TQM Setup with Automailer 5
This document explains the setup procedure for using the TQM3 system with the
Automailer 5 and the options available.
Insure the TQM is selected in the AM5 hardware setup.
To check this leave the run screen and go to Engineering, Hardware setup, Select unit
zero, then select edit, then scroll to the bottom of the list under unit equipment and
check TQM. Then save changes and send to unit zero. Go back to the run screen and
press “Clear and restart” then close the M5go application. Then re-open M5go.exe.
The TQM will now be selected in the hardware setup.
Setting up Jobs to work with TQM
Under the configuration screen select the output tab.
From here you can select the output sequence mode required.

Options are:
0
OFF
No Sequence
1
AM5
Sequence created by Automailer 5. (Fixed parameters for
length (7) count start (1) and count direction (incrementing)
2
TQM
Sequence read at output by OCR camera (parameters are
selectable for length (1-7) count start (0 or 1) and count
direction (incrementing or decrementing)
3
Label at
Input
Sequence is part of label read at input by AM5. Parameters are
set in the label setup screen (“under output sequence/character”
a start position, length, direction and count start can be defined)
4
OFF send
characters
No sequence but a number of characters from the label are
defined in the label setup screen (“under output
sequence/character” a start position and length can be defined)
and sent at the output to the TQM

For Output sequence modes 3 and 4 a portion of the label needs to be defined.

Barcode/Label set up for Input Sequence
Under the barcode/label setup screen, the function Output sequence/char defines the
portion of the label used for the sequence.
Sequence mode 3 requires the Output sequence/char start, length, direction and count
start to be defined. Sequence mode 4 only requires the Output sequence/char start and
length to be defined.
Options are for Output sequence/char:
Start position: Defines where in the label the sequence number starts (e.g. 4 means the
sequence starts from the 4 character in the label)
Length:
The length is the number of characters in the label used for sequence
(e.g. 7 means there are 7 characters used for sequence in the label)
Under security the output sequence/char has 2 further options:
Start:
This is the rollover point when the sequence reaches its maximum (this
can be either 1 or 0)
Direction:
This defines if the sequences increases or decrements with each
document (options are incrementing or decrementing)

Checkers
Checkers can now be defined under the user set up screen. Checkers have no
access/ability to run or programme the AM5. The checkers name and password needs
to be defined and the role should be “checker”
These checkers can then be logged on when a job is run that requires an output
checker. This is set via the job screen. If a checker is present for a particular job then
checking should be set to “checker required”.

Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc
The operator and checker will need to log in and enter their passwords before the job
will run. This is done on the run screen by selecting the user icon and selecting the
checkers/operators names and entering the passwords
When an operator or checker has entered their user name and password they will need
to press exit to return to the run screen

Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc
The following error messages will appear if the operator or checker is not logged on
when the job is attempted to run.
The operators and checkers name that is logged in for the current job is displayed on
the run screen as shown
Note
When a job is complete or the logged in checker/operator changes then the previous
users must log off (this requires their password to be entered) this ensures no false
information can be sent to the TQM. Also this prevents a checker being logged in
when a non-checker required job is run.

Configuration Responses
When the configuration is sent to the TQM by the AM5 it starts with<CNS> and ends
with<CNE> (as per the protocol document).
The AM5 expects the TQM3 System to respond with <CNO> or <CNB> if neither of
these messages has been received by the AM5, before the run button is pressed then
the following error message will be displayed.
Please ensure the TQM system is powered on and ready to receive the configuration
settings.
Job Complete Message
When the AM5 is idle (all operating messages have been sent) the reset <RST>
command will be sent to the TQM. This tells the TQM that the job is complete and
there is no more data for that job is to be sent.
Note.
If last EOG is diverted or removed from the AM5 then this data will be sent to the
TQM after the Autoend is complete and before the reset command (<RST>) is sent.
The reset command is the last command to be sent and signifies that no more
operating messages will be sent. (All data from the current job has been sent to the
TQM)

Output Sequence
On the run screen you view/set the next sequence number (depending on the sequence
mode) The display shows the next PFE sequence number and the next TQM sequence
number.
Next PFE Sequence number:
This is not settable it is a visual aid to show the
next PFE generated sequence number
Next TQM Sequence number:
This needs to be filled in before the job can run
(if the sequence mode is 3) This number is the
first sequence number on the first document to
leave the AM5 that will be read by an OCR
camera on the TQM3 system. This number can
be set during a job to re-correct sequence if
necessary. Before the next TQM sequence
number is set the value displayed will be –1.
C:\Documents and Settings\rbarnes\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc
The TQM sequence start number must be entered before the job can run. If the TQM
sequence start number is not set then the following error message appears
Note. The TQM sequence start position will be re-set after a job change and a clear
and restart and will need to be re-entered before the job is run. (The PFE sequence
will only re-set on a job change)
Document set up for using AM5 with TQM
When a new document is created to be run on a AM5 feeder its parameters are
defined in the document set up screen. When the sizes of the document and the paper
weight are defined, then the document thickness and weight are automatically
calculated. This data is then passed to the TQM.
C:\Documents and Settings\rbarnes\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\OLK3\TQM Setup with Automailer 5 issue2.doc
When a new document is created to be run on a AM5 folder its parameters are also
entered in the document setup screen. When the sizes of the document and the paper
weight are defined, then the document thickness and weight are automatically
calculated. This data is incorrect for the TQM and needs to be adjusted manually.
Depending on the required fold the document will be twice or three times as thick as a
single sheet. To correct this information de-select the autocalc and manually enter the
thickness based on the fold (Example1: calculated document thickness is 0.11mm
(210x297 80gsm) and the required fold is “C” fold then the final document in the
envelope will be 3 thicknesses so the thickness needs to be set to 0.33mm. Example 2
calculated document thickness is 0.11mm (210x297 80gsm) and the required fold is
“V” fold then the final document in the envelope will be 2 thicknesses so the
thickness needs to be set to 0.22mm) Note. You cannot alter the number of pre folded
leaves to adjust the thickness, as this will also alter the document weight.
Error Recovery Information
If windows crashes or the M5Go application is closed when there are documents on
the track of the AM5 then insure the following procedure is followed to insure the
integrity (sequence) is maintained.

Turn off the power to the Automailer 5
Remove all documents from the Automailer 5
Re-load the M5Go application
Turn on the power for the Automailer 5
Wait for communications to be re-established
Log the operator on
Select the required job from the drop down list
Log on checker (if required)
Set Sequence start (IF Sequence mode is TQM)
Press run
Note:
Ignore any messages relating to missing stats data or that certain job ids cannot be
found
AM5 Control of TQM3
The settings explained in this document allow the AM5 to set/control the TQM
system. Giving the AM5 complete control over the TQM via the M5go user interface.
All settings are sent to the TQM from the AM5 as per the Protocol document.
