REGULAR CLUB CLASS SERVICE
Introduction Bike Express - Investing In The Future
Dear Cyclist,
Welcome to all cyclists, whether you have travelled with us before
or are considering using our service for the first time. Since its
inception in 1993 European Bike Express has offered the best way
into Europe for you and your bike with a unique and flexible service.
Having spent many years researching routes, places of interest and
the most convenient pick ups and drop offs in the U.K. and Europe,
we are confident European Bike Express provides the best choices
for the cyclist. The timetable and destinations listed in this brochure
and insert offer endless possibilities in choosing the best options for
your cycling holiday requirements. You can decide where to board
the coach in the U.K., which area of France or Spain you would
like to explore and how long you want to complete your unique
experience. You can start your tour in North East France using our
Med B Route and end it in South West France returning on our
Atlantic Route - if you have the energy! You make your own itinerary
and we provide an efficient, comfortable, safe transport service for
you and your bike.
Bike Express offers four routes, which enable itineraries throughout
France and Northern Spain and into Germany and Switzerland.
As an alternative we offer a Fixed Based Holiday in Rosas on the
Costa Brava in Spain. The excellent cycling opportunities alongside
the comfort and enjoyment of the Hotel Marian Platja have proved
to be a huge success with our clients since its introduction in 2006
(see page 9).
Our departures in early July link into various stages of the Tour de
France, the L’Etape du Tour together with our dedicated tour to the
Semaine Federale, satisfying an increasing demand for these events.
We hope our brochure provides all the information you need to plan
your cycling holiday.
BOOK ON LINE AND SAVE MONEY
By visiting www.bike-express.co.uk you can now
save on our scheduled single and return fares
(see brochure insert for details).
You can also visit our website www.bike-express.co.uk to see detailed
routes, accommodation listings, maps and travel information for
all UK and European pick up points. Dedicated time has gone into
collating this information from various sources to provide you with
a more detailed picture of what’s going on. You will also find links
to other cycling organisations and events. The website is updated
regularly to provide you with the latest information we have to offer,
so it may be useful to check it from time to time.
We are pleased to be continuing our association with the CTC, the
U.K.’s most widely recognised cycling organisation. A discount is
offered for current members on all departures except single fares
and the Fixed Base Holidays.
Whether you are looking to use our service for the first time or
are one of the 82% who are repeat custom, we look forward to
welcoming you onboard soon.

Luxury Coach Travel
Custom Built Trailers
Every year European Bike Express is proud to boast of the
high standard in Coach Travel that it has to offer.
This is due to the fact that the unique modifications made
to our Coaches onboard facilities make them by far the
most comfortable way to travel. The focal point for many
customers are the Club Class Seats which have been custom
made to provide more than enough leg room between you
and the seat in front and thus allows you to stretch out and
enjoy the journey. This has been done by removing seats on
both the upper and lower decks.
To achieve this we have balanced quantity alongside quality.
All our coaches are twin deck, fully air conditioned with Club
Class seats that have extendable calf supports and recline
to 45°. The coach seating comprises of panoramic seats at
the front, table seats in the mid-section and 44 club class
seats with extendable leg rests. On the lower deck of the
coach you will find a table seating area which can be used as
a dining area to enhance your meal time enjoyment (except
in peak season).
Our unique multi channel audio system has been a great
success and allows you to listen to, one of the three audio
channels, watch the DVD or enjoy peace and tranquillity.
Headphones are available at a cost of £1.50 or alternatively
you are welcome to bring your own.

Owing to the fact that there is no other coach company that
offers such a bike trailer service, we are the easiest and most
comfortable way for you and your bike to get into Europe.
Since inception, they have travelled thousands of miles
catering for the safety and specific travel requirements of
varied cycles. We are confident that your bike will be
transported to your chosen destination with the utmost care.
Our custom built fleet comprises of four double deck trailers
with carrying capacities of approximately 54 cycles of
different types. To enhance safe and secure cycle transit a new
clamping system has been introduced for the upper deck.
At your pick up point, your cycle will be loaded into and
carefully secured by our staff. Prior to the coaches arrival
please ensure that your handlebars are turned 90˚ to the left
to alleviate contact with any other bikes. Water bottles and
panniers need to be removed before loading (water cages can
remain in place).

Bayonne
Popular start point for a tour of the Pyrenees. Rewards are provided through
hard work and scenic climbs. Take on the 700 km journey along the Pyrenees
and meet the Bike Express in Perpignan or head south into Spain to complete the
Santiago de Compostella pilgrim route.
Lourdes
An excellent starting and finishing point for a tour of the high Pyrenees and
the challenge of the classic climbs used by the Tour de France. Those looking
for something a little gentler may enjoy exploring the Pyrenean foothills to the
north of Lourdes.
Toulouse
Situated on the Garonne river, the cycling is on relatively flat areas offering some
gentle cycling. The towpath along the Canal du Midi is popular and can be
ridden for some 40 km south west of Toulouse.
Agen
To the north lies the ever popular Lot valley and to the east the beautiful Tarn
Valley. These and the Dordogne (further north) are good (though hilly) cycling
destinations with some lovely cycling along the valleys.

Fixed Base Holidays In Rosas, Spain
The Holiday with a Difference
We know that touring is a very acceptable form of pleasure. Enjoying the sights and
sounds of new locations gives you renewed exhilaration, provides the senses with
limitless enjoyment and turns a cycling tour into a cycling paradise. We also know
that some enjoy cycling with the comfort of a fixed base to return to, guaranteed hot
water and a comfortable bed.
The Fixed Base Holiday blends the beauty of cycling with guaranteed comfort and
enjoyment. To cycle alongside lagoons, enjoy historic architecture and capture the
warmth of the sun adds comfort to the fact you are being cared for in comfortable
accommodation.
Santa Margarita – In the Bay of Rosas, Spain.
Many customers are already aware of the fantastic cycling opportunities in Spain especially
around the nature reserves and typically Spanish villages boasting relaxed hospitality.
The Hotel Marian Platja has a lift, swimming pool, tennis court, disco, money exchange, Wi-Fi
and each room has a phone and satellite t.v. as well as its own private toilet/shower. Sea view
rooms are also available at a supplement. Bike Storage is available (recently extended).
This area is of particular interest as there are many interesting places within easy cycling
distance. For non cyclists, the area has much to offer and it is therefore possible for an
avid cyclist to holiday with a non cycling partner and both have an enjoyable time.
The cycling in this area is varied. Those who like to ride long distances can explore
the regions of the Pyrenees Mountains or the fascinating nature reserves of Emporda
where there are around 330 species of birds nesting in the area and those who prefer
only short distances can easily ride into Empuriabrava or Rosas along the safe and
flat paths.
There are some very good routes as well along quiet roads towards the French Border and
through the National Park area of Cap de Creus towards Cadaques, Llanca, Portbou and
the lower slopes of the Pyrenees. You may wish to cycle south to L’Escala and through large
flat areas abundant with fruit orchards. Alternatively you can see the sights inland by riding
to Figueres and beyond to Banyoles and the surrounding volcanic natural park and then
up to the Pyrenees.

Terms & Conditions
European Bike Express Fair Trading Guarantee And Booking Conditions
We appreciate that your holiday is important to you. Before you make your choice, we want you to know that you will get a fair deal with our company - after all, It is in our own interest for you to be satisfied
and book with us again. When you make a booking with European Bike Express and we accept it, a contract is legally made - with obligations and rights on your side and ours, as set down below.
There is no “small print” in this leaflet but please read this Fair Trading Guarantee and the information regarding your holiday as this forms the basis of our contract with each other.
1. Booking your holiday.
You should either book online at
www.bike-express.co.uk, or contact
our reservations department either
by phone or e-mail to check that the
holiday which you require is available.
If you book via the office then your
completed booking form and deposit
must then be sent to us, together with
the relevant insurance premiums, to
reach us no later than seven days after
your reservation was made. If you book
your holiday within eight weeks of the
departure date, the booking form must
be accompanied by full payment for
the holiday. Upon receipt of the above
we will issue a confirmation invoice, at
which time your deposit/full payment
becomes non-refundable except in
circumstances detailed elsewhere in
these conditions.
2. Paying the balance of your
holiday.
You must pay the balance of your
holiday to us at least eight weeks
prior to departure WITHOUT ANY
FURTHER REMINDER. If you fail to pay
these monies by the due date we reserve
the right to cancel your holiday booking
and you may be liable for cancellation
charges as detailed under the section “If
you cancel your booking”. If you made
your booking online then you can pay
the balance online. Cheques should
be made payable to “European Bike
Express”.
3. If you change your booking
If after booking your holiday, you
wish to transfer to a different holiday,
departure date (only possible to
change dates within the current
timetable) or destination, or alter any
details (excluding name changes) on
the booking, we shall do our best to
meet your requirements – subject
to availability. Any changes must
be notified to us in writing and an
administrative charge of £8 per person
after the invoice and £15 per person
after the tickets have been issued will
be made. There is a maximum charge
of £30 per booking (NOTE: A change
of departure date within six weeks
of departure will be considered as a
cancellation and charged accordingly).
4. If you cancel your booking
You will appreciate that European Bike
Express will have incurred expenses in
connection with your holiday as soon
as your booking form has been received
and accepted. If you are forced to cancel
your holiday, a charge will therefore be
made. The amount of the charge will
depend upon the time at which notice
of cancellation is received by us at our
office.
The scale of cancellation charges which
will apply is set out below, expressed as
a percentage of the total holiday cost. If
cancellation is made more than 56 days
before intended departure only your
deposit will be forfeited.
56-29 days before intended departure:
30%
28-15 days before intended departure:
60%
14-1 days before intended departure:
100%
If at the last minute you decide not to
go on holiday and we are not notified
the 100% cancellation charge applies. A
valid cancellation can be made only in
writing by the person who signed the
booking form. The date of cancellation
will be the day on which we receive the
written notification. If you are forced
to cancel your holiday, remember that
you may be able to make a claim having
taken out holiday insurance (with the
premium paid) and the cancellation falls
within the terms of the insurance cover,
and don’t forget OUR holiday insurance
covers redundancy (conditions apply).
NB Proof of posting of cancellations will
be required in case of dispute.
5. If we change your booking
Whilst European Bike Express will at all
times endeavour to satisfy customer’s
requirements, nevertheless because
of changing circumstances European
Bike Express reserves the right to make
alterations to any booking made.
European Bike Express will of course
inform you as soon as possible in writing
the nature of the change. In this case
European Bike Express will offer you
the alternative of accepting services or
accommodation of a similar or better
standard to those originally booked (if
available) or a full refund of monies paid.
European Bike Express will not cancel
any holiday later than 56 days prior to
the departure date except when events
occur beyond European Bike Express’
control (see booking condition no 6)
or if the holiday payment has not been
made in full.
6. Events beyond European Bike
Express’ control
If certain events outside European Bike
Express’ control (being force majeure
comprising [but not limited to] war
or threat of war, terrorist activity,
political unrest, riots, civil strife, natural
disasters, closure of airports, technical
problems or accidents involving cross
Channel ferries or other transport, fire,
bad weather or any other event outside
the control of European Bike Express)
occur before your departure date then
European Bike Express may be forced to
cancel or substantially alter your holiday
arrangements. In such circumstances
should you decline to accept the
alternative offered then European
Bike Express may retain all reasonable
expenses incurred in connection with
the holiday booking. Should such events
occur after the departure then every
possible effort will be made to allow
the holiday to run its course before the
decision to discontinue is taken.
7. Our responsibilities
European Bike Express cannot be held
responsible for, nor will it offer any
refunds for delays or changes in the
holiday itinerary which may result
at any time due to adverse weather
conditions, road closures, traffic delays,
civil disturbances, industrial action or

pick up point 30 minutes before the
scheduled departure time. European
Bike Express cannot be held responsible
for any passenger’s failure to meet
the coach for any reason whatsoever.
Please see main holiday brochure for a
description of pick up locations. As with
international lines, it is accepted that the
coach may be earlier or later than the
scheduled time, but in case of adverse
traffic conditions, it may be more than
30 minutes late. Obviously we do our
best to avoid this. Please note too that all
arrival times are approximate; European

13. Replacement Coach and Trailer
With the coach tow hitches and trailers
operated by European Bike Express
being unique the likelihood of finding
a replacement at short notice is remote.
With this in mind we back up our
programme by keeping a spare coach
and trailer which can be despatched in
the unlikely event of a major breakdown
i.e. where a repair will take longer
than sending our back up coach. This
worst case scenario has never had
to be implemented. The vehicles are
thoroughly prepared and checked
before each trip with the emphasis
being on preventative maintenance.
