Starting June 8, you will have a new way to access key information
about your child’s progress in school. With a NYC Schools account,
you will be able to view your child’s attendance, grades, and contact
information in one of ten languages on a computer, phone, or
tablet.
How do I create an account?
You must be your child’s parent or legal guardian and live at the same
address to create an account. If you have more than one child attending a
NYC school, you can create an account for all of them in one visit.
1. Set up an appointment with your child’s school.
2. Bring the following:

3. Receive a temporary password.
When you create the account at your school, you’ll receive a receipt with
your temporary password printed on it.
4. Sign into your account from a computer, phone, or tablet.
Go to http://schools.nyc.gov/myaccount and enter your email address and
temporary password. You will be asked to create a new personal password
for your account.
Additional Help
NYC Schools is available on any internet-ready device,
including tablets and smart phones. If you need access to a
computer, visit your nearest public library.

2015 - 2016 Lunch Forms Submit Online Beginning July 1
Locker Clearout — All Students
Students are reminded to start clearing out their
lockers. By Monday, June 15, you should have removed
all of your belongings as well as your lock. On Tuesday,
June 16 we will start removing locks and disposing of any
locker contents. If you leave your lock behind, you will have
to purchase a new lock in September.
In order to help you promote the use of the online School Meals,
a letter entitled “Apply for Free Lunch Online” will be sent home
June 12 with all returning students in order to help encourage
their families to fill out an online application over the summer so
that students will not need to submit a paper application or form
in September. The online School Meals Application System nyc.
applyforlunch.com will on July 1 open for the 2015–16 school
year. These applications must be completed annually.

For graduating Senior who still have a credit balance on
your mylunchmoney.com account, you may contact DOE
Food Services regarding the refund at 718-349-5783.
Keep in mind that these applications serve not only as the basis
for determining a student’s lunch status (breakfast is free for all
students), but just as importantly for high school students these
applications serve as the basis for determining associated fees
that students must pay in order to take AP and SAT exams, as
well as fees associated with applying to colleges. The application
may also help your child qualify for certain needs based awards
and scholarships available from the government as well as those
available through the school as well as through other public and
private organizations.
Although paper applications will still be available in September,
applying online over the summer will also help to reduce the
number of paper applications or forms the school will need to
collect for the 2015–16 school year which will help us meet our
goal of at least 90%. It will also allow the NYCDOE to process
these applications earlier and will enable eligible students
to receive their free or reduced price meal benefits as soon as
possible.

Regents Attendance
Not showing up to take your scheduled Regents exam will result
in an ABS on your transcript. This mark will not be removed and
may affect college admission. Please speak with your guidance
counselor if you have a question or concern.
Regents Day Procedures

Bring your Regents invitation with you.
•
First go to your locker to store items including cell phones.
•
If you arrive before the official reporting time, wait in the
5th-Floor Cafeteria.
•
At reporting time, you should leave the 5th-Floor Cafeteria
and report to your testing room.
Regents Invitations
Students who are registered for the Regents will receive final
Regents exam invitations on Tuesday, June 9, during period 3.
Any student wishing to change Regents registration must see
a Guidance Counselor as soon as possible. If you know you
missed or failed a Regents Examination, please check with your
Guidance Counselor to make sure your are registered for the
make-up.
Regents Registration
Any student who is not in a Regents terminating class but does
need to take the Regents should see a Guidance Counselor to
register. Any student who does not register cannot take the
exam.
Extra Time on Regents Examinations
Any student who receives extra time on Regents examinations
and is scheduled to take two Regents on a single day may ask
Ms. van Keulen about postponing one Regents examination
until August. (Not all Regents exams are offered in August.)

Attend any Regents Examination for which you received an
invitation. Otherwise, an ABS mark will appear on your transcript.
No cell phones or other electronic devices are allowed in the
testing room.

Submitting Grades
through Skedula
All second marking period grades will be submitted
through PADS on Skedula. Grades are due at 8:30 AM on
Thursday, June 11. PADS will then be closed for a few
hours for grade processing. Revisions are due at 8:30 AM. on
Monday, June 15. Teachers seeking support should see Mr.
Moore in Room 201 during period 3, 5, 6, 7, or 8.
Acceptable Grades
• Passing: 65-100 in increments of 1
• Failing: 55-59 in increments of 1
• No Show: 45
If you are unsure about what grade to give a student, please
speak with the student’s Guidance Counselor.
Skedula Grade Submission Instructions
1. Go to skedula.com. Log in using your DOE user name and
your password.
2. On the bottom-left side, click on “Portals.”
3. Click on “PADS.”
4. Click on “Click here to enter HSST grades.”
5. Click on “Click here to enter MP 2 grades.”
6. Enter grades and comments.
They will be saved
automatically.
7. Click on “Logout” in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Submitting Revised Grades
After grades are received and processed in Skedula, PADS will be
reopened until 8:30 AM on Friday, June 12. Review the Subject
Class List with Grades that will be placed in your mailbox by the
end of the day on Thursday. If you would like to submit a grade
change before the revision deadline, enter Skedula again, and
change grades as necessary.

Due to security restrictions, students will not be allowed access to the building
during regents week to go to classrooms including studio rooms or the art gallery,
gym, lockers, or any other areas of the building during unless they have an exam
scheduled for the date and time indicated or they are a graduating senior
attending graduation rehearsal.
Unfortunately students will not be able to meet with teachers, guidance
counselors or other staff members until returning on the last day of school. They
can, however contact staff by e-mail or phone in order to speak with them or make
arrangements to meet with them in the main lobby. There will also be boxes
located at the main entrance for students to drop off books and other assignments
as necessary.
As such, if you are scheduled to take an exam, we ask that you bring, amongst the
other items needed for your exam, your student ID and your regents invitation in
order to speed up the entrance process. Without the invitation, someone will have
to look your name up on an exam list which may delay your entry to the exam. If
you lose your regents invitation before the last day of classes, please go to room
201 to request an additional copy. Signs with room assignments will also be posted
in the main lobby to help guide students to their exam room.
Students arriving to take an exam before the official reporting time will be asked to
wait in a designated location such as the 7th floor cafeteria until the official
reporting time after first quietly visiting their locker to deposit electronics and any
other materials not permitted in the testing locations. Students cannot leave the
exam room before the earliest dismissal time and cannot begin an exam after the
latest arrival time as listed on the regents calendar. Students who arrive after the
latest arrival time will have to take the exam during the next regents exam
administration which will either be in August or January.
Students who finish an exam and have no upcoming afternoon exam that same
day should leave the building immediately after retrieving their belongings from
their locker in as quiet a manner as possible. Students with both a morning and an
afternoon exam on the same day are encouraged to report to the designated
waiting area between exams.
If you are meeting up with another student before leaving the building, you should
make arrangements to meet them in the main lobby at the conclusion of the exam
and not in any other location. Any student found on any other floor except on the
floor where their exam is being given or their locker is located may be subject to
disciplinary action.

Barnard Bound provides a taste of both Barnard College and
New York City for promising young women who are high school
seniors and self-identitfy as students of color (which we define
as individuals from Black/African-American, Hispanic/Latina,
American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian, bi- and multi-racial

4-week intensive Summer TRaC: MAP FREE CITY
We’re exploring the arts world of NYC by traveling to FREE arts

participants will attend events and performances in the visual
and performing arts; meet professional artists, performers,
and writers; navigate NYC; critically respond to art; and publish
content on our online publication, The Journal of Arts and
Reviews (The JAR).
To be considered for Barnard Bound, a student must be
nominated by her Guidance Counselor AND submit a
completed application by Friday, June 12.
The application can be completed in one sitting, and we
recommend you read the instructions carefully before beginning
the application. As part of the application, a student will need to

How Does the
Lottery Work?
During the Cap and Gown Distribution
process at Graduation Rehearsal
#2 (June 22), students also receive
their graduation tickets and Senior
Luncheon Ticket. Extra tickets are
distributed at the Senior Luncheon,
and a student must be present in order
to receive the ticket.
Checklist
Between June 8, each Graduate must meet
with their Guidance Counselor to complete
the College Clearance portion of the Senior
Clearance Process. This is one requirement of
the Senior Clearance process, and the entire
process must be completed by June 15 in order
to be eligible for the extra ticket lottery. Your GC
will review with you your college information in
Naviance, help you remove colleges you did not
apply to, and review your Graduation Survey.
This process takes approximately 5 minutes.
Siblings of
Graduates
Luncheon tickets are color coded:
Luncheon + Lottery OR Luncheon
Only. Students entering the lottery
place their ticket in a bin. When all
caps and gowns have been distributed,
Dr. Stricklin-Witherspoon goes to the
luncheon and immediately begins
drawing names, and those students
are handed an extra tickets.
This
process continues until there are no
more extra tickets available. Students
must be present to receive a ticket
through the lottery.
We have found this process to be the
fairest way to distribute extra tickets,
so we do not entertain special requests
that circumvent this process.
Save Time &
Frustration
One of the most frustrating aspects of
the Senior Clearance Process is waiting
in line. Wait time can be reduced by
completing the Clearance Checklist
as soon as possible. This has to be
done before a graduate receives
graduation tickets and cap and
gown -- it is not just about entering the
extra ticket lottery.
Yearbook
Distribution
Yearbooks will be distributed on
Tuesday, June 9, beginning at 4:15
PM. All students receive a Yearbook.
Only students who have paid their
Senior Dues by June 8 may receive
their book at this time. Yearbooks will
be distributed in the Guidance Suite.
Students are to line up along the inside
wall on the School Store side of the
second floor. Once students sign for
their book, they are to walk past the
Health Office and exit the first staircase
(Staircase A).
When you receive your book, please
write your name inside the book in
case the book is lost or misplaced.

Prom is a formal, all-inclusive Dinner/Dance. No person shall be admitted after 10:00 PM. There is no readmission once a person leaves. Students are responsible
for their own transportation. Smoking is not permitted at the facility. The student and his/her guest must enter together. All ticket holders must show picture ID
before entering the Marriott Marquis. There are no refunds.
Dr. Stricklin-Witherspoon must approve, in advance, any change in guest.
There are no school-sponsored post-prom events.
