BARNUM
Best known for his self-titled show, ‘The
Brian Conley Show’ in 1992, Conley’s
performance in Barnum was extraordinary.
His voice was rougher and much more like
Jim Dale, who played the original role of
Barnum in production on Broadway.
Lucy Thatcher (understudying Charity
Barnum) gave a very confident
performance and seemed to understand
the character well, performing a reprise of
‘The Colours of my Life’ perfectly.
The stage, itself, was full of colour,
perhaps as a deliberate nod to Barnum
himself, reflecting the showman’s
personality throughout the production.
There was little change to the songs,
though Conley spoke most of ‘There is a
Sucker Born Every Minute’ rather than
sung it.
There is no word on whether Barnum will
have a home in London’s West End yet,

strong soprano voice. The casting

you’re the organised sort. If not,
then you struggle through a week

SORTING OUT STRESS...
AGONY AUNT
Although this split second image

is, until you run out of time to stall,
and the tranquillity shattering

need to get up, and yes, another
morning marked off ill will look
suspicious.
Sometimes the start of a week of
college may feel refreshing…if
you’re the organised sort. If not,
then you struggle through a week
of coursework, essays and tests,
as though you’re shackled by
responsibilities and held hostage at
home until you finish the growing
pile of work on your desk. As it
piles higher, so too do your stress
levels, and according to survey
stats in 2008, 4/5 college students
feel stressed “at all times”. If a faint
smile plays on your lips and you’re
thinking ‘That is so me’ then
please, read on...
The first step to not having a
premature mid-life crisis is to take
each day as it comes. As tempting
as it is to plan weeks in advance
and worrying about deadlines,
thinking about it won’t change a
thing. Be more pro-active and do
your work as soon as it’s set.
Devise a timetable that you can

...and coping with coursework
This brings me to tip #3. If you do have
work in for tomorrow, it’s probably a good
idea to log out of Facebook, Twitter,
Tumblr, etc. As tempting as it is to flick
through the unflattering photos from last
weekend, or to have a good moan to
people in a similar situations over
Messenger, it’s not helpful to either of you.

REVOLUTION
Technology surrounds us; our
generation thrives in it. So much
information is available in the palms of
our hands, and global events, which
would have taken weeks to report, can
reach us in minutes. In a world where
social media has provided us with
connections to the people in highest
position of power, do the teenagers of
today still live up to the stereotype of
lazy and unaware; not really giving two
frick-fracks about a political system that
controls everything we do? How
politically aware does technology
actually make us, and does this mean
government should make a change?

MY NU

BARNUM
Best known for his self-titled show, ‘The
Brian Conley Show’ in 1992, Conley’s
performance in Barnum was extraordinary.
His voice was rougher and much more like
Jim Dale, who played the original role of
Barnum in production on Broadway.
Lucy Thatcher (understudying Charity
Barnum) gave a very confident
performance and seemed to understand
the character well, performing a reprise of
‘The Colours of my Life’ perfectly.
The stage, itself, was full of colour,
perhaps as a deliberate nod to Barnum
himself, reflecting the showman’s
personality throughout the production.
There was little change to the songs,
though Conley spoke most of ‘There is a
Sucker Born Every Minute’ rather than
sung it.
There is no word on whether Barnum will
have a home in London’s West End yet,
