AN EXCITING NEW CHAPTER
Leyton Central rises up as an iconic local landmark
that is symbolic of the area’s rapid change. You can
now make a new home here in this increasingly
sought-after East London neighbourhood.
For the design of Leyton Central,
architects Stock Woolstencroft,
with urbanists Studio Aitken and
developer Tudorvale, wanted to
create a building that was both
striking and self assured.
On site parking and bike storage
make it easy for your next day
of exploring. Because living
here is just the start of your
East London adventure.

The asymmetrical roof is
designed to capture the
imagination, while echoing
the grain and street patterns
of the historic Victorian
neighbourhood. It’s all about
being part of a community
going through transition.
The clean white lines of the
interiors creates a striking
minimal backdrop, straight
from the pages of Wallpaper*
magazine. The pared down
simplicity continues with the
landscaped garden courtyard,
providing a sanctuary from the
urban bustle.

EVERYONE IS TALKING
Leyton is emerging from the shadows of its hip
neighbours. Combining chic urban living with
a neighborhood vibe, Leyton Central is a key
part of that transition.
6
It was back in the mid 1990s
around the appropriately
named Bricklayers Arms in
Old Street, when a group of
artists laid the foundations
for East London’s creative
renaissance. The same energy
that saw areas like Hackney and
Dalston transformed has now
reached Leyton.
But being at Leyton Central
you’ll soon realise East London’s
not all about pop ups and craft
beer. Whether it’s riding your
bike through Victoria Park,
swimming lengths at London
Fields lido, or trying out the
iconic London 2012 Olympic
venues on your doorstep, the
area gives you space to unwind.
When Patrick Brill, better
known by his pseudonym
Bob and Roberta Smith, built
a studio in his garden shed
and named it Leytonstone
Centre for Contemporary Art,
it typified the individual spirit
of the area. New galleries and
independent stores are helping
E10 and E11 become the latest
hot postcodes in East London.
These new spaces wouldn’t be
out of place in neighbouring
Hackney and Shoreditch. Here
cutting edge galleries mix with
equally contemporary bars
and independent boutiques to
create an alternative and exciting
space for 21st century living.
An oasis for relaxation, the
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park,
in the shadow of the Westfield
Centre, will soon also be home
to major new spaces for the
V&A, Sadler’s Wells, and
London College of Fashion.
In Vogue magazine’s Let’s
Move piece suggested it was
“setting the stage for a new
fashion and arts hub”.
Whether you travel into the City,
Canary Wharf or Central London
for work, the excellent and
varied transport links make
Leyton Central an even more
desirable and connected place
to call home.

Leyton is buzzing right now with
the arrival of new independent
boutiques and restaurants.
Surrounded by green space,
it also brings you the best of
urban East London - from the
galleries of Hackney Wick to
the fashion stores of Shoreditch,
and from the village vibe of Victoria
Park to the shabby chic of Clapton.

YOU CAN RELAX
Delve a little deeper into East London’s urban
fabric and you will discover countless green
spaces. Here the possibilities for relaxation
really are endless – from seriously testing
mountain bike trails to Zen like spaces for yoga.
When the athletes left the
Olympic Village in 2012 they
left behind a legacy that has
seen this neglected part of East
London transformed. The Queen
Elizabeth Olympic Park now
offers everything from acres
of Wetlands, to swimming in
the stunning Aquatics Centre,
designed by award winning
architect Zaha Hadid. The Lee
Valley VeloPark also gives you a
chance to try out the challenging
BMX and mountain bike trails.
For more laid-back bike rides
there are various routes around
the Lee Valley.
Another equally famous green
space is Victoria Park, home
to the Field Day and Lovebox
festivals. It’s East London’s great
communal park with a real
sense of history. Since 1840,
when it provided a space to
breathe for East London’s poor,
it’s been known as the People’s
Park. And it continues to serve
the community you could
soon be part of. The same
could be said for Hollow Ponds,
where Epping Forest meets
Leytonstone. Known locally as
Leyton Flats, it’s a calm space
topped off with a boating lake.
Top left: Olympic Park
Top right: Olympic Park
Below left: Victoria Park
With almost 30 miles of river
trails to explore it’s also
perfect for exploring by foot.
A fascinating route, through
an historic rural and urban
landscape, takes you to the
famous Hackney Marshes.
As well as the many cycle
and jogging paths, it’s also
known as the spiritual home
of Sunday league football
with over 80 pitches.

THIS IS

Embracing its local history while creating
an exciting future, Leyton is rising up as
East London’s latest new hip neighbourhood.

Once a typically faded outer
London shopping street, Leyton
High Road has been transformed.
Shops, restaurants and cafés
have been painted with pastels
to create a look that is more
Notting Hill than Waltham Forest.
At Wild Goose Bakery chefs
Vernon and Kirsten cook the
artisan cakes to accompany
the coffee from local roasters
Climpson & Sons. At Albert &
Francis, you can sip a mocha
while reading from their book
swap library. There’s a similar
vibe at All You Read is Love,
a bookshop, café and bar on
the High Road.
Leyton recently saw the arrival
of its first pop up restaurant,
with Filly Brook opening in an
empty shop. For eight weeks,
they joined local institutions
such as Café Du Metro and
Anatolia both favourites of
Grace Dent. One of their most
popular beers was an American
style pale ale brewed by
Leyton’s Signature Brew.
East London Brewing Company
is also in E10, with a brewery
that wouldn’t be out of place
in Bermondsey. As would Vault,
the place to go for vintage Ercol
Chairs and reclaimed lighting.
Also part of Leyton’s new
journey are a growing number
of artists and trailblazing galleries
like the Stone Space and Fill
The Gap. And new creators are
arriving all the time, like Leyton
& Stone Designers, a collective
of artisans making everything
from toys to furniture. It’s all
helping Leyton create its own
creative scene that you will
soon feel part of.

MAKE CONNECTIONS
Leyton resident Harry Beck,
who designed the iconic London
Underground map in 1931,
would be surprised to see the
changes in this once quiet area.
And the whole area is perfect
for exploring on your vintage
Pashley or fixed gear bike.
Time Out will provide all the
best routes.
With the Central Line station
five minutes away, you can reach
Liverpool Street and the West
End in less than 20 minutes.
The same tube takes you to
the creative hubs of Shoreditch
and Bethnal Green, which is
just three stops away.
With Leyton Central’s on street
parking you might choose to
drive and the A12 provides quick
links to the A406 North Circular
and onto the M11 and M25.
Right on your doorstep, Stratford
opens up East London’s other
artistic enclaves, with Hackney
and Dalston a couple of stops
on the overground. Hackney
was the first London council
to launch a cycling app.
24
From Leyton Underground
station, it’s 12 minutes to Kings
Cross St. Pancras, so you can be
in Paris by Eurostar for a late
morning croissant. City Airport
is within 20 minutes away and
with the arrival of Crossrail in
2018 journeys to Heathrow
from Stratford will be cut to
40 minutes.
All travel times are from TfL, Google Maps and Crossrail. Underground times are calculated from Leyton Underground station. Crossrail times are based on journeys
from Stratford Station when services are due to fully complete in 2019. *Change at Stratford for The Javelin train from Stratford International to King’s Cross St Pancras.
Leyton Central is named that for a good reason.
Whether its high-speed rail links to work or
quick tube hops to explore, being here brings
you the best of London.

IN SAFE HANDS
Tudorvale’s fresh and innovative approach
to property has helped create a host of unique
contemporary homes across London.
At the heart of Tudorvale’s
approach is a belief in
contributing to the surrounding
environment for the benefit of
residents and community alike.

When working with architects
on a new apartment building
above Old Street roundabout,
Tudorvale only needed to look
below for inspiration. The Bézier
Building sits above the silicone
roundabout, and is a sculptural
local icon that combines the
sophistication of the City
with edgy urban style.
38
A short walk from the vibrant
canal side at King’s Cross,
St William’s Court brings
contemporary urban living to
this revitalised area of North
London. Set in a serene
parkside location it offers bright
and airy modern apartments
to unwind from the bustle
of the nearby streets.
In Leyton Central, Tudorvale and
architects Stock Woolstencroft
have designed a similarly
transformative local landmark.
Resident Testimonials
“I have been delighted with
the apartment I purchased
at St. Williams Court.
Tudorvale created a fantastic
development to a high quality
and their attention to detail
is second to none. It is a great
place to live and I would
recommend a Tudorvale
development to anyone
intending to buy.”
Tommy Treanor
“From purchase, though to
moving in and throughout the
after sales care, the Tudorvale
team have been fantastic.
They made the whole
experience as stress free as
possible. I love the space and
design of my apartment as well
as having an amazing courtyard
to relax within and enjoy.”
Tony Mc Carthy
“Tudorvale made the whole
process of buying so simple.
Their communication during
the sales process together with
their after sales care has been
outstanding. The development
is a high quality finish and I am
proud to live at Bézier.”
Pat Flynn
“Many property developers
stop returning your calls once
they pocket your cash. Not
Tudorvale. They really stood by
their product both before and
after we bought our flat. Nothing
was too much trouble. They
answered our questions. They
showed us how things worked.
They sorted out a few minor
teething problems without fuss
and at no cost to us. This level
of service sets them apart from
many other developers.”
