Gregory W. Hunolt
(February 18, 1943 - December 2, 2015)
Send Flowers
Gregory W. Hunolt of Plymouth, age 72, passed away unexpectedly December 2, 2015 at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.
Greg was born February 18, 1943 in Chicago, the first of three sons of Glenn and Elaine (Rogers) Hunolt. He grew up in the Chicago and St. Louis suburbs, developing an early interest in science and space travel. He earned a degree in meteorology at St. Louis
University, and took graduate courses there as well.
During his career, he worked for the Navy, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and finally the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the Washington, D.C. area. Although usually not an enthusiastic traveler, Greg
enjoyed overseas trips during his NASA career to work with his space agency counterparts in cities including London, Rome, Munich and Tokyo.
It was while working in Washington, D.C. that he met his wife, Jean Ann Blanke, who he married in 1983. After he retired, he and
Jean Ann moved back to her beloved family home in Plymouth.
Greg was a man of many interests who believed he never could be bored in retirement. He read widely in history, philosophy, religion and, of course, science fiction.
He was an avid collector and researcher of antique radios, particularly tube radios from the 1920s. He was past president of the
Wisconsin Antique Radio Club, and was active in similar radio clubs in Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and Maryland. He was the editor of the Wisconsin Antique Radio Club newsletter and contributed articles, both scholarly and light-hearted, to radio journals
across the country. He is the author of the Battery Set Compendium, which is a valued resource for radio collectors and researchers of antique radios.
Greg loved music of many types, ranging from classical to bluegrass to jazz. He was a great fan of cats, even though he was profoundly allergic to them.
Over the past several years, Greg was bothered increasingly by rheumatoid arthritis, but was positive and uncomplaining, determined to live life to the fullest. He was active with a full schedule until the day of his death.
Greg is survived by his wife, Jean Ann, of Plymouth, and his two brothers, Philip and Jon, who live out of state. He is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Peggy and Jay Ellis of Plymouth, and Julie and Don Gonzo of Port Washington. He also is survived by his great friend and antique radio colleague Dale (Chris) Boyce of Milwaukee, and nieces, nephews, and many friends.

January Meeting Notes
Looking Ahead for 2016
As you all know by now we lost Greg Hunolt on
December 2, 2015 at the age of 72. Check out a
full-page spread on page 3 of this newsletter. We
had a good turnout at the January meet, windy and
cold at 17 Deg but warm and cozy inside at 70
Deg. We had 12 sellers, and a count of 58 people
at the meet by 9 AM. The Club took in $26.50
from the 50-50 raffle. More hats, polo shirts, Tshirts, and sweatshirts were sold totaling $115.00.
The pizza was cooked by W.G’s and was delicious.
Mike Sajdowitz who right now is your club secretary, and photo photographer, will be taking on
the role as WARCI Newsletter Editor also. The
newsletter is going to small in the beginning but
will grow as I become more associated with Microsoft Publisher. So and comments, photos, articles etc. you want, let me know. Previous newsletter advertisements will also be added.
March Meeting Notes
We had a better turnout for the March meet with
18 sellers and a attendance of 61 by 8:30AM.
There was no 50-50 raffle because we were short
handed for the meet missing 2 staff members.
The club sold another $21.00 in sales and the
donation auction brought in $51.00. The club has
2 more memberships and 6 renewals brining our
total membership to 92, and Joe’s great pizza.

Site Plan for the Landmark / Terminal
Thanks to Joe Halser for hosting WARCI Meets
The Landmark 1850 / Terminal facility is used for WARCI’s swap meets (except
in January) with the kind permission of Joe Halser (and we also enjoy the delicious Pizza that Joe provides).
The Landmark area is used for outdoor meets held on good weather. The Landmark building is open for refreshments.
The Terminal area is used for indoor meets in rainy or cold weather (though
some folks may set up in the Terminal parking area even if the weather is marginal).
The facility in use at a swap meet will be open at 7:00 AM. Folks may come earlier to set up for outdoor selling.
