Queensland’s
most
stylish
A FEW years ago it might have been easy
to dismiss ‘‘Queensland style’’ as an
oxymoron, but no more.
For our annual list of who’s got style in
the Sunshine State, we asked dozens of
Queensland’s tastemakers for ideas . . .
and we were inundated with suggestions.
We then presented the nominees to a
panel of Australian style commentators
who decided on the final cut.
One thing became clear – style can be
something that runs in families and
across friendships. It’s something couples
can display, not only in the way they
dress, but also in how they relate to each
other. So we decided to enter siblings and
couples as entries in this year’s 50 Most
Stylish.
We also expanded the list into a Top
100, the remainder of which can be seen
online at thesundaymail.com.au, and we
created a celebrity Top 10 list, made up of
former Queenslanders who are taking
the style message of the Sunshine State to
the world.
Exactly what is that message? Judge
Damien Woolnough described it as
‘‘reflecting the vitality and confidence of
the Queensland people’’.
Perfectly put.
