The basic idea behind early warning is that the earlier and more accurately we are able to predict potential risks
associated with natural hazards esp. flood, the more likely we will be able to manage and mitigate disasters’ impact on
society, economies, and environment.

Early warning system is the provision of timely and effective information, which allows individuals exposed to hazard
to take action to avoid or reduce their risk and prepare for effective response.
Early warning systems help to reduce economic losses and mitigate the number of injuries or deaths from a disaster,
by providing information that allows individuals and communities to protect their lives and properties.

Features:
Real time data reporting
Displays alpha numeric characters
Uses CDMA, GSM and Iridium for the communication with the server
Automatically generates siren when warning is
received
The server itself controls text messages and siren
Backup plans for failure of any one of the ways for
generation of alarm
How does EWS work?
The system generates an alarm automatically as soon as it receives an acknowledgement either through web, SMS or other device
(here, data logger) for any alarming condition.
For example: For flood forecasting, the water level is constantly monitored through the web based interface and whenever the
crucial thresholds of the water level are exceeded persistently, an acknowledgement is sent to the system through the web and as a
response to it, the system generates alarm automatically. Thus everyone in the village is made aware of the danger of flood.
If there is no internet connectivity, any individual can send SMS to the system incase of sudden danger or the data logger itself can
send SMS to the device to generate the alarm.
