INTEGRATION TOOLS
Galileo™ Remote Computer Control
To control the Galileo remotely from a computer:
1. Attach the Galileo to the computer’s Ethernet port or to a network router or network
switch.
2. Configure the computer’s network settings.
3. Configure the Galileo’s network settings.
4. Launch and configure the Compass control software.
Attaching the Galileo to Your Computer
The Galileo’s RJ-45 port connects to a standard computer Ethernet port, router, or switcher
with shielded CAT-5e cables. The Ethernet connection allows the unit to be controlled
remotely from a Mac® or Windows® computer running the Compass control software. Bidirectional communication ensures that the current settings, whether changed from the
Galileo front panel or from the Compass software, are always in sync.

Galileo 408 Connected to Computer
NOTE: When connecting the Galileo to a computer through a router, make sure
the router is appropriately configured.
Configuring the Galileo Network Settings and IP Address
The IP address for the Galileo is set to DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) by default.
DHCP allows the Galileo, or multiple Galileos, to be easily attached to a computer with minimal setup. In addition, the Galileo can also be set to a static IP address. When using a static
IP address, the computer (as well as the router, if you are using one) must be set to the same
IP address as the Galileo.
NOTE: The network settings and IP address for the Galileo 616 can be configured from its front panel on the System Settings > Network page. To configure
the network settings and IP address for the Galileo 408, you must use the Compass
control software (see “Configuring the Galileo Network Settings and IP Address” on
page 2). The network settings and IP address for the Galileo 616 can also be configured from the Compass control software.
