Hyperrealistic Drawing Workshop
Hyperrealistic Drawing Workshop
with the Maestro Emanuele Dascanio
Ibiza, from the 25th of October to the 1st of November 2015
Born in Milan in 1983, Emanuele discovered a passion for
art early in life. After graduating from the Lucio Fontana
Art School in Arese he enrolled at the Academy of Brera.
Find the Academy's methods and ethos stifling he
abandoned those studies in search of a creative
atmosphere that would satisfy his desire for artistic
growth.
He established a close relationship with Gianluca Corona
and in his atelier Emanuele fervently took in the maestro's
knowledge of techniques that had been handed down
from the Renaissance.
Emanuele Dascanio
Emanuele devotes much of his time to the study of artistic
technique and searches continuously to improve his
expressive capabilities. He has exhibited in galleries and
fairs throughout Italy, Germany and Asia.
His love of art and his passion for learning lead him to
establish art retreats where people at all levels can learn
new skills, deepen their knowledge and connect with other
artists.
Aim of the workshop
The aim of this workshop is to equip
the artist with the necessary skills
and knowledge to continue refining
and practicing hyperrealistic art
within their own work.
You will learn a variety of methods,
tips and tricks that will help you to
become proficient and confident in
producing your own hyperrealistic
pieces.
Hyperrealistc techniques can be
learned regardless of the level of the
artists. The workshop will arm you
with new skills and improve on
your existing ones.
The Technique
Art dealer Isy Brachot coined the term Hyperréalisme in
the 1970s to describe an offshoot movement of
photorealism that emerged in the 1960s.
Unlike photorealism, hyperrealist painters and sculptors
use certain techniques to create a more narrative and
emotive rendering of their subject. Although
photographic in essence, hyperrealism presents a softer,
more complex focus. The subject is depicted as a living,
tangible object. Textures, surfaces, lighting effects, and
shadows appear clearer and more distinct than the
reference photo or even the actual subject itself. Subtle,
pictorial elements are used to create the illusion of detail,
which in fact either does not exist or cannot be seen by the
human eye.
Using a series of cross hatching techniques combined with
an understanding of surface and light the subject is
rendered with an emotional poetry, carrying a narrative
moment in time. The viewer is free to place that narrative
within the parameters of his own experience.
Various tools - charcoal, graphite, black stone, kneaded
rubber and supports - are utilised to create the illusion of
reality, a hyper reality that the human eye does not
always perceive in real life.
How The Course
Is Structured
This workshop is presented in a modular format.
Each day contains an independent exercise and
subject. Single days can be booked, however,
participating in the entire week will provide artists
with several skills and techniques through working
with various subject matters and materials.
Schedule
09.00 - 13.00 class
13.00 - 14.00 lunch
14.00 - 17.00 class
17.00 - free time
Breakfast and lunch are provided and enjoyed
communally so that the flow of sharing information
CAN CONTINUE UNBROKEN. Dinners can be
arranged at Mandala House or enjoyed in the many
fine restaurants nearby.
The tools used to create the techniques are very
specific and we encourage participants to prepurchase a pack of tools through the Mandala House
so that each person has access to the same materials.
Why A
Residential
Workshop?
Residential workshops and retreats
provide the space and time for a deeper
exploration of the subject and theme.
Living, working and sharing meals with
teachers
and
other
workshop
participants allows for a continuous
conversation, shared over days, creating
a community of people with similar
interests and goals. Friendships are
formed and connections nurtured. The
subject of the retreat permeates
throughout the period and in turn
encompasses
many
more
topics,
journeys and ideas.
One-on-one access to the teacher is
better facilitated through small groups
and shared experiences. In order for
each individual to enjoy moments of
one-on-one interaction with the maestro
places are limited to a maximum of 20
participants.
The Location
We are a retreat and vacation venue located in Santa
Eulalia, Ibiza. It comfortably accommodates up to 20 people
and combines the tranquility and beauty of the crystalline
Mediterranean with the convenience and practicality of
being within walking distance from the town of Santa
Eulalia.
The House is surrounded by immaculately kept, communal
gardens with swimming pool and a view of the sea, which
is accessible by simply stepping out the garden gate. The
closest beach, Niu Blau, is 500 meters away and can be
reached by walking along a stunning coastal path. With the
center of town being less than a 10-minute walk away and
the nearest supermarket only 200 meters away, the house is
very conveniently located.
The peaceful environment of the house provides our
workshop participants with an ideal atmosphere for work,
contemplation, connection and rest.
Having accommodation within the same complex as the
workshop increases the opportunities for continual flow of
ideas and inspiration.
The studio space is prepared for all of your needs. Artists
are welcome to use the grounds and house as a backdrop
for their personal work.
The location, close to the sea, and the beauty of Ibiza offers
many wonderful activities and experiences.

peacefully with the conveniences of the modern world. A

of the island’s natural beauty and unique culture. Ibiza is
more than its reputation, come and stay with us to discover
the exquisite magic and peace that is our little parcel of
paradise.
A weeklong stay in Ibiza permits the discovery of many
hidden gems. “Ibiza Perspectives” can organize various
activities and events from guided forest walks, tours of the
Old Town, car hire, kayaking, yoga, cooking classes,
barbecues and more. Ask our representative for more

Testimonials
“I’d just like to thank you for hosting the most amazing seven days at Ibiza Perspectives for the Hyper Realistic
drawing workshop with Emanuele. It was a wonderful experience spending time with so many like minded artists
and in such breathtaking, peaceful surroundings.
The whole event was so well planned and organised right down to the culinary delights of Chris every morning.
Everyone was so friendly and supportive of each other and there were no barriers at all between the 11 nationalities
represented, a truly international occasion.
I would have no hesitation at all in recommending Ibiza Perspectives to anyone wishing to take part in or
organising a workshop. Thank you again.”

“I had the immense pleasure of attending a weeklong Hyper-realistic Art Retreat Workshop at Ibiza Perspectives
this past April with the Maestro Emanuele Dascanio. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to be a part of this
inspiring and fun workshop! I had a great experience at Ibiza Perspectives, a true artist’s paradise!
To be surrounded by such inspiring, amazing talented artists from all over the world, that I now call friends.
What a lovely organization and couldn’t be run by more lovely people. Our hosts Sarah and Maurizio were so
welcoming and lovely, more than we could ever hope for! I would highly recommend anyone considering attending
an artist retreat in Ibiza. I traveled from America and it was well worth the trip!
It has only been three weeks since I was there and I miss it already!! Our group is already planning another
workshop together! ”
