The Year of Mercy and Restorative Justice The
Bakersfield Chapter of California People of Faith
Working against the Death Penalty presents Bud
Welch who lost his daughter, Julie Marie, in the 1995
bombing of the Oklahoma City Federal Building. In
proclaiming the “Year of Mercy” Pope Francis said,
Mercy and Justice “are not two contradictory realities,
but two dimensions of a single reality that unfolds
progressively until it culminates in the fullness of love.”
In the aftermath of the bombing Bud lived that very
“justice/mercy” dynamic that tried his anti-death
penalty stance in a most excruciating way.
Bud will speak at St. Paul Newman Center in Fresno
at 7:00 PM on May 18, 2016. Don’t miss this
opportunity to hear the powerful story of his struggle to
regain his footing after this incredible blow to his heart.
