Young Ameritowne Parent Letter
Dear Parent, We are excited to let you know about a new partnership coming this summer between St Vrain Valley Schools and Young Ameritowne to bring a dynamic camp to our students. This unique summer camp focuses on developing financial literacy within a simulated free enterprise system that is hands on and provides students the experience of running their own life like town of multiple businesses. Jr. Money Matters Camp for students entering 3rd and 4th grade June 20-‐24, 2016; 8:30am – 4:30pm Students explore fun and relevant things about money, banking and the world of work, while learning important basic financial skills. On the last day, students will get to work in a business and run their very own life-‐like town. Young AmeriTowne Camp for students entering 5th and 6th grade June 27-‐July 1, 2016; 8:30am – 4:30pm Students learn about government, banking, economics, supply and demand, advertising and much more. They will put their knowledge to work by running their own life-‐like town on the last day. Both camps will be held at Sunset Middle School in Longmont and will be limited to 50 students each session. Interested students should complete the attached application and return it to school by April 15th. Student answers may be handwritten or typed and should not exceed one page. Students selected for camps will be notified no later than April 29th. Please review and sign the following: I understand that the cost is $40 per camper (if your family needs financial assistance, there will be scholarships available) and that I must provide transportation to and from camp along with a sack lunch each day. Additionally, I understand that attendance all five days is expected. _______________________________________________________________________________ Parent date _______________________________________________________________________________ Student date
