How can you make sure that the power that a racer puts into a
frame is converted into a faster forwards movement?
Eddy Merckx Cycles ensure ultimate power transfer by
using stiff frames in combination with power sections at specific
points of the frame. All Merckx frames (both carbon and aluminum)
are also shaped asymmetrically. The seat tube and chain stays are
attached to both sides of the frame in a way that provides maximum
power output and therefore maximum speed.

de France. This heroic 214.5km ride from Luchon to Mourenx provides

How do you prevent loss of stiffness
with large frame sizes?
Constant Steering Stiffness is not only
a requirement for every frame, but also for
every size of frame. What good is opting
for an ultra-stiff frame if the forks do not
provide the same stiffness? That is
why at Eddy Merckx Cycles we also
adjust the tapering of the forks to
match the size. This is of course
important for the larger sizes to
avoid the stiffness value reducing
as the size of the frame increases.

In 1964, Eddy Merckx became the amateur world champion in Sallanches,
France. This marked the start of his extraordinarily successful career as
a cyclist. The Sallanches64 is a carbon racing bike that combines compliance
with a high level of stiffness. This versatile racing machine is the ideal mix

Until the 1967 Giro, Eddy Merckx was known mainly as a sprinter. By
winning the very tough 12th mountain stage, finishing at the Block Haus,
he also made his name as an outstanding climber and tour rider. The

he won this oldest of the one-day classics, La Doyenne, in a Molteni
rainbow jersey, which confirmed his total supremacy. The Liege75 forms

In Montreal in 1974, Eddy Merckx won the first World Championship to
be held in the Americas. That was his fourth rainbow jersey in 10 years.
One newspaper commented: ‘Eddy Merckx didn’t discover America,
America discovered Eddy Merckx.’ The Montreal74 has an ultra-light

Strasbourg and then a few weeks later rode into Paris on 18 July wearing
the yellow jersey. The stage to Strasbourg ended on a gravel track where

for the spring classics. This included the European Championships that he
won as a team with his trusted friend, Patrick Sercu. The Copenhagen77
