Making their
mark one package
at a time

Originally specializing in printing pressure
sensitive labels, Belmark has been providing
labelsand packaging to local businesses for
decades and currently provides multiple
products and services to their clients.
Belmark was founded in 1977 by Bruce
Bell. He saw a need for a business that could
make labels for other businesses, and wanted to
make his own mark on the industry. Providing
labels and packaging to local businesses,
Belmark also offers another very important
service; short-run printing. “Short-run printing
allows the businesses to get exactly what
they need and want without having to order a
ridiculous amount of labels. It makes things
very quick and convenient for the businesses
that we work with,” says Heather Swanson,
Belmark’s talent acquisition coordinator.
When Belmark was first started, they
specialized in pressure sensitive labels.
Currently they offer pressure sensitive labels,
flexible packaging and folding cartons. “We
provide packaging for the food industry for
products such as cheese, meat, confection,
dry goods, nutraceutical, coffee and tea,” says
Swanson.
Since inception, Belmark has experienced
steady growth. When created in 1977, the
entire business consisted of three employees.
Now, almost 40 years later, Belmark employs
around 800 at five different plants and is looking
to expand and make a sixth plant for production
by 2018. “We have seen constant growth since
we first opened the business. We haven’t had to
backtrack or lay anyone off. We are constantly
moving forward thanks to the great employees
we have, and the unique industry that we work
in,” adds Swanson.
Belmark is not only growing in terms of
business and manufacturing space, they are
looking to take on interns and apprentices to
allow high school students to get a look at what
the business is all about. “We really want to
reach out to high school students and show them
all of the opportunities that we have to offer,
and let them get an idea of what businesses
like ours are all about,” says Swanson.
“I really look forward to seeing all the growth
that is sure to happen in coming years. Also the
different things we will get to experience with
our apprentices. I think it will bring in a good
energy and will be a great learning experience
for all of us.”
Final thoughts:
“The Greater Green Bay Chamber has
provided us with so many unique opportunities
to work with many different community
members that we probably would not have
gotten to work with. They also are able to take
our goals and make them happen, especially
with our youth apprentices. They really
understand the needs of both the business and
the students, and make it a great experience
with both parties,” says Swanson.
