LARGE CROWD RISKS LIFE AND LIMB!
Our long awaited Membership Show opening was held March 2nd – in one of the few
snow storms this winter season. Despite the hazardous conditions, many brave
souls attended this annual event to be amazed by the display of talent, and to see
our newly renovated Arts Center. There were rave reviews all around.
I encourage all to visit your new Plymouth Arts Center! This project was over eight
years in the making. It truly was a group effort. I can remember the evening
discussions with Pete Ullrich and our finance committee on financial projections, the
concept drawings by Jim Sutton, and Groth Design, the “what if” sessions with Greg
Heberlein, Bill Johnston, Kerry Curtiss and the theater group, Dena Adamson, and
the gallery committee, Kitty Lynn Klich and her art education needs, and the day to
day operating issues faced by Donna and her staff. And we didn’t stop there. Everyone with an interest in
our success was listened to, and all of this input was carefully considered. In other words, we created a plan,
we worked the plan, and now we have the results of the plan. As George Peppard in his A-Team role would
say, “I love it when a plan comes together.”

PERSPECTIVES
The entire community got behind this project, and the community can now share the results.
We paid special recognition to two individuals that evening that went beyond the call to help make this project
a success. They are Lou Gentine, who was our fundraising chair, and Bob Hoopman our project architect.
Both gentlemen worked tirelessly to make our dreams a reality. Each was presented with a special plaque
created and donated by artist Richard Bronk.
I want to personally thank everyone who thought enough about the arts and the community to contribute to
this worthwhile project that will serve us now and far into the future.

ONE OF DOWNTOWN PLYMOUTH’S brightest lights is shining even brighter. One of downtown’s
finest gems, the Plymouth Arts Center, showed off its new polish and luster to the public last Friday, and
the results are dazzling. The former car dealership building has moved even farther away from its utilitarian
past life with an extensive $1.5 expansion and remodeling.
The new building greatly enhances the center’s ability to fulfill its mission to showcase the arts in
Plymouth and provide a community space available for diverse purposes and events. The open house
showed that off well, with the set for the center’s latest theater production, Sister Amnesia’s Country
Western Nunsense Jamboree,” in the great room where the remodeling effort was being celebrated and
refreshments were served.
The new kitchen was utilized to provide the refreshments, with the promise of being able to support
more efficiently—and deliciously—the many community events the center hosts throughout the year.
The members art show filled the new and expanded Gallery 110 North exhibit space, a bright and open
area that can accommodate bigger and better shows. Dedicated classroom spaces with a more intimate
ambiance were ready for eager students to come in and learn new skills or add to existing ones.
Outside, the building’s new façade and entryway welcomed visitors even more warmly than it had in the
past. All of its combines to make a unique, outstanding facility of which few, if any, cities the size of
Plymouth can boast.
Such a vibrant celebration and center of the arts is a real feather in Plymouth’s cap and a real attraction
for those who come to Plymouth, whether to visit or to live. It says so much about this community and the
people who live here that not only do we support such an unparalleled facility, but we have stepped up to
support its growth and expansion.
Whether its’ the countless individual members and volunteers who make the many events at the center
happen, or the businesses and industries who provide financial support for the center and its activities, we
are all part of a facility that makes us all proud and makes Plymouth a better place.

Dan Smith, Senior Preservation Coordinator for the Kohler
Foundation and Director of the Fine Arts Gallery for the University of
WI-Sheboygan, judged the show and selected nine pieces for special
recognition. Gallery Committee member, Deborah Heberlein
presented the awards. Ann Juneau of Plymouth won Best of Show
for her finger painting, “Peek-A-Moo.” The judges’ comments were:
“Art sometimes tells a story, or evokes a specific emotion. The unique
way the paint was applied to this artwork shows the cow’s strength,
curiosity and friendliness.”

Other award winners were: 1st Place, Patrick Robison; 2nd Place,
Rita Crooks; 3rd Place, Susan Steging Cook. Merit awards went to:
Margy Horneck for “Sienna Leaves,” a watercolor; Carol Nall for
“Primeval Moss,” fiber & beads; Larry Basky for “Ice Flow,” a
serigraph; and Audrey Dulmes for “Walking on County Trunk A,” a
soft pastel. Eileen Urness was presented with the Robert Heuel
Award for “Unexpected,” an acrylic, spray paint, epoxy painting.
Keith Abler has been composing and performing music since 1966. He has performed in various
area groups such as SunBlind Lion, SkyHouse, Les Sax and His Musical Pirates, The Love
Society, Phase Three, KEBO, The Tiki Bar Six and many others over his long musical career. He

has recorded and released nine cd’s of original compositions. He has completed composing a new
album of original songs for a SunBlind Lion reunion tour in 2013. The Arts Center performance promises to be one of
unique and recognizable songs of Love & Satire, Etc. Keith and Friends have performed several concerts in support
of the Plymouth Arts Center and have always supported the Arts Center since their inception in 2001.
Tickets for the show are $25 per person and include a complimentary martini (or a glass of wine) and munchies.
Group sales are available at 10 Tickets for $200. For this fundraising event, $20 of your ticket is tax-deductible, as
the PAC is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization. Visa and Mastercard are accepted. This show is generously
sponsored by Meyer Motors of Plymouth, Kathy and Paul Sartori of Plymouth, Dr. James Nass, D.D.S. of Plymouth,
an Anonymous Art Patron & M & I Bank. During each show, guests will have an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets
for fantastic prizes, such as a guitar donated by Dreams Unlimited, original art work, Plymouth Arts Center Season
Tickets, a special performance by Chester and Mabel (aka Patty and Tim Talen,) gift baskets, and more.

Keith Abler & Friends will be performing at the Plymouth Arts Center on Friday and Saturday April
20th and 21st at 7:30pm to benefit the Building Project Capital Campaign. All funds will go toward
the completion of our renovation. The performers for An Evening with Keith Abler and Friends,
“Songs of Love, Satire, Etc.” include Keith Abler, Bob McManus, Cindy Howley, Larry Baldock,
Amy Schmidt, Tim and Patty Talen, Frank Gatyas and Connor McManus. Don’t miss this great
opportunity for an evening of fantastic music, martinis, and munchies.
We thank pianists, Maddison McKinch, Katherine Leclerc and Katie
Christensen for presenting wonderful musical entertainment for the
reception. Also special thanks to Karen Scheuerman for creating a
the perfect atmosphere for this grand occasion with her lovely decorations and her outstanding buffet of delicious appetizers, desserts, and

Nunsense County Jamboree & Shamrocks & Shenanigans: The after glow of our grand opening evening
continued with back to back performing arts shows in March. We thank the cast and crew of Sister Amnesia’s
Country Western Jamboree, directed by Kerrylynn Kraemer-Curtiss, and “Shamrocks & Shenanigans #7, Irish
Music Show,” directed by Mary Calvey and Louis Luina, for these delightful shows. We welcomed several new
performers to our stage for the first time for these performances. We also thank Bill Johnston-Technical Director,
Don Held, Greg Heberlein, the Kraemer-Curtiss Family, Ken Pannier Photography, and all the ushers and servers.
“Duets for the Arts” Special thanks to the Mill Street Guild and their friends for an outstanding
performance of “Duets for the Arts!” Guild member Emily Timm produced and directed this show
featuring an evening of Broadway duets. It was a fundraiser for the building campaign, with funds
designated for new theatre chairs. The cast included: Kirt Graves; Moe Green; Laurie Dillman;
Kristi Hasenstein; Jamie Jeanty; Haley Kosup-Kennedy; Tricia Lutze; Larry Marcus; Matt
Rickmeier; Keane Schmidt; Trevor Seefeldt; Leopold Shircel and Emily Timm. Mark your calendar
for “Mill Street Live” Fridays this summer beginning June 15; and a “Date Night” special
performance on Thursday, June 14. Look for two additional Broadway shows directed by Trevor!
