Show dates for the King and I are
March 9th and 10th. This wonderful
musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein
explores the merging of western culture with the east, when the king of
Siam decides he will “westernize” his
country. With help form Anna, an
English school teacher, he discovers it
is not as easy as he wants it to be. The
high school choir and elementary students have prepared a great show and
can’t wait to share it with you!

Celebrating the 60 Year Anniversary
We here at Alden-Hebron District 19
cordially invite you to the Hometown
Celebration at Alden-Hebron High
School on Sunday March 18, 2012,
celebrating the 60th Anniversary of
the Giants Basketball team winning
the state championship. There will be
a brunch in the Auditorium (original gym)
from 12:30 pm to 2 pm and the Champs of
1952 will be attending. Here is your chance
to ask questions or take pictures with men
who made history by winning a championship that everyone said they couldn’t win.
What an awesome thought.

Our Book Fair ended on February 17 with a reading strategies
presentation from Judy Smith, Title 1 reading teacher while students
played bingo to win Book Fair prizes. It was a well attended event.
Happy Reading!

The 3rd grade service learning group are
working on creating a 1952 booklet to be distributed at the celebration in March honoring
our 1952 basketball state champions. They
spent time researching how life was back in
1952. They invited Nancy Fike from the
McHenry County Historical Society, Bobette
Von Bergen and Cody LaBaron two locals to
come share their memories of life and the
eventful and amazing Giants winning the
state championship.

P.T.O. News
The Fun Fair/Bake Sale/Lip Sync
were a huge success on February
10th. The evening was filled with
new games, fancy face paintings,
and delicious baked goods. The
evening wrapped up with many
very talented participants in the Lip
Sync. THANK YOU so much for
all those that volunteered to help
with this exciting community
event.
Mr. Z's Fundraiser just wrapped
up. Last year the money earned
went towards automating the libraries within the district. This
year we hope to upgrade some of the
playground equipment, buy picnic
tables for the garden, and purchase
some technology to help create our
very own news channel! Thanks to
everyone that bought or sold items
from Mr. Z's!
The Alden-Hebron Cookbook is currently in press! Look for the cookbook to be out at the beginning of
April. Cookbooks will be sold for
$10. There are lots of delicious recipes
that your families and friends can enjoy!
Once again thanks again for collecting
those Box Tops! This year has
been one of our best! Proceeds
from Box Tops go towards helping
the 5th Graders attend their overnight trip to Atwood Educational
Center as well as art supplies.
Our next meeting will be March
14th at 3:00 p.m. in the elementary
library.

Calling all Softball & Baseball
The Hebron Field of Dreams Board is hosting a fundraiser at Crandalls Restaurant
on Monday, April 23 from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
Tickets will be $12.00 in advance or $15.00 at the door,
(carry-outs will be available.)
Our goal is to build the second softball/baseball field in the original
Kennedy Homes subdivision. Currently, the Alden-Hebron community and High School are using
the fields at the Elementary School, and as our community grows more and more games are being
scheduled to be played on our fields. This causes problems because there are too few fields for
the many games scheduled. The first field the board started will be ready for this years season
and with your help the second field can get started.
Mark the date on your calendar and come and enjoy a wonderful meal
either at Crandalls or at home with carry-out and help The Hebron Field of Dreams Board
Make this dream come true.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or from the following:
Jim Judson: 815-648-2233
Bobette VonBergen: 815-648-2783
Vicki & Mike Nielsen: 815-648-4939
Maggie & Jim Taylor: 815-648-2163
The Elementary Student Council sponsored
a cheering section for home basketball
games. They choose 3 games to attend, they
made signs with bold colors and saying like
“Go Giants”, and promoted the cheering
night so all the Giant fans could join them
in cheering the team to victory. Then came
to the event and cheered on our Giants!
