar Memorial Fund
T
he Kellar Cup was established in
2004 by dear friends and prominent
members of our community as a tribute
and lasting symbol of the Kellar Family’s
ongoing legacy of charitable commitment.
Most importantly, the financial support
for this fund makes it possible for Inova
Kellar Center to provide mental health
and substance abuse treatment and
services to children and their families
regardless of their ability to pay.
This fund has opened many new doors
for our patients, students and their
families. The flexibility of this fund,
which supports basic needs such as food,
transportation, medication, clothing and treatment, allows staff to help
families in creative ways by decreasing barriers to treatment. Last year,
the Center provided almost $200,000 in scholarship funding to children
and families in need.
The Kellar Cup is recognized as the symbol of philanthropic excellence
and a legacy of charitable commitment started by Art and Betty Kellar.
The trophy, which is inscribed annually with the names of the winners of
the Cardinal Bank Charity Classic, will endure for generations to come
and is showcased in the lobby of Inova Kellar Center.
Special thanks to Susan and Woody Allen, Co-Chairs of the Kellar Cup,
for their fundraising efforts. Their continued leadership has maintained
the trust that we will continue Art and Betty’s work by raising funds in
support of those who need it most. We wish to thank the many devoted
friends and community members who have contributed to this very
special program. Everyone at Inova Kellar Center sincerely appreciates
your continued generosity and compassion in helping children and
their families in need.

ill and Eleanor Hazel are exemplary
philanthropic leaders and community
advocates. Long a guiding force behind
fundraising for organizations that
strengthen families and communities,
the Hazels were Founding Sponsors
of the Cardinal Classic more than a
decade ago. Hazel, a US Army veteran
and longtime supporter of Northern
Virginia’s
economic
development,
founded his site development company
nearly a half century ago.
Question: It has been almost five years since your retirement, do you miss
being at the helm of William A. Hazel, Inc.? What is keeping you busy
these days?
Answer: My physical therapy takes a lot of my time and energy. But it
also keeps me positive as I try to make progress. The therapy staff is
excellent and keeps me motivated. The farm has always been a labor of
love for me. Eleanor and I raised our family on this farm and living here
is our life. But the farm takes a lot of hard work and maintenance. It is
spring so I am working closely with the farm manager to get ready for
planting. Friends, business associates, and family are always stopping
by to say hello and check in on us. Every day, we look forward to our
visitors. Yet, it is also good to get out of the house and go to the office to
check on employees that I have known for so long.
Question: Many are struggling in today’s economy; you started your
business over 45 years ago, what advice do you have for entrepreneurs
and business owners today?
Answer: My advice is the same for everyone in business: Stick to your
business and your business goals. Work hard, save money, and treat
people fairly.
Question: Art and Betty Kellar were good friends to both you and Eleanor,
can you share a memory about the Kellars?
Answer: The Kellars were always the same, welcoming anyone into their
home or whatever they were doing. They were like this all their lives. Art
was interested in people and he encouraged those around him in Fairfax
to buy stock in his radio station, knowing that it would turn out well for
them. He served in the military and then started in the radio business as
a deejay when he was young. When he was starting off, he worked in a
small radio station in West Virginia. While entertaining at the state fair
one year, two girls became enamored with him and the music he was

B
playing. These ladies turned out to be Betty (the future Mrs. Kellar) and
her sister!
Question: Ten years ago, you joined the Kellar Family, Cardinal Bank and
many other generous sponsors to host the 1st Cardinal Classic to benefit
Inova Kellar Center. How has your involvement with Inova Kellar Center
made a difference in your own life?
Answer: My interest in the Kellar Center has not made much of a
difference in my life. But, I see what it is doing to change the lives of
those who use the center. The mission of the Kellar Center is important
to Northern Virginia and the community it serves.
Question: You have raised your own family and now have grandchildren
and great-grandchildren, what is a core Hazel family value that both you
and Eleanor seek to impart to new generations of Hazels?
Answer: I tell my family to follow the Golden Rule, to do unto others
as you would have others do unto you. Work hard and treat people
fairly. And be a good neighbor. Keep expanding your horizons through
studying or reading.

Chris Gordon joined News4 in 1998. He has covered
many high profile stories including the trials of
Zacarias Moussaoui, convicted of conspiracy in the
9/11 attack on America, John Allan Muhammad
sentenced to death in the sniper shootings that
terrorized the Washington region, the court
challenges to the 2000 presidential election. Chris
was the only member of the media to both cover the
trial and execution of Mir Amal Kasi, the man who
shot innocent motorists outside CIA headquarters
in Langley, Virginia.
Inova Kellar Center
Building on Excellence
“It is a pleasure working with families that entrust their children to us.”
- Sonia Thomas M.D. Board Certified Pediatric and General Psychiatrist
“I work with a young child whose mother recently lost her insurance benefits. The
child had just completed the initial psychological evaluation, began medication and
therapy services and was starting to show improvement. Thanks to the Kellar Cup
Fund support from the Cardinal Bank Charity Classic treatment could continue.
Inova Kellar fills a significant gap in therapy services for children, adolescents and
families. I hope folks know their donations have a significant and immediate impact
for the children and families we serve, and I thank them all!”
- Tara Cordle: Outpatient Therapist, Inova Kellar Center
“This year, the Kellar Center has continued to experience rapid growth in both
number of families served and types of services provided. We are very excited
about expansions in our outpatient clinic, to include additional staff members and
increased breadth of services in Child Psychiatry, Psychological Services, and In Home
Services. We continue to offer excellent care in our Intensive Outpatient Programs
for Mental Health and Substance Abuse as well as in our JCAHO accredited Partial
Hospitalization Program. In all areas of service at the Kellar Center, each family
receives an individualized approach in order to meet specific needs. And although
families come to Inova Kellar Center seeking help for difficult problems and
circumstances, we always find a way to tackle these issues with kindness, sensitivity,
and a sense of humor.”
- Tara N Tozzi PsyD: Licensed Clinical Psychologist
“Each year the Cardinal Bank Charity Classic provides the opportunity for Inova
Kellar Center to share its mission with the community it serves. We provide vital
clinical and educational services that would not be possible without the generous
support of donors. This golf and tennis tournament is one of the most important
awareness-raising and fundraising events of the year that directly impacts our ability
to provide excellent care to our students, clients, and patients.”
- Amy Hartswick, Principal, The Kellar School
“Our son entered Inova Kellar Center, isolated, cynical, damaged and afraid. The
caring skilled staff offered him a level of acceptance, strength and involvement that
drew him into the processes (despite his initial resistance!).”
- Parent: Intensive Substance Abuse Program
“This is what the holiday season is truly about… helping those in need experience a
holiday to remember. At Inova Kellar Center, we help families stay together.”
- Inova Kellar Staff member
“Many families are struggling financially and/or are without adequate healthcare
insurance. It is selfless partnerships such as that between Cardinal Bank and Inova
Kellar Center that will enable our community to ensure that our children and
families in need will be cared for in a respectable, meaningful way.”

Celebrating 10 years of the Cardinal Classic
& Inova Kellar Center’s 20th Anniversary
The vision of Inova Kellar Center started with Art and Betty Kellar,
however the determination to make it a reality was accomplished with
the help of many “Champions”. Along with Inova, members of the
community, friends from the Country Club of Fairfax, business partners
and caring individuals rallied together and created the Cardinal Bank
Charity Classic. Under the leadership of Cardinal Bank CEO Bernard
Clineburg and President F. Kevin Reynolds, this annual event reached the
$1 million mark in 2006. With this funding and a very successful Capital
Campaign (2002-2008) Inova Kellar Center moved into their new home
on Waples Mill Road, Fairfax in 2006.
The commitment and generosity of so many has helped Inova Kellar
Center and the Cardinal Classic reach these significant milestones. We
would like to recognize those individuals that joined us at the 1st Annual
Cardinal Classic and ten years later, are joining us once again. A special
thank you to all of the Cardinal Classic “Champions” 2002-2012:

permitted unless specifically indicated on the bid description sheet.
Everything will be sold “as is”. Please read the specifications and restrictions
carefully.
2. Please note that all auction items may have restricted use or other
qualifications that may affect value, application or use to the bidder. All
trips are subject to availability and require advance reservations. Not all
restaurants include tax, alcoholic beverages and gratuities. Transportation,
tax, gratuity and all other costs not specified in description of item will be
borne by the bidder.
3. Unless otherwise specified, dates and times are to be arranged by the
donor and buyer for their mutual convenience, and all auction services are to
be used within one year from the event date, May 16, 2011, unless specified
otherwise. There will be no extensions.
4. All items must be removed on the day of the auction. Delivery will be
arranged for those bidders no longer in attendance.
5. All contributions more than fair market value are tax deductible to
the extent allowed by law. Your personal tax advisor can determine the
deductibility of individual items.
6. Each bid sheet lists the minimum acceptable opening bid and the
minimum raise required to change a bid. A person desiring to bid does so by
name, phone number and the amount of the bid.
7. No bid, once made, can be withdrawn unless superseded by a higher bid.
8. Each new bid is printed on the next available blank line on the bid sheet
and must exceed the previous bid. Bids will be disqualified if the required
minimum raise is not met.
9. In the event of a dispute, an Inova Health System auction official will
determine the winning bidder and this decision will be final.
10. Hotly contested items and packages may be selected for a “Mini Live
Auction” runoff in the Ballroom after the Awards Ceremony.
11. When an item is not on display, the buyer will receive a gift certificate,
letter or ticket for the promised item or service. All pertinent information will
be included as provided by the donor.
12. The highest valid bid at the closing time constitutes the successful bid.
The evening Auction will close at approximately 7:45 p.m.
13. Payment is required prior to the conclusion of the auction. We accept
cash, personal checks made payable to Inova Health System Foundation,
MasterCard, AMEX and VISA.

value of the article being offered, he may reject the bid and withdraw the
article for sale.
3. Once a bidder is acknowledged by the Auctioneer to be the winner, title
to the item will pass to the winner, who thereupon assumes full risk and
responsibility for the item. There will be no refunds.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to announce the conditions of sale at
any time.
5. Unless otherwise specified, dates and times are to be arranged by the
donor and buyer for their mutual convenience, and all auction services are
to be used within one year of the auction date. There will be no extensions.
6. Payment is required prior to the conclusion of the auction. We accept
cash, personal checks made payable to Inova Health System Foundation,
MasterCard, AMEX and VISA.
