Love Bug Stain Test
>
Love bugs were obtained from Dr. Ron Cherry of the University of
Florida
>
400 love bugs were placed on each PPF applied to a 12” X 12” white
panel
>
A PET film was placed on top of the love bugs so that they did not
come in contact with the roll down.
>
A 2 kg roll down was used to mash the bugs underneath the PET film.
Each panel was subjected to 30 applications of the roll down.
>
The panels were placed in a oven at 80 °C for 2 days.
>
After the panels were taken out of the oven
oven, they were first washed
with a spray of lukewarm water.

Measure the L*, a*, b* and gloss values on the
PPF (applied to the white panels) before
application of dirty engine oil
>
Place 5 mL of dirty engine oil on the PPF. Spread
it evenly with a blade or an applicator.
>
Place a PET film over the oil to p
prevent the oil
from flowing over the edges of the panel.
>
Place the panels in an oven at 70 °C
C for 4 hours.
>
After 4 hours, clean the oil with a paper towel
and then a bug and tar cleaner (or kerosene)
>
Measure the L*, a*, b* and gloss values on the
PPF after the oil cleanup
