Dear Whitfield Families and Friends:
Dear Whitfield Families and Friends,
Our mission is clear. As a top school for preparing the next generation of operatives, we have come
together this evening ready for action.
Thank you for accepting your mission to attend Montage ’09! Whether you be an MI6 Field Operative, Villain or
Spy you are not required to eliminate any targets this evening, but you are commanded to relax and enjoy a night
of intrigue and surprises. While you sip your martini (thank you to Michele & Donn Lux for once again donating all
of the liquor!) or enjoy a lovely glass of wine (thank you to Gail & Scott Westerman for once again donating all
of the vino!), please inspect the Silent and Live Auction items that have been packaged in exciting new ways.
There are limitless opportunities tonight to have a festive time in this world of Bond created by our talented
decoration chairs, Cicely Drennan, Stacy Carey and Teresa Mitchelson-Busch. We want to give a heartfelt thank
you to Mimi Hammack, past Montage Chair for ’07 and ’08, who went far beyond the call of duty in her role this
year as an acquisition head. We also extend a special mention to Kim Thompson (and husband, Tony) as senior
parents who also gave our acquisition teams an amazing boost. Sheri Diemer, our dear friend and online auction
creator—thank you for taking on the awesome task of creating an online vehicle for the auction as it is a “site”
to behold! We also want to thank you for being our auction guru/advisor who was there to offer assistance
at any time.
For months our agents have been active throughout the city. With the leadership of super-agents
Vicki Chabot and Julie Nelson, our team has assembled a thrilling array of auction items for your eyes only.
Meanwhile, from her cyber-laboratory, special agent Sheri Diemer has added to the fun by spearheading
our first ever online auction.
We also thank the many friends and families that contributed table items, trips, unique experiences, cash
underwriting, sponsorships and gifts of time and talent. An operation of this size takes a true team effort.
Your license to thrill has been granted, so grab your bid-paddle and set your sights on an exciting evening
as we raise funds in support of the best students in the free world.
From Whitfield with love,
Of course, none of this would have been possible without Kelly Edwards, a consummate professional who made
this job fun with her upbeat attitude and openness to our more zany ideas. We are grateful for the support of
Becky Marsh who offered both the wisdom of experience as well as the necessary chocolate to get us through
the more stressful times. Melissa Irvin, the graphic design genius, we thank you for your incredible talent and
dedication. A big thank you to Michelle Parsons who lent her talent to many items for this event, from managing
the Montage page on the Web site, to assisting with the online auction to working on one of the biggest jobs of
coordinating RSVPs and seating arrangements! Thank you also to Ed White for your steadfast patience in making
numerable changes and printouts for our perusal. For all the proof reading of anything Montage related, thank
you, Laura Boeker. To our volunteers who made up acquisitions-especially our committee heads, Marion Margulis
and Stacy Rubenstein, mailing and setup, many, many thanks to you for making tonight possible! The support of
our Whitfield staff and faculty, Board of Trustees, and families who always make our annual Montage a success,
we thank you!
Now it is time to get back to the auction, have a great time and celebrate this evening with your Whitfield family.
We are here to raise money for our wonderful school. Thank you for supporting Whitfield School and our children!

Silent Auction Rules
01.Each item in the Silent Auction has a bid sheet attached
to the table on which it is located. To bid, fill in your
name, bid number, and the amount of your bid on the
sheet. (Bid number MUST appear on the bid sheet in
order to constitute a valid bid.)
02.We will accept bids submitted by mail on all items.
If you wish to submit such a bid, you must use the
Absentee Bid Form, which can be obtained from the
reception desk at Whitfield School. Such bids must be
received by 4:00 p.m., April 24, 2009, and must contain
authorization on the Absentee Bid Form for payment
by credit card or by charge to your student’s Whitfield
School Bookstore account. All such bids will be opened
prior to the auction and will be placed as minimum bids
on the bid forms used on the tables at the auction. Any
Sealed Bid not containing payment authorization will not
be considered.
03.Use only the bid number assigned to you. Do not allow
anyone else to use your bid number.
04.The opening bid on each item must equal or exceed the
“minimum bid” stated at the top of each bid sheet. Each
new bid must be written on the next blank line available
on the bid sheet. Silent Auction bids will be disqualified
if the minimum bid and/or raise are not as stated on the
bid form.
05.An Auction Official may disqualify a bid if you are blocking
the bidder’s table during the fifteen minutes prior to the
closing of a table.
06.Only an Auction Official may disqualify a bid.
07.Under no circumstances may bid sheets be removed
from the tables.
08.The Silent Auction tables will be open for bidding
at 6:00 p.m. and the tables will close at the following
times: 7:00 p.m.:Home and Garden
Party Pieces
7:30 p.m.:Let’s Shop
Around Town
8:00 p.m.:Pampering
Sports
It’s A Guy Thing
09.After each table closes, the bid sheets will indicate the
successful bidders. Records will then be filed at the
Bank for cumulative payment at the end of the evening.
10.In the event of a dispute, an Auction Official shall act
as the final authority and shall determine the winning
bidder. In the event that two bidders are in the process
of bidding on the same item when the Auction Official
attempts to close the table, the official may conduct
a mini-live auction between those two bidders. He/she
will determine the winning bidder. His/her decision will
be final.
11.Unless otherwise specified, all auction items and
services must be used within one year after date of the
auction (April 25, 2010). All sales are final. There will
be no exchanges or refunds on items by the donors or
the School, except where specified, or unless the donor
is unable to fulfill an obligation as described.
12.Payment by the successful bidder may be made when
the Bank opens. Payment in full may be made with cash,
check, Visa or MasterCard. Current Whitfield parents
have the option of charging their auction items to their
Bookstore account. Checks should be made payable to
Whitfield School.
13.Whitfield School has endeavored to catalogue and
describe the items and services correctly, but everything
is sold “as is.”
14.All items sold during the auction should be removed
that evening. For your convenience, large items that
cannot be removed will be held, but must be claimed
by Friday, May 1, 2009.
15.Items may only be removed by exhibiting a paid receipt,
received from the Bank, at the table where the winning
item was purchased on the night of the auction.
16.By his/her purchase, the buyer waives any claims for
liability against either the School or the donor of goods
and services.
17. Values set forth for the items are donors’ good faith
estimates, but do not constitute warranties of true
market value.
Super Silent will also close at 8:15 and reopen immediately
after the Live Auction for 15 minutes for blind bids only.
Rules for Super Silent bidding are on page 30.

Super Silent Auction Rules
Tables open at 6:00 p.m. and close
15 minutes after the Live Auction ends.
01.To bid on a Super Silent item, enter your bid on the bid
sheet located in front of each displayed item. Please
see bid sheet for bidding increments. If you wish, you
may enter a blind bid at any time.
02.Fifteen minutes prior to closing, an announcement will
be made indicating “All Bids Now Blind” and only blind
bids will be accepted. All bidders will bid against the
last highest bid posted by filling out bid cards with
the necessary information and placing them in the
designated box in front of each item. This is your last
chance to make the highest bid! At the end of the
15-minute blind bidding period, the box will be removed,
blind bids will be collected and the highest bid will be
posted at each item.
03.The item will be awarded to the person with the highest
bid above the reserve. In the event of a tie,
the winner will be decided by a random drawing of tied
bidders. To avoid ties in the Super Silent auction, bid an
odd amount, such as $101.59 instead of $100.00.
04.At the end of the evening, winning bidders should make
their payment at the bank unless previous arrangements
have been made to charge the item to your credit card
or Bookstore account.
