Make A Difference Day
Saturday, October 24, 2015
Has your chapter begun making plans to participate in Make
A Difference Day, the largest national day of community
service? It isn’t too late. Start making plans today!
Royal Neighbors’ vision is to protect women financially
and empower them to improve their lives, families, and
communities. All adult and youth chapters are invited to
support our vision and Make A Difference by creating Baskets
of Hope to help women across the nation move forward
toward a better life.
Criteria
•
Carry out a portion of the project on Saturday,
Oct. 24, 2015.
•
Complete the Make A Difference Day Report by
Nov. 6, 2015. To access the online report visit
http://www.royalneighbors.org/chapter-login.
Photos
•
We need action photos that tell a story about your project and reflect volunteers having fun participating.
Please email clear, digital photos to your Member
Engagement Specialist by the Nov. 6 reporting deadline.
•
The chapter submitting the best action/most creative photo by Nov. 6 will receive special recognition.
Tips and guidelines:
•
Identify service organizations that provide assistance
to women.
•
Reach out to these women’s organization(s) and request their “wish list.”
•
Determine the organization(s) you would like to help.
•
Determine the items your chapter wants to collect
and/or purchase (you may use chapter funds) to fill your
baskets. Use the fliers included in the Baskets of Hope
Chapter Activity Kit to help promote your chapter’s
collection drive efforts. Contact your Member Engagement Specialist for a kit.
•
All chapters are encouraged to donate a minimum of
20 baskets to women or organizations that serve
women. Baskets may be filled with educational
materials, clothing, personal care products, inspirational
books, household supplies, or other items that will help
women improve their lives. The chapter donating the
most baskets will receive special recognition.
•
Make plans to carry out all or part of your project on
Saturday, Oct. 24.
•Visit www.royalneighbors.org/MakeADifferenceDay
for basket theme ideas and additional details.
•
Work with your Member Engagement Specialist to
promote your project on your chapter’s official Face
Book page.
Remember, participation in a 2015 Make A Difference Day project is
one of the criteria for qualifying for the 2016 chapter leadership trip!

Chapter 20075 Likes to Fundraise!
The city of Mesa, AZ, might be the third-largest city in the state, but members of
Chapter 20075 are working on being #1 in the area of fund-raising for local causes!
Here are some of the fund-raising events the small but enthusiastic group has
hosted in 2015:
• Sold breakfast burritos for Pappas Kids
• Held an ice cream social to benefit a scholarship fund for a deceased member’s son
• Sponsored a potato bar for My Hope Bag, a cancer awareness organization
• Sold root beer floats to raise chapter funds
• Held a walking taco lunch to purchase school supplies for Pappas Kids’
Schoolhouse Foundation
Members also have worked for the Child Crisis Center; held a women’s clothing drive
for a local domestic abuse shelter; given time to Feed My Starving Children; collected
donations for the Phoenix Rescue Mission’s Heat Relief Drive for women and children;
and attended a Royal Neighbors Roadshow to learn the new online reporting tool.
The chapter is led by Lauren Shaw, president; Jeff Hugus, secretary-treasurer; and
Mike Torrenti, event planner.
