MOSQUE
(BLUE
MOSQUE)
More familiarly known as the Blue Mosque due to
its interior panelling of blue and white Iznik tiles, it
was built for Sultan Ahmet I between 1609 - 1616.
HIPPODROME (Sultanahmet, Old town)
The Hippodrome was a circus that was the sporting
and social centre of capital of the Byzantine Empire.
Today it is a square named Sultan Ahmet Square with
a few fragments of the original structure surviving.

Hagia Sophia is a great architectural beauty and
an important monument both for Byzantine and for
Ottoman Empires. Once a church, later a mosque,
and now a museum at the Turkish Republic, Hagia

TOPKAPI PALACE (Sultanahmet, Old town)
The opulent home of the Ottoman Sultans from
the 15th-19th centuries, highlights include the

Dolmabahçe Palace located in the Besiktas district
of Istanbul, Turkey, on the European coastline of the
Bosphorus strait, served as the main administrative
center of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1922.

EYÜP SULTAN MOSQUE (Eyüp)
The Eyüp Sultan Mosque is situated in the district of Eyüp, near the Golden Horn, outside the
Walls of Constantinople. Built in 1458, it was the
first mosque constructed by the Ottoman Turks following the Conquest of Constantinople in 1453.
The mosque rises next to the place where Abu Ayyub
al-Ansari, the standard-bearer of the Islamic prophet
Muhammad, is said to have been buried during the
Arab assault on Constantinople in 670. His tomb is
greatly venerated by Muslims, attracting many pilgrims. Some of the personal belongings of Muhammad
are preserved in the building that houses the tomb.

GALATA TOWER (Galata, Taksim)
The Galata Tower is a medieval stone tower in
the Galata/Karaköy quarter of Istanbul, just to
the north of the Golden Horn’s junction with the
Bosphorus. One of the city’s most striking landmarks, it is a high, cone-capped cylinder that dominates the skyline and offers a panoramic vista
of Istanbul’s Historic Peninsula and its environs.
MINIATURK (Eyüp)
Minimized theme park of a great country. The
park contains 122 models done in 1/25th
scale. 58 of the structures are from Istanbul, 52
are from Anatolia, and 12 are from the Ottoman territories that today lie outside of Turkey.

PANORAMA 1453 HISTORY MUSEUM (Topkapi)
The Panorama 1453 Historical Museum is located
across from the spot on the Topkapi Edirnekapi ramparts. The museum is a panorama painting about the
conquest of Constantinople. Here the visitor will witness a scene of the Fall of Constantinople, in particularly the moment the Ottoman troops broke the Byzantine defences of the city. After the fall, the Ottoman
Sultan Mehmet II, gained the title of Fatih (conqueror).
The painting surrounding measures 38 meters in diameter and covers an area of 2,350 square meters.
ISTANBUL MODERN
The Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, Turkey’s first
private museum to organize modern and contemporary art exhibitions, was founded in 2004
and occupies an 8,000 square meter site on the
shores of the Bosphorus. Istanbul Modern embraces a global vision to collect, preserve, exhibit
and document works of modern and contemporary art and make them accessible to art lovers.

BURSA
GREAT MOUNTAIN (ULUDAG)
Known as “Green Bursa”, this province stands on
the lower slopes of Uludag (Mount Olympos of
Mysia, 2543 m) in the Marmara region of Anatolia. The title “Green” of Bursa comes from its
gardens and parks and of course from its being in
the middle of an important fruit growing region.
The Eski Kaplica (Old Spring) of Cekirge district is the
oldest in the province. The Karamustafa Pasa Baths
are famous, and boast the best hot, mineral waters.
The Ancient Mysian Olympus is a mountain in Bursa province with an altitute of 2543 m (8,343 ft)
GRAND MOSQUE
Bursa Grand Mosque or Ulu Cami is a mosque in Bursa, Turkey. Built in the Seljuk style, it was ordered by
the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I and built between 1396
and 1399. The mosque has 20 domes and 2 minarets.
It is a popular center for winter sports such as skiing
and a national park of rich flora. Summer activities such
us trekking, camping are very popular for students.

Visible from across Bursa, the mausoleum sits atop a hill
and is covered in monochrome tiles of a unique lightgreen color. reen is definitely the color of Bursa. Its most

YALOVA
Province Yalova is a province in northwestern Turkey, along the Sea of Marmara. Its adjacent provinces are Bursa to the south, and Kocaeli to the west.
The provincial capital is the city of Yalova. Prior to 1995,
Yalova constituted a district of Istanbul Province. The city
has a number of tourist attractions such as the Atatürk
Pavilion and of course, its famous hot springs in Termal.

SAPANCA
Lake Sapanca is one of the few lakes in Turkey,
which provides drinking water, but it is exposed to
heavy urbanization because of its natural beauty and its proximity to the metropolitan Istanbul.
ABANT
Bolu is approximately 200 km from Istanbul and is famous for its verdant black pine and scots pine trees Forests (also oak, willow, hazelnut trees) and hot springs.
Lake Abant is located about 40 km from Bolu center and is at an altitude of around 1320 meters. The
lake is a fresh water lake with an area of about 1.28
square kilometers formed as a result of a great landslide. The lake is under environmental protection.
Another place of interest in the Bolu/Abant area
is the Yedigoller (Seven Lakes) National Park,
and Golcuk, an artifi cial lake 11 kms south of
this. You may also visit Kartalkaya in the Koroglu
Mountains which is a winter ski resort in Turkey, but
also beautiful in the summer. 53 kilometers from Bolu
is a place called Konuralp, which was an ancient city,
where you can see Roman and Byzantine art and ruins.
KARTEPE (literally Snowy hill referring to mountains to the south) is situated in the east of Kocaeli Gulf. Kartepe Mountains are to the south
and Sapanca Lake is to the east of Kartepe.
