THE OFFICIAL Newsletter OF FAWN RIDGE
architect designed several of the
buildings at nearby Florida Southern
College in Lakeland? On your next
Orlando visit, consider a stop and a
tour.
FUN
Explore a state park
 See lighthouses, check out the
abundant wildlife, explore the world
of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings or just
chill on a lake.
Try an offbeat Florida trip
 Forget the theme parks this summer
and shoot for one of these places and
events that we think make Florida the
funky and fun place it is. They show
the diversity of the Sunshine State.
Easy to find an oasis in Jacksonville
 This sprawling city in northeast
Florida is filled with parks,
waterways and trails where you can
escape the urban hubbub.
Try a wacky I-4 road trip
 Summer is coming up and you need a
game plan, pronto! Channel your
inner Clark Griswold and wheel that
SUV toward the east for some quirky,
amazing, whimsical roadside
attractions.
Exploring Frank Lloyd Wright
 Did you know that the famed
Sponge Docks make nice day trip
 The food, the sights, the sponges!
Nothing is better than a day trip to the
Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks. You
can get authentic Greek food and if you
catch it just right, see the divers go
down and get the sponges.
A good old swimming hole
 Bob's River Place doesn't advertise and
it's in the middle of nowhere. But
hundreds come on the weekends to
have fun on the rope swings and
waterslides.
Paddle the Weeki Wachee
 Skip the mermaids this trip and head
for the river instead. One of the bestkept secrets on the Gulf Coast, the
clear river is ideal for entry-level
paddlers or families with small
children.
Fun with springs is eternal
 Because it's summer now it might be
sweltering out. Put Ichetucknee
Springs on your must-list for this
summer. You can rent colorful tubes
and float peacefully in its cool
embrace.
Dive into fun
 The Rainbow Springs State Park is a
virtual outdoors theme park, with
tubing, snorkeling, camping and just
plain swimming. And it's only one
hundred miles north of the Tampa Bay
area.
Anyone up for a movie?
 If you are, Tampa Bay has plenty of
film series that are free or cheap, in
locations ranging from swimming
pools to venerable theaters
Satisfy your need for speed
 Check out all of the go-cart places
around Tampa Bay for all of your
younger Mario or Maria Andrettis.
Where the wild things are!
 At Dade City's Wild Things, you can
get up close and personal with nearly
200 animals, including Diamond, a
young tiger.
Spring in, cool down
 Too hot? Dive into one of Florida's
springs to cool off. With temperatures
in the springs at 72 degrees or cooler,
it will feel like you've been in the
fountain of youth.
All aboard for Egmont Key
 Just a short ferry trip off the coast at
Fort DeSoto, Egmont Key beckons
with its nature, history and distinctly
Florida experience. View our
slideshow and see if you agree that this
is a perfect day trip.
Let's go camping
 Roast marshmallows, tell stories, great
family time! (Fort DeSoto, anyone?).
Let's go shelling
 Sanibel Island is home to some of the
best shelling in Florida, and it's just a
short drive away.

Fawn Ridge Annual Meeting Results:
On Wednesday May 11th, The Fawn Ridge Maintenance
Association Annual Meeting was held at the Upper Tampa
Bay Regional Library. The meeting was well attended and it
was great to see some new faces as well as for some of our
regular, community –minded friends of Fawn Ridge.
Election results: There was one nomination from the floor for
Mr. Ryan Cizmarik. Mr. Cizmarik received majority of
votes and has been installed as a board member. Ryan has
resided in Fawn Ridge for a little over two years and has lived
in Tampa for a total of twelve years. Ryan is an electrical
engineer and works as an account manager for a custom
machine builder. Ryan wants to help his community and he is
aware that his home’s values are dependent on how well the
homeowner’s association performs its chartered duties.

We have published community newsletters since 1978! David Nobles will retain a seat on the board and Grace
Hutchinson will serve out the third year of a board vacancy
that was left by Marilyn Carter who resigned earlier this year.
Richard Casteline, a longtime resident of Fawn Ridge, has
volunteered to chair the covenants and fining committee.
John Lehr , Rafael Milanes, and Ana Zamprogno have
been serving on the Architectural Committee. They evaluate
the exterior modification applications that are submitted.
Jeanne Gorecki and Michelle Sutton have been hard at
work as Fawn Ridge advocates. They have constantly kept
needs of Fawn Ridge Park out in front and in focus of the
Parks Department and the County Commissioners. If you
haven’t stopped by Fawn Ridge Park lately, you should. You
will be amazed at the improvements.
Thank-you, to all our volunteers for their hard work
throughout the year.

Exterior Modifications To Your Home:
Requirements Before Commencing With
the Work.
The Fawnridger Newsletter is the official newsletter for Fawn
Ridge. This newsletter continually expresses to the residents of
Fawn Ridge the requirement (as noted in the deed restrictions)
of the need for prior approval from the Board of Directors/
Architectural Committee before commencing with exterior
modifications. While most of the residents are cooperating
some residents choose not to comply with this simple
requirement at their own peril.
Completing an exterior modification without prior approval
may prove to be an expensive venture. Some modifications, if
completed without approval, may have to be reconfigured or
taken down all together. This costs the resident time and
money, two resources that no one should have to waste. In most
cases, “The Fawnridger Newsletter” will contain a modification
application. You can always find one on the HOA website.
Click on: www.fawnridge.org and goto resources and click on
“mod form”. The form is easy to complete and you may fax,
email or snail mail. The management office will email or mail
confirmation of the application and will forward to the ARC
committee. The State of Florida provides Homeowners
Associations 30 days to respond back to owners seeking
approval for exterior work. However, most requests are
processed within 5 days or less.


Never leave a child unattended in a pool or spa and always
watch your child when he or she is in or near water.
Teach children basic water safety tips.
Keep children away from pool drains, pipes and other openings
to avoid entrapments.
Have a telephone close by when you or your family is using a

My Father
(Author Unknown)
When I was:
Four years old:
My daddy can do anything.
Five years old:
My daddy knows a whole lot.
Six years old:
My dad is smarter than your dad.
Eight years old:
My dad doesn't know exactly everything.
Ten years old:
In the olden days, when my dad grew up, things were sure different.
Twelve years old:
Oh, well, naturally, Dad doesn't know anything about that. He is too
old to remember his childhood.
Fourteen years old:
Don't pay any attention to my dad. He is so old-fashioned.
Twenty-one years old:
Him? My Lord, he's hopelessly out of date.
Twenty-five years old:
Dad knows about it, but then he should, because he has been around
so long.
Thirty years old:
Maybe we should ask Dad what he thinks. After all, he's had a lot of
experience.
Thirty-five years old:
I'm not doing a single thing until I talk to Dad.
Forty years old:
I wonder how Dad would have handled it. He was so wise.
Fifty years old:
I'd give anything if Dad were here now so I could talk this over with
him. Too bad I didn't appreciate how smart he was.
I could have learned a lot from him.
