The graph is designed to quickly and
acurately measure your nostril opening,
nose to eye and antler location. To measure the nostril opening width simply adjust the transparent graph V nostril
corners so that they match the deer. (Photo
#2) You don’t need calipers or rulers, the
graph does it for you.
Next place the center line of the nose
graph on the center line of the forms built
in nostril crease at your pre-recorded
measurement and pin the graph to the
form. (Photo #3) Then pin prick through the
#5
graph at your nostril corner measurement.
You should now have two pin size holes
perfectly symetric exactly the size of your
deer cape. (Photo #4) You can then trim the
form to the pin prick holes and your cape
will fit perfect without having to test fit.
(Remember, measure twice, cut once). If
your forms nose is to small simply build
up to the measurements.
#6
Simply place the antler burr arrow at
the middle of the antler burr. Rotate the
graph so that the nostril opening line is
in the middle of the nostril opening.
Record where the horizontal letter
measurement intersects with the vertical number measurement. (Photo #6)
Next put a tee pin through the graph
at the pre-recorded eye intersection and
4
#3
The graph also acts as a transparent ruler
to measure the nose to eye. (Photo #5)
Now, the main purpose of the graph is
to measure exactly where the antlers
should be. It is common to measure from
the end of the nose. The problem is that
your form’s nose to eye is not going to be
the same as the actual deer. This linear
measurement does not take into account
the height radius. The main measurements should be from the back corner of
the eye. When I was a production taxidermist, I used the two-to-three finger
technique. While this works, it still
doesn’t take into account the height radius. The graph will give you both horizontal and vertical alignment.
pin the graph to the form at the rear of
the eye.
Pivot the graph so that the nostril
opening line is lined up with the middle
of the nostril opening and pin in place.
You now have the graph held in place
with your hands free to attach the
antlers so they line up with the antler
burr arrow.
It is a nice feeling to know that
everything will fit because you accurately measured. In carpentry there
are rough carpenters which work fast
and trim carpenters which work towards perfection. The graph can help
you get trim carpenter quality in
rough carpenter time.

Nose Cleft
The nose cleft is one of those ideas that looks simple and unassuming but actually does work.
The nose cleft is a straight line indentation centered down the middle of the nose. (Photo #1)
Believe it or not it gives you three advantages over the form you’re using now.
First the line of the graph, lines up with the center line of the form (nose cleft) to help you achieve a
perfect symeterical nose skin fit. (See page 4)
Second it gives perfect symetric alignment of your lower nose skin. Before you tuck your upper lip you
will see a line or cleft in the bottom of your nose skin. This fits or aligns with the form’s nose cleft in the bottom of the nose. You can feel the cleft in the form easily when the cleft in the cape aligns with it. This automatically centers your nose perfectly.
Now after the skin has been aligned and the lip tucked there is one simple little trick you can do to add a
little extra to your mount. Take your lip tucking tool and slightly press it into the nose crease. This will accent
and enhance the nose crease giving the little “V” that the live deer has. (Photo #2)

Measuring Deer For Easy Fit
It is a common technique to measure a tanned cape right behind the ears and order a form based
upon that measurement. A common problem that occurs is that the cape doesn’t fit in the middle
part of the neck. To explain why this happens it is necessary to understand the changes in neck
“shape” not just measurements.
During the summer even huge deer have long skinny necks. By peak rut the big boys look like
their necks are ready to burst, their so swollen looking.
The neck size and shape as the rut goes on increases greater in the “mid-neck” than any other
place. In mid-October he may have the same tight neck measurement as he does at peak rut in
early November. His mid-neck measurement however might increase by up to 4" inches. Revolution is the only company that puts a mark in the middle of the neck and stamps the measurement
into the form at the mid-neck. This measurement, more than the tight neck or atlas, will determine
if the skin will fit.
Of all the taxidermists I have explained this to, there is only “one” who already knew this. Dan
Roberts of Illinois raises deer and takes exact measurements of the deer he skins out. He took in
an “Intimidator” buck that was 33" inches at the mid-neck. Dan knew that his deer would fit the
largest form on the market, our Intimidator which is 33" at mid-neck. It fit like a glove.
When a cape is tanned the tight neck (right behind ears) tends to be larger than the live deer.
This “tricks” the taxidermist to buy a form that is too large, then again the mid-neck won’t fit.
Another thing to keep in mind is the frame size of the deer. A customer of mine shot a deer that
was 3 1/2 years old and weighed 150# pounds and its mid-neck was 26" inches. For that size deer
its neck was swelled to the max. My daughter shot a 5 1/2 year old deer that was past rut, run-down and gaunt with a mid-neck size of 26"
inches. Its neck shape was actually skinny. The catalog measurements don’t indicate the “frame” size of the deer. In other words, the 26" inch
mid-neck deer of a small frame is huge. The 26" inch mid-neck of a large deer frame is small.
There is no easy fail safe ways to measure deer, but hopefully this has helped your understanding. The mid-neck measurement is “a” key
that can really help you.
TAXIDERMY TIP
Dew Lap
If you pull your cape width wise it will pull your brisket up
and shorten your neck length. This will help you fit your cape
better and make your neck look larger. The neck will look larger
because your hair will be “bunched” and not stretched. Your
cape will fit better because the neck increases in circumference
the closer it gets to the shoulder.
The deer we shoot are either carried out or drug by their rear
legs, never their antlers. We then can take carcas casts and measurements of deer that have not been stretched. It may help and
it certainly won’t hurt when salting your capes to stretch them
wide, not long. Then hang them width wise not by their heads
or length wise. If the cape is stretched long you will have trouble
sewing from the middle of the neck to over the shoulders.
Have you ever mounted a deer and
had extra skin on the face hanging all
over? The Dew Lap is designed to
“take up” the extra skin. It also customizes the mount for the hunter
because you can tell him that his particular deer allowed you to add this
feature. To attach simply Dremel a
trench in the form and Bondo the internal gusset to the form. Transition
with clay and your ready to mount.

The 3-n-1 ear butt system is designed for the professional
taxidermist. It is very fast and accurate.
What are the advantages?
1. Your ear butts just “instantly” set in their slots, hands free, a
simple 1" inch screw in each side and they’re set to go.
2. Both sides are symmetric with each other in all axis.
3. The rear of your skull is automatically sculptured in place.
4. The outside shape of your ear butts are sculptured for you. It
will not mash or distort like clay.
5. The inside has enough play or wiggle room for you to adjust
the position of your ears the way you want them. Note: Most
all other ear butts “lock you in” and restrict your flexibility.
6
Use clay on the inside of the ear butt to hold the earliner in place.
You will be surprised how solid the ears are with this system.
6. The ear butts are made of standard taxidermy foam so they can be
easily cut, rasped or sanded. Traditional plastic ear butts don’t
allow this.
7. The 3-n-1 ear butts consist of both right and left ear butts held together in one unit by the back of the head. Thus the name 3-n-1.
8. We have four sizes in ears back positioning. We are expected to
have ears forward by early next year.
9. Photo #12 shows the forms’ built in “ball pivot” indentation for
ball ended earliners.
10.The form easily works with standard ear butt earliners as seen in
Photo #13.

If this is so fast and easy, why is it for
professionals and not beginners?
There are two things to keep in mind when learning this system. The first believe it or not is antler placement. The second is
correctly fitting your ear liner or Bondo ear cartilage to the inside
of the ear butt. Let’s look at antler placement first. The relationship between your eye/antler/ear butt is critical. If you draw a
line from the eye to the antler to the ear butt and then back again
to the eye you will form a triangle. If either the eye antler or ear
butt are placed incorrectly the triangle will be misshapen. In a
normal deer form the eye location is fixed and the antler and ear
placement are determined by the taxidermist.
Typically the taxidermist sets his antlers so that the burr is
two inches from the eye. Then after sewing the cape up they
position the ears by their judgement. A common mistake I’m
sure you’ve noticed is that ears are set to low on the head. If
you use my triangle theory for reference you will automatically
see how important the relationship is between the eye, antler
and ear. Now lets go into detail.
If you place your antler lower on the form than they should be,
say 1/2" and you placed your ears correctly, your ears would “look”
like they’re a 1/2" too high. Or if your antlers were placed a 1/2"
too high your ears would “look” a half inch to low. Again, the relationship of the ear to the antler must be correct.
Now lets look at the Total Concept Form. My form has an
exact placement for the ears. It’s so simple, fast and accurate you
won’t believe it. But, since it is in a fixed location you can’t move
them after you put the cape on. In a typical form you move your
ear to fit your antlers. With the Total Concept Form you place
your antlers to fit your ear. This is why I have invented three aids
to help you place your antlers perfectly. The Auto Antler Set, the
Graph and the Mannikin Antler Gauge. To sum this part up the antlers must be placed correctly!! It’s not hard to do, it
doesn’t take any extra time, it just has to be done right.
Now the second thing you must learn is the joining of the ear
liner or cartilage to the ear butt. Depending on what ear liners
you use you may have to trim some of the inside of our foam ear
butt for fit. We recommend that you position and fit your ears
before you put the skin on. Just take an extra pair of ear liners
and position them the way you want in the butts and place some
clay between the ear liner and the inside of the ear butt. Next,
wiggle the ear out of the butt and you will know that when you
mount the deer the ear will fit in the ear butt and be perfect. If
you use Bondo and leave the cartilage in, you may have to drill
out the inside of the ear butt to create more depth.
The 3-n-1 Ear Butt System is a great way to get excellent quality in a very short period of time. Note: We have four sizes in
ears back positioning and are expected to have ears forward by
early next year.
3-n-1 Ear Butt on Another Form
Can I use the three in one ear butt system on any deer form?
Yes, with a little modification to the back of the antler slot.
First choose the right size ear butts. Next lets do a little demonstration so you can see how good the ear butt system works. Place
the ear butts on the skull so they “sit” the way you want them!
(Photo #1) Hint - a little hot melt glue will temporarily hold them. Remember on the live deer
the ear butts are commonly
tight to the back of the
antler burrs. This is more
true the larger the deer.
Notice that however you
tilt or move the antlers the
ear butts stay perfect in re#1
lation to the antlers.
Trace the ear butts on the skull with a Sharpie. This will act as
an alignment mark when you actually attach them permanently
to the antlers.
Now take the template pattern we provided and trace it on the
antler slot. Cut on the lines with a Sawzall (or similar tool) so that
the blades come out at the bottom of the form’s ear butt. (Photo #2)
Attach your antlers to the form as normal. Next you can simply
attach the ear butts to the antlers with hot melt glue and then to
the form with a screw in each ear. When you mache or clay your
antlers just fill any gap between the ear butts and the form.
Note: The first time
you do this it is going
to take more time than
you want. With a little
practice when you get
your process down
your customers will
be very pleased with
the finished results.

Auto Antler Support

The Auto Antler Set is the fastest and easiest way
there is to set antlers. Brian invented the auto antler
set in 1988 and it was marketed through Rinehart
Taxidermy supply. He called it the “Brain Ridge”.
The artificial brain (Auto Antler Set) supports the
antlers from the inside of the brain cavity not at the
outside rim of the skull plate. No shims are needed
to balance the antlers. The antlers are easily centered
and supported from the inside. The auto antler support really pays for itself (actually it’s free) with
antlers that are cut crooked or ones that are broken
in two pieces. The secret is that the skull plate is cut
so that it doesn’t touch the head block slot when setting on the auto antler support. You can use Bondo,
hot glue or even clay to help hold them “hands free”
before screwing down with four 3" inch screws.

Rear View Auto Antler
We also added a mannikin antler gauge right behind
the eyes. The lines represent 1/4" increments starting
at 3/4" from behind the rear corner of the eye. Before
skinning the deer, record how far back the front of the
antler burr is behind the eye. Simply place the antler
skull on the auto antler support and adjust until the
front of the burr lines up with the pre-recorded measurements on the mannikin antler gauge.
“I at first didn’t want to use the new Auto
Antler Set on the Total Concept System
Forms, then I decided to try it and it works
great, really saves time and saves the cost of
material I normally would use to build up
the antlers.”

Accu-Fast
Eye Set
The Accu-Fast Eye Setting System is designed for
the production taxidermist. I invented the pre-set
eye and believe that Accu-Fast is not only faster but
has numerous advantages over the pre-set eye. The
pre-set eye has one expression - alert. Accu-Fast,
since you do use a small roll of clay allows you to
create your desired expression. The Accu-Fast Eye
System allows you to tuck your eye lids where you
can’t with the pre-set. Pre-set eyes tend to move and
distort in the manufacturing process giving inconsistent results. Accu-Fast Eyes are “post-set” meaning you get flawless consistency.
“After mounting whitetails for over 40 years I have finally found a form
that matches what I see in the wild. Accurate, symmetrical and anatomical are just a few words to describe Revolution’s forms. This deer I
mounted using their Accu-Fast Eye System after watching their DVD
one time. The system saves you time and money as well as giving all your
mounts a consistent look. Not to mention how well the skins fit!”

Lower Eye Lid
The zero clearance eye socket has three distinct features built into the mannikin designed
to save time and to add anatomical quality to
make a better mount.
First, “zero clearance” means the glass eye fits
tight against the front corner of the socket with
virtually no gap. Second if you look at the bottom corner of the eye socket you will see a
sculptured lachrymal caruncle. Third is a primary eye lid crease.
By not having to add any clay to your eye corner you get absolutely no shrinkage, distortion
or mashing of the clay. The lachrymal caruncle
that is built in allows you to add a feature that
your competition doesn’t have plus your deer
will look better. If you look at a live deer from
the front view you will not be able to see the
corner of his eye. Approximately 1/4" from the
eye the lachrymal skin angles in at about 45°.
Now looking at typically mounted deer you will
be able to see the front corner where the skin
touches the glass which is incorrect. If you
wanted to put this feature in your mounts now,
using your present forms and clay it would be extremely difficult. Competition taxidermists will
sculpt this feature in using Sculp-All and let it

up against the caruncle (zero clearance) you will be
amazed at how quickly you can achieve competition
quality on your commercial mounts. We also added
the primary eye lid crease into the upper swell so you
can blend your clay fast and accurately on both eyes.

NOTE: Many of our bear
arms are poured separate and
not cut off. This is advantageous to the taxidermist in two
ways. First they are designed to
pivot very similar to the live
bear. They pivot similar to
“Barbie doll” arms, allowing
you to adjust them easily to
your liking. Re-attachment is
also faster and easier than cut
off arms. The result of the arms
being poured separately is a
stronger more dense foam.
There is plywood (same as a
deer head block) poured into
the body. You can Bondo the
arms and use screws with
washers giving you an adhesive/mechanical bond. If you
tube your arms when you skin
the bear you can pre-attach the
foam arms with screws, back
them out and use the screws
for perfect alignment during
the mounting process.

Instructor, Judge, Breakthrough Columnist
“I just wanted to thank your company for making such a wonderful product. I’ve been learning taxidermy on my own for a couple months now for my third mount, used your “Last
Chance Upright” form with Accu-Fast Eyes. It couldn’t have mounted any easier than this.
Mounting on this form was a dream and made the end result more lifelike than I could have
expected. This was only my third attempt at mounting an animal! I was more than pleased
with the results and I owe a great deal of it to the accuracy of the form and Accu-Fast Eyes.
I’m sure I’ll be using your forms for many of my future projects. Thanks again.
