Vase (A) - Basketweave the Blue Area using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 8 796. Couch the DMC
Memory Thread 6200 onto the Gold Area of the Vase design using 1 strand DMC Metallic Embroidery
Thread Dark Gold Art. 284. Use the same DMC Memory Thread & Art. 284 when couching the outer
edge of this Vase.
Flowers (B) - Diagonal Long Stitch couched with a Half Cross using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size
5 608 or 606 (according to the painted canvas) for both the Laid Foundation and the Half Cross stitch.
Lay one full strand of DMC Light Effects E3821 along the Gold Outer Edge. Couch in place using 1
strand DMC Art. 284. Oval Eyelets the Flower Centers using 1 strand DMC Art. 284.
Leaves (C) - Satin Stitch and then Padded Satin Stitch (this means stitching twice for coverage and
padding) the Leaves using 6 strands DMC Floss 943. Couch the Swirl design onto the Leaves using
DMC Memory Thread 6390 and 1 strand DMC Floss 3812.
Stems (C) - Using 1 really long piece of DMC Memory Thread 6390, first create the V-shaped Loop
and then twist the remaining ends together forming the Stem. Couch in place using 1 strand DMC
Floss 3812. Couch the Vine Tendril using DMC Memory Thread 6390 and 1 strand DMC Floss 3812.
Vase (D) - Aliciaʼs Lace the Light Blue area using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 8 996. Make a
Woven Spider over the large Gold Circles using DMC Memory Thread 6200 for the Spokes. Notice
the Spoke Lengths are uneven and extend into the Light Blue area. Then, take 1 strand DMC Perle
Cotton size 5 704 and begin weaving the Woven Spider. The last step is to make a Coils of DMC
Memory Thread 6240 and plunge each end into the Woven Spider. Couch the Spiral Coil in place
using 1 strand DMC Light Effects E5200. Outline the Light Blue Vase by couching DMC Memory
Thread 6110 around the outer edge of the Vase using 1 strand DMC Floss 3846.
Flower (E) - Basketweave the Dark Purple Flower Petals using 4 strands DMC Satin Floss S550.
Attach Darice Antique Gold Cast Spacers Beads on top of the Gold Areas using Sundance Beads
size 8 #27 and 1 strand DMC Satin Floss S550; doubled in the needle. Couch DMC Memory Thread
6380 around the outer edge of the Dark Purple Flower Petals using 1 strand DMC Satin Floss S550.
Attach Looped DMC Memory Thread 6200 to the canvas for the Flower Center outer edge. Attach
Twisted & Coiled DMC Memory Threads 6180 and 6380 to the canvas for the Flower Center middle
section. Attach Coiled DMC Memory Thread 6200 on top of the Twisted & Coiled section and secure
the ends to the back of the canvas.
Stem (E) - Lay 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 911 sandwiched between 2 lengths of DMC
Memory Thread 6160. Couch all three pieces in place using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 911.
Leaf (E) - Make a loop with an extended tail using DMC Memory Thread 6160 for the 3-D Leaf. Picot
Needleweaving the Leaf using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 702. Couch 1 strand DMC Perle
Cotton size 5 702 for the Leaf Vein using 1 strand DMC Floss 702. Sink the tail ends into the back of
the canvas and secure.

Flower (F) - Diagonal Mosaic the Light Purple Flower Petals using a combination of 3 strands DMC
Light Effects E155 and 3 strands DMC Color Variations Floss 4215 in the same needle. Attach Darice
10MM Gold Bell Caps couched in place over the Gold Areas using 1 strand Art. 284. Add a Turquoise
Bead size 8 bead for the center. Couch DMC Memory Thread 6180 around the outer edge of the
Light Purple Flower Petals using 1 strand DMC Light Effects E155. Attach Twisted DMC Memory
Thread (2 strands twisted) for the Flower Center. In this order (from center to outer edge) you will use
the following DMC Memory Thread: 6200, 6180 and 6370.
Stem (F) - Lay 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 909 sandwiched between 2 lengths of DMC
Memory Thread 6330. Couch all three pieces in place using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 909.
Leaf (F) - Encroaching Gobelin the Leaf using 4 strands DMC Floss 470. Outline the Leaf using DMC
Memory Thread 6160 and 1 strand DMC Floss 910.
Flower (G) - Alternating Diagonal Mosaic the Fuchsia Flower Petals using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton
size 8 718. Couch DMC Memory Thread 6120 around the outer edge of the Fuchsia Flower Petals
using 1 strand DMC Floss 600. Satin Stitch the Outer Ring of the Flower Center using 6 strands DMC
Satin Floss S797. The Flower Center is made from a Twisted Coil of DMC Memory Thread 6070 and
6380. Then, attach Small Loops using DMC Memory Thread 6110. Add Curly Qs using DMC Memory
Thread 6200 over the Gold Areas; couched in place using 1 strand DMC Art. 284.
Stem (G) - Lay 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 911 sandwiched between 2 lengths of DMC
Memory Thread 6160. Couch all three pieces in place using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 911.
Leaf (G) - Encroaching Gobelin the Leaf using 4 strands DMC Floss 470. Outline the Leaf using DMC
Memory Thread 6160 and 1 strand DMC Floss 910.
Flower (H) - Diagonal Mosaic the Light Purple Flower Petals using a combination of 3 strands DMC
Light Effects E155 and 3 strands DMC Color Variations Floss 4215 in the same needle. Make Coils of
DMC Memory Thread 6200 and place over each Gold Area. Couch in place using 1 strand DMC Art.
284. Couch DMC Memory Thread 6180 around the outer edge of the Light Purple Flower Petals
using 1 strand DMC Light Effects E155. Attach Twisted DMC Memory Thread (2 strands twisted) for
the Flower Center using DMC Memory Thread 6200. Add a Beaded Ring surrounding the Twisted
Center using Sundance Beads size 8 #25 strung on length of DMC Memory Thread 6180.
Stem (H) - Lay 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 909 sandwiched between 2 lengths of DMC
Memory Thread 6330. Couch all three pieces in place using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 909.
Leaves (H) - Encroaching Gobelin the Leaves using 4 strands DMC Floss 701. Outline the Leaf using
DMC Memory Thread 6330 and 1 strand DMC Floss 3818.

Flower (I) - Diagonal Cashmere the Navy Flower Petals using 6 strands DMC Floss 820. Couch DMC
Memory Thread 6200 around each Gold Area using 1 strand DMC Art. 284. Fill the Gold Area with
Horizon Blue Crystals. Couch DMC Memory Thread 6100 around the outer edge of the Navy Flower
Petals using 1 strand DMC Floss 803. The Flower Center is a found object: Recollections ½” metallic
gold embellishment surrounded by DMC Memory Thread 6200. Add Braided DMC Memory Thread
using the following colors: 2 each of 6120 and 6180. Attach in place using 1 strand of E155.
Stem (I) - Lay 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 911 sandwiched between 2 lengths of DMC Memory
Thread 6160. Couch all three pieces in place using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 911.
Leaf (I) - Encroaching Gobelin the Leaf using 4 strands DMC Floss 470. Outline the Leaf using DMC
Memory Thread 6160 and 1 strand DMC Floss 910.
Vase (J) - This Vase is divided into different sections for ease of following the stitch guide.
Section 1 - Continental the Purple Triangles using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 8 556.
Vertical Satin the Top Gold Triangle Band using 2 strands DMC Light Effects E3821.
Section 2 - Brick Stitch the Top Stripe using 6 strands DMC Floss 3835.
Section 3 - Mosaic Stitch the Light Purple Stripe using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 8 211.
Section 4 - Criss Cross Hungarian the Purple Stripe using 6 strands DMC Floss 327. Then, fill
in the remaining areas using 6 strands DMC Satin Floss S553.
Section 5 - Skip Tent the Purple Background using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 8 553.
Section 6 - Skip Tent the Purple Background using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 8 556.
Section 7 - Basketweave the Light Stripe using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 8 211.
Section 8 - Brick Stitch the Bottom Stripe using 6 strands DMC Floss 3835.
Section 9 - Twisted together DMC Memory Thread 6180 and 6380. Then, make a string of
Heart Knots and apply to canvas on top of Section 3.
Section 10 - Twist together 2 lengths of DMC Memory Thread 6380, and apply to the canvas
between Sections 4 and 5.
Section 11 - Attach Looped Coils on top of Section 5 using DMC Memory Thread 6200 and 1
strand DMC Art. 284 for couching. Attach Sundance Beads size 8 #27 over the Gold Areas
using 1 long strand DMC Art. 284; doubled in the needle.
Section 12 - Stack Gold Beads over the Gold Stripes using Darice 3 x 6MM Plaited Gold
Beads using 1 long strand DMC Art. 284; doubled in the needle.
Section 13 - Attach Darice 10MM Gold Plated Bell Caps and Sundance Beads size 11 #4601
on top of the Gold Area using 1 long strand DMC Art. 284; doubled in the needle.
Section 14 - Braid 4 lengths of DMC Memory Thread 6180 and apply on top of Section 7.
Section 15 - Twist together 2 lengths of DMC Memory Thread 6370, and apply to the canvas
below Section 8.
Flowers (K) - Basketweave the Outer Flower area using 4 strands DMC Color Variations Floss 4120.
Vertical Satin Stitch the Gold Hearts using 6 strands DMC Light Effects E3821. Twist together 2
lengths of DMC Memory Thread 6200, and couch to the Gold Border using 1 strand DMC Art. 284.

Flowers (L) - Basketweave the Outer Flower area using 4 strands DMC Color Variations Floss 4120.
Vertical Satin Stitch the Gold Hearts using 6 strands DMC Light Effects E3821.
Flowers (M) - Basketweave the Outer Flower area using 4 strands DMC Color Variations Floss 4124.
Vertical Satin Stitch the Gold Hearts using 6 strands DMC Light Effects E3852.
Stems (N) - Long/Straight Stitch the Stems using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 8 911.
Leaves (O) - Make a loop with an extended tail using DMC Memory Thread 6160 for each 3-D Leaf.
Picot Needleweaving each Leaf using 6 strands of either DMC Floss 910, 911 and 913. Couch each
Leaf Vein (1 length of 6 strands DMC Floss 910, 911, and 913) with 1 strand matching Floss. Sink the
tail ends into the back of the canvas and secure.
Light Pink Dots (P) - Round Eyelets the Light Pink Dots using 2 ply DMC Light Effects E818 or
E967.
Light Pink Dot with Swirl (PP) - Work the same Round Eyelets for the Light Pink Dot and then add a
Swirl to the center using DMC Memory Thread 6240.
Floating Loop Flower (Q) - Loop Flower using DMC Memory Thread 6200, and couch to the Gold
Area using 1 strand DMC Art. 284. Add a Mill Hill Bead #12220 to the Center of the flower using 1
long strand DMC Art. 284; doubled in the needle.
Floating Gold Heart (R) - Couch around the Gold Heart using DMC Memory Thread 6200 and 1
strand DMC Art. 284.
Floating Double Loop Flower (S) - Large Loop Flower the bottom layer using DMC Memory Thread
6200 and couch to the Gold Area using 1 strand DMC Art. 284. Small Loop Flower the top layer using
DMC Memory Thread 6210. Add a Mill Hill Bead #12111 to the Center of the flower using 1 long
strand DMC Art. 284; doubled in the needle.
Floating Orange Hearts (T) - Alternating Half Cross the Outer Areas of the Floating Hearts using
either 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 606 or 608, according to the painted canvas. Weave in
Basket formation the Inner Gold Area using 1 strand DMC Perle Cotton size 5 3821. First, make the
Vertical Laid Foundation across every two canvas threads. Then, Weave the Horizontal threads
across every two canvas threads. Attach Knotted DMC Memory Thread to the outer edge of the
Floating Heart using DMC Memory Thread 6150, and couch in place using 1 strand DMC Floss 946.

Start each coil at the outside edge. Work your
tacking stitches over the main thread and one
canvas thread. Your tacking stitches should be as
small as possible. Avoid making spokes. Instead
you want to stagger the tacking stitches.
