Our selection of experienced teachers both
local and international ensures world-beating
academic performances from
our scholars...
We are one of the few
colleges in the region to be granted the
Cambridge International Fellowship status...
I am delighted to introduce you to Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) – a truly
world-class college specialising in university preparation. We are very proud
of our Cambridge International Fellowship status and the fact that so many
of our students go on to study at some of the finest universities in the world.
We offer an exceptional range of subjects at ‘A’ Level which can cater for
a variety of undergraduate degree courses. The combinations we provide
enable our students to prepare for degrees ranging from Medicine to Law,
and from Accounting & Business to Life Sciences.
Studying for examinations is, however, only part of the KYUEM experience,
albeit a very significant one. Too many institutions around the world cram
specialist knowledge into their students and ignore the essential extracurricular contributions that help to maximise a young person’s potential.
At KYUEM we provide a holistic teaching and learning environment where
increased opportunities for personal growth can flourish. Alongside our
superb sports and recreational facilities, we nurture the development of
student-run clubs, societies and study groups. British and other universities
recognise that KYUEM graduates are, therefore, very special. This is why
so many of them come and visit us year on year. Our students are much in
demand, and rightly so!
Complementing our academic and leisure facilities, we recognise the
importance of pastoral care and wellbeing. For many of our young people,
living at KYUEM is their first experience of living away from home. We
ensure that all individuals are well cared for and that no one feels left
out or isolated. By employing a UK-style house system, we encourage
a sense of teamwork and belonging to develop, which in turn, promotes
competitiveness and collaboration. We are a multi-ethnic college in all
respects. Our students represent all members of Malaysian society, while
our teachers are mixed between expatriate and local professionals of the
highest pedagogic and academic calibre.
But please don’t take my word for it – come and see for yourself. We hold
regular open days and you can always make an appointment to come and
meet with me or any of my staff throughout the year. We can promise you a
warm welcome to KYUEM at Lembah Beringin.

Headmaster

Why KYUEM?
What do you say about very good colleges that has not been said before?
That they imbue the right attitudes for personal and professional success; that
they nurture life-long relationships between fellow students; and that they make
education fun and fulfilling?
Well, at KYUEM, we do do all that and more!
Our stringent criteria for choosing the right kind of students to join us in Lembah
Beringin ensure a healthy competitive academic environment for our scholars.
Come, compete and grow.
Our selection of experienced teachers both local and international ensures
world-beating academic performances from our scholars.
It also ensures strong cross-cultural interactions. Come, explore your potential.
Our student activities on campus and within the Lembah Beringin community
ensure the development of well-rounded scholars who are exposed to service
to humanity and leadership development. Come, experience this with us.
Our location in tranquil Lembah Beringin ensures a conducive, supportive
environment for development too. Away from the bustle of city life, our scholars
thrive amidst the fresh air and the verdant green of the valley. It is a good
place for personal growth and reflection.
Our parent company, the UEM group, ensures that our facilities are
well-maintained and are equal to the best Malaysia has to offer. Our unique
chalet system allows for a degree of privacy that is unparalleled in fully
residential institutions.
Our promise: to inspire our scholars to achieve all of which they are capable.
Come, challenge yourself.

Delivering An All-Round Education
We nurture and encourage innovation, with the
intention of producing individuals who will learn,
adapt and think creatively. We produce high
performing all-round students who have the
pre-requisites to progress to the world’s
best universities and colleges.
Top Quality
Pre-University Education
Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) is a premier Malaysian
residential college that specialises in providing top
quality pre-university education, in preparation for
successful entry to the world’s best universities and
colleges.
In the past decade a significant number of our graduates
have successfully entered Oxford and Cambridge, and
countless others have entered other top universities
around the world such as Imperial College, The London
School of Economics and University College London.
Our high success rate of placing students at these
prestigious universities has been the envy of many
of our global and regional competitors.
Cambridge
International Fellowship
We are also one of the few select colleges in the region
granted the Cambridge International Fellowship,
giving us preferential access to their varied support
systems. This also means our students will benefit from
experiencing a truly international education, knowing that
their qualifications will be recognised by educators and
employers all over the world.
Award Winning Students
Our students have consistently won awards for
excellence in AS and A Level studies, including CIE
Cambridge Brilliance Awards and ‘Top in the World’
awards in Biology, Physics, History, Mathematics and
Further Mathematics. Our successes have earned
us a reputation for excellence in all aspects of our
academic work.
Courses Offered
We offer courses in Cambridge International Examinations
(CIE) A Levels. There are three academic streams:
Arts, Mathematics and Science.
Our students can take three or four subjects to A Level,
in almost any combination. The A Level subjects offered
are Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Further
Mathematics, Economics, Literature in English, History
and Psychology.
We also provide classes in Malaysian Studies, Islamic
Studies, Moral Studies and courses in key skills such
as ICT and IELTS, an internationally recognised English
Language qualification.

Tranquil Surroundings
The college offers tranquil surroundings in which
able and highly-motivated students can
study without distractions.
Accommodation & Amenities
Students are mainly housed in comfortable single storey chalets and
villas which give the campus a distinctive ‘resort-style’ atmosphere.
Among facilities and amenities available to students are a dining
hall, cafeteria, television rooms, health clinic and sick bay, prayer
room, large sports complex, a 50-metre swimming pool and a fullyequipped fitness gymnasium. For outdoor recreation, there are two
games fields, tennis courts, two squash courts and a huge expanse
of local greenery for jungle trekking and off-road cycling.
House System
To nurture a spirit of competitiveness,
students are organised on a “house system”
basis with four houses. Annually, inter-house
competitions are organised, including athletic
events, track and field events, football
matches and rugby tournaments.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Ensuring that our students gain an allround education experience, apart from
sports activities, we also offer drama and
a wide range of clubs and societies to
meet their diverse interests.
Student Council
Students benefit from an elected Student
Council that represents the concerns of
the student body. The Student Council’s
executive committee meets with the
college’s Headmaster every week to
discuss issues and suggestions brought
up by the students covering everything
from food to religion.

Student-Centred
Learning
World Class Facilities
Our facilities need to support a high quality
learning environment for over 500 students, all of
whom are demanding, active learners who have
moved beyond the ‘passive acquisition’ stage in
their educational development. In other words, in
addition to providing high quality teaching, we also
need to support what is currently called “studentcentred learning”. The heart of this support is
our Resource Centre, purpose-built to enable
effective research and quiet study. It includes a
generous library, containing multiple copies of all
recommended texts, plus many others essential
for the wider reading and research leading up to
effective university application.
KYUEM is well-endowed with world class
facilities that encourage academic
learning and character development.
All student accommodation is provided with
internet access and a shared computer for those
late-night study sessions, but many students prefer
to bring their own laptop computer that
can be linked to our campus Wi-Fi network.
Continual
Facilities Improvement
Our campus, set in an extensive ‘greenfield’ site three
quarters of an hour from Kuala Lumpur, provides
everything a student needs.
In terms of classrooms, we are generously endowed,
with ten science laboratories, two large lecture theatres,
and a wide range of general purpose classrooms.
Improvement of facilities is continued. Every teaching
room is equipped with a computer and LCD projector.
Knowledge Beyond The Syllabus
The Resource Centre is well stocked with a good selection
of books that supports A Level teaching. There is also much
background material for students who want to extend
their knowledge beyond the syllabus.

The Making of Top Achievers
We believe top achievers are not born but made. That is why
we measure our achievements by the success rate of student
placement in top-ranking universities in the UK. We have proudly
produced some of the best students in the world.
Testimony of our achievement is a string of top scorers in the
country and in the world, for English, Accounting, Biology,
History and Computing, amongst other subjects. A number of our
students have received scholarships and awards from Cambridge
International Examinations.
We have also been named as one of the top centres for
Cambridge A Level Examinations, with a high percentage of our
students consistently scoring at least three As. A student needs
at least two As to enter a top-ranking university in the United
Kingdom, and most of our students make the cut.
We take great pride in our excellent success rate of student
placement in the top ten UK universities, and the Irish Medical
Consortium. Many of our students have successfully entered
universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE and UCL
as well as top class universities in the United States and Australia.
