Objectives of streaming
• to determine subject combinations for
Upper Secondary
• based on the student’s personal interest,
aptitude and ability in various subjects,
and future aspirations & goals.
Considerations for Sec 3
Subject Combinations
•Core subjects - English, Math, Science, Humanities
•Criteria for applications to Junior College (L1R5),
Polytechnics (L1R2B2) and ITE
•Relevant subjects to face future challenges, new JC
curriculum (H1, H2, H3)
•Students’ interest and ability in different subject
combinations (preference survey carried out)

•Wide choice of subject combinations
•Exercise option only after end-of-year exam
•Number of classes for a subject combination
is not fixed. Classes will be opened only if
there are sufficient students with the ability
and interest who opt for it, and based on
availability of school resources

How is streaming done?
Composite Score
Composite score is calculated using the
student’s overall exam results.
The formula is related to the demands of the
Sec 3 subject combinations and requirements
for admission to JC/Poly.

+ Average of Humanities Mark (Hist/Geog/Lit) (20)
+ Overall Average of (2X MTL)(8) & DT & FCE & Art (12)
How is streaming done?
Streaming Procedure
1. After release of overall result, the composite score
is calculated and students are ranked according to
composite score
2. Students are then given the opportunity to exercise
the option of Sec 3 subject combinations after
getting their results.
3. Students opting for triple/double Science
combinations must get at least a B3 for both Math
and Science

4. Taking into consideration the availability of place
for a subject combination, students are assigned
based firstly on his rank order, then the choice of
subject combination

Step 2 – Register Subjects
Please click onto the
“Register Subjects” link
to start your subject registration
Step 3 – Rank the classes and subjects
Rank the classes and subjects based
on your preferences and click on
‘Submit’
Please click onto the
“My Registration” link
to review your submission
Review your submission and
re-register if needed.
Click on ‘Print’ if there are no further
changes and get your parents to endorse on
your printed option form.
Submit the printed form
(with parent’s signature )
to your form teacher (s)
on 21/10/15 (Wed)
Streaming results will
be released on
6 Nov (Fri)
via the Streaming
Portal
