Nov/Dec, 2008
The Arabian Horse Association National Convention is Coming to Denver!!!
If you have wondered how your national organization works, now is the chance to find out.
The AHA National Convention is going to be held November 19th through the 23rd at the Denver Marriott Tech Center.
You are welcome to come and share the excitement. You may not be a delegate, but you can sign up as a guest and
sit in on the general sessions and learn how we look at the resolutions presented each year.
There are daily sessions, both working and general, lots of cool vendors for Christmas shopping, and the leaders of the
Arabian industry to visit. Come hear Brooke Varney, of the Arabian Horse Foundation speak on the challenge of developing a National Large Animal Rescue Corp. She will be working with small groups interested in the pilot program she
has developed on the East coast.
The CAHC Southern Division is sponsoring a booth selling arts and crafts and goodies as well as passing out local information on the wonderful breeders, trainers, and horses in Colorado.
The Tech Center area is filled with great places to eat and shop too.
Go to the AHA website and check out the convention site. You’ll be glad you did!
AHA Resolution Meeting—November 9
Every year your CAHC delegates and officers get together to discuss the resolutions for the up coming convention.
The convention is in Denver this year beginning on Wed., Nov. 19th in the evening with a plenary session as an overview of the resolutions. Nov. 20th-Nov. 22nd will be the actual general sessions and committee meetings. Most of the
meetings are open. A tentative schedule is on the AHA website, arabianhorses.org. The Region 8 meeting will be
Thursday evening beginning at 7:00 PM. All Region 8 members are encouraged to attend.
The resolutions will be available on the AHA website after the 1st of Oct. There are around 38 this year.
Our resolution discussion meeting will be Sunday, Nov. 9th at 2:00 PM at Pat Thompson's home, 37233 Polo
Run Drive, Elizabeth, CO 80107. If the weather is bad, we will try to reschedule some evening that week. Please
either call Pat (303) 646-6242 or Cynthia Richardson (303) 652-1442 if the weather seems questionable.
2008 Christmas Show
Fun Classes!!! This year at the CAHC Christmas show, the Junior Colorado Arabian Horse Club (JCAHC) will be hosting fun classes as a fundraiser for our club. The entry fee for these classes will be $10 per class. Some of the classes

Great Fun at the ACS Show—September 13
After all the rain that week, the day of the ACS show dawned bright and sunny. We had a great time and missed those
that weren't able to attend. Anne Wegener did a fabulous job as judge. Since the turn out was small, she had time
to give helpful hints to the participants. What a great bonus for those folks and a wonderful learning experience.
A special thanks goes to Christiansen Stables, Robin & Lynn Christiansen, for hosting our show. The indoor arena
proved a necessity due to mud in outdoor arena. This turned out to be a positive as some of the horses had not previously had a chance to ride indoors. The show certainly lived up to the slogan of Friends, Family and Fun. We saw
many new faces that were enjoying their horses for the first time in a show environment.
Thanks to the following volunteers for all their work to make the show a success: Bill & Cynthia Richardson, Jim &
Cindy Gromelski, Liz Wheeler, Pat Thompson, Gary & Gerry Martinez and Joe & Sharon Kissell. Congratulation to
the following for winning the "Just for Entering" grand prizes: A pair of Ariatt Boots to Lisa Heath and A Winter Blanket from Schneiders to Susan Hancock .Don't forget to check out the other ACS shows that are held by the
Loefflers during the winter months. You will have a great time. Look forward to seeing you next year.

Endurance News
The Colorado endurance season is over and it is time to announce the winners of the CAHC year-end endurance
awards. Before I get to that, I would like to explain how the top horse and rider teams are picked. First you must be a
CAHC member before the rides in order for them to be counted. Second, each horse and rider is considered a team
and the miles are counted separately for each team. A rider may ride 4 rides but ride a different horse each ride. That
rider’s miles would be counted separately for each horse and not added together. Third, the miles for each horse and
rider team are added together for each division; limited distance is 25 – 35 miles per ride and endurance is 50 miles
and over. Any ties are broken by comparing the rider’s placements in the different rides. For example, a rider with 100
miles and 1st and 5th placements would win over a rider with 100 miles and 10th and 15th placements. I believe that
covers the basics so on to the important part.
And the winners are:
Limited Distance
Champion: Mercedes Muldoon on TL Thunder Bask, 100 miles
Reserve: Linda Fisher on Kenlyn Muscatella, 75 miles
3rd place: Marlene Moss on FF Maya, 50 miles
Endurance
Champion: Linda Price on Kenlyn Gambler, 150 miles
Reserve: Sue Horne on SDR Asiago, 100 miles (2nd & 1st)
3rd place: Kerry Redendte on Bountiful Prince, 100 miles (5th & 16th)
Looking to the Future
Next year will be a whole new season! If you won an award this season, maybe you
want to ride more miles and beat this year’s total. If you only rode one ride this year,
maybe you want to try for an award next year. Maybe you want to try your hand at limited distance riding which, by the way, is a great way to start. You still get to see some
great country just doing limited distance rides. For those of you that feel you aren’t up to
doing limited distance rides but want to see what it is like, both Kenlyn rides offer a 15
mile fun ride. The fun rides are excellent for show horses, young horses, young riders,
old horses, old riders, and everyone in between. You also receive a completion prize for
the fun rides at Kenlyn! I know the CO Horse Park endurance ride offered a fun ride, also
called an intro ride, this year and the Turkey Creek endurance ride had a fun ride in 2007.
Any of these fun/intro rides would be great and I recommend everyone ride at least a fun
ride next year just to get out and enjoy the scenery.
For upcoming rides, go to www.aerc.org to check out all endurance rides, including those
outside of Colorado.

Happy Trails!

Message from the Newsletter Editor
The newsletter is now available in PDF format from the CAHC website. We will be asking members in the future if they
would prefer to download it from the website, have the newsletter emailed or continue to have a hardcopy mailed. I
have a few that requested the email version. Those people will receive the hardcopy version until a decision is made
on the final delivery method. With the cost of printing and postage, we are trying to lower as many costs as possible.
I continue to try to get organized for getting the newsletter out in a timely manner. I would like to receive articles by the
15th of the month prior to publication. The deadline for the January-February edition will be December 15.
